Chapter II: The First Summoning
Disclaimer: ROUND TWO! As I said before, I don't own Final Fantasy X, I'm not making any money off of this escapade, and all that I am doing is giving you all something better to do with your time.
Auron: Something better to do with their time?
Aren't you supposed to be with ac?
Auron: Yes, but I wanted to see what is going on around here.
Tidus: No you don't.
Auron: What?
Tidus: You don't want to see what's going on around here.
A: Why?
Tidus: I've seen what she's got planned and it isn't pretty.
A: What do you mean "it isn't pretty?"
Tidus: Come here. * Auron approaches Tidus and Tidus whispers in his ear. *
A: You have got to be joking.
T: Nope.
A: I'll be going then. * Auron leaves. *
That didn't take long; what'd you tell him?
T: Exactly what you've got planned for him.
And he doesn't like it?
T: I assume not.

Yuna sat quietly on the steps of the Besaid temple. She seemed rather content with herself; she basked in the warm mid-morning sun, the swift sea breeze tugging at her dusty locks. Wakka sighed; he wasn't sure how he was going to break the news to Yuna without causing the high summoner any emotional harm.
'Why me?' he thought. 'Of all the people on this island that had to tell her, why'd it have to be me?' He sighed and approached Yuna.
"Uhh Yuna?" he mumbled. The summoner looked up at her guardian, her eyes sparkling in the sun. 'Shit. That look makes this all the much harder.'
"What can I do for you Wakka?" she asked, smiling at him. 'God damn it. She's trying to make this impossible.'
"I, uh, I wanted to tell you something."
"What is it Wakka?"
"Well, first off, there's a new guy who's been seen floating around the island."
"A new inhabitant?"
"I'm not sure. No one has can get a straight answer out of him."
"Can't get a straight answer out of him?"
"Ya. I personally haven't seen him, but all those who have tried say he's pretty mysterious. No one can get him to speak."
"He won't speak?"
"Ya. Not a word."
"That's really odd."
"Ya." Yuna cast a quizzical look at Wakka.
"Have you seen him at all today?"
"No. Quite frankly, I haven't seen him at all."
"Hm. What was the other thing you wanted to tell me?" Wakka stalled again. 'Oh sweet Yevon I wish something would get me out of this…'
"Well, ya see..."
"Tidus' sword is gone." Wakka turned to see Lulu standing next to him. "It looked like you were having problems delivering the blow," she whispered to him.
"Thanks," he whispered back. Yuna sat staring at the ground in disbelief.
"Who? Who... would..?"
"We're not sure," Lulu replied. "I went up there this morning and it was flat out gone."
"Flat out gone?" Wakka asked.
"Yes. There isn't a trace of it or the person who took it."
"But how could they?" Yuna asked. "We tested that stone to make sure that is was impossible to pull out. No one could get it out."
"Someone did and it wasn't by brute force either."
"If it wasn't brute force, then what was it?" Wakka asked. 'I remember Lu saying it was gone, but she never told me HOW it was done.'
"It wasn't mass destruction; the damage was limited to the stone around the bottom of the sword."
"But how did they get it out?"
"It looked like a spell, a powerful one."
"A spell?" Yuna asked. "We didn't test it for spells. How much damage was done?"
"A fair amount. The entire thing has a crater in it and there are shards scattered everywhere."
"So da person that stole it must have been a mage, ya?" Wakka added.
"Not necessarily." Wakka looked at her puzzled. "It would have had to been a very powerful mage to do that much damage and I know of no one on this island that could do that much damage in one blow."
"If it wasn't a mage, then what was it?"
"The only other thing I could think of was an aeon and that's completely absurd because all of the fayths have stopped being summoned in the temples so the aeons no longer exist."
"So that takes us back to square one again, doesn't it?"
"Yes it does." The trio sat in silence for a short while.
"This is DEFINITELY one of those time that I wish Tidus was here." Yuna and Lulu nodded. "Why did you have to LEAVE US!?" He swung and hit one of the giant pillars close to Yuna. Yuna shuddered as Wakka's fist flew past her face. Lulu sighed, shutting her eyes at Wakka's actions. Yuna gently brushed the particles of pillar out of her hair. Wakka pulled his hand back, gently rubbing his knuckles. "He's not coming back, is he?" Yuna shook her head.
"There's nothing we can do, we've tried everything." Wakka sighed and sat down next to Yuna.
"So we're basically stuck, ya?"
"Basically." Yuna sighed.
"Can this situation get any worse?" she questioned. Lulu and Wakka exchanged glances. Before either could answer her, a trumpeting roar shattered the serene island air. The trio exchanged worried looks and Lulu slowly made her way around to the back of the temple. She didn't make it far; a large chute of water collided with the mage, sending her flying back in the direction she came. "LULU!" The mage stood up and brushed herself off. She extended her right hand and dropped her doll, casting a thundaga spell. The lightning crackled through the air and landed with a thunderous crash. Lulu stood in awe at its effects.
"Lu?" Wakka asked. "What is it Lu?"
"I don't know," she replied. "But whatever it is, it isn't very happy now." She took a few hurried steps towards Wakka. The demon slithered past the trio in a fluid motion. It was large, larger than anything than anything they had ever seen. It slithered like a snake, a rather large one at that. It was a stone colour; the segments spotted with different shades of gray and deep browns. The dragon-like head curled around the pillar on the main island ground and turned toward the summoner and glared at the trio with lidless, unblinking yellow-green eyes. Wakka shifted back to get a better vantagepoint to defend Yuna. The demon reared up and expanded the fins on the sides of his head. The fins were a light brown and shimmered in the sunlight. His long teeth glittered in the sunlight from his light hissing at the summoner.
"What the hell is that?" Lulu asked.
"I'm not sure," Yuna replied. "But I'm not liking the looks of this thing." The creature slid further up on its long belly and loomed over the three, a light steam hissing out of his nose with every exhaling breath he took.
"Well, what do we do now?" Wakka asked his eyes never leaving the beast.
"I'm not sure," Lulu replied. "Magic doesn't seem to work." Wakka nodded. "So we seem to be in a tight spot."
"Really Lu?" Wakka hissed bitterly. "I hadn't noticed." The mage shot him an angered look.
"Look you two," Yuna said. "You can squabble over this petty little incident later. We do have a BIGGER problem to DEAL WITH." The pair continued to stare at each other. Lulu raised her hand to cast another spell when the serpent let out a sky-shattering howl. The trio spun rapidly to see the serpent slithering off to the left side of the temple. (AN: It's the left if you are facing the temple dead on, like where the serpent is. It's the right from Lulu's, Yuna's, and Wakka's point of view. Just wanted to make sure you all know what I'm talking about here. Later.) Wakka turned to Yuna and looked at her quizzically.
"What just happened?" he asked.
"I'm not sure," she replied. The creature had now coiled, preparing to strike. Wakka turned back to the front of the temple. A man had now appeared in the summoner's circle. His long russet robe rustled in the wind. His short blonde tendrils shifted in and out of his field of vision. Wakka nudged Yuna and the girl turned to see the man standing there. "Who is that?" Wakka shrugged. The man shifted the deep russet robes off of his shoulders and slid the mass of fabric onto his left shoulder. He was well built; his build was one of a sports man. He had a black, plated undershirt and a black, leather over shirt that came half way up his chest and kissed the pockets of his shorts. His long black shorts varied in length; the left stopped above his knee and the right ended below it. Under the rim of the left sat a light blue edge, as if he was wearing another pair under the existing ones. Under his left knee was a string of piranha teeth, a long slender one running down the center of his leg. The style was mirrored around his left arm and in the wide necklace. On his wrists he bore two tightly weaved, black wrist guards that went half way up his fore arm. The weaving was mirrored in his brown shin guards. The guards tucked into his socks and those disappeared into his silver boots. Yuna gasped suddenly; he had pulled Tidus' sword out from behind him. The pale blue blade glittered in the sun. He gripped the mighty blade in his black gloved hands and stared angered at the demon.
"How… did…. he…?" Wakka stumbled over his words. The man hefted the blade skyward, casting a glare from the sun onto the members standing at the temple's front. In the middle of the blade appeared a black outline of a dragon. He shifted it to the left, drawing the blade into one thin line. He filled the butt over in his hands, pointing the blade downward. In one clear swoop, he slammed the blade into the unyielding earth. When the tip of the blade embedded itself into the dirt, a black pool formed around his feet. The mist floated upward like a swarm of pireflies. The blackness faded out about ten feet above the crouched man's head and a black gorge shattered the blue sky above his head. Out of the gorge floated a black dragon. His mottled deep blue and violet wing fluttered, bringing the beast in for a soft landing. Its left foot hit earth first; the silver claws tore in to the dirt as he brought his right down to meet it. Around the ankles were two blue bands, the tips sticking out into the air. Its whip like tail landed next, the tri tipped end curling around its feet. The three plates of armor on the left knee shifted down, giving the beast a lower stature. The front legs lowered to the ground, obscuring the blazing silvers symbol across its chest. The right fore arm was wrapped with a white cloth, dirtied from many day's battles. The beast now stood on four legs, his mottled wings folding neatly along his back. It lowered its head close to the man and he, in turn, gave the silver ridges on its nose an affectionate pat. The dragon shifted its head back up and the fins at the sides unfolded, revealing the same mottled pattern see on the wings. All of the white spines glittered in the sun as well as the long, bowing horns. Near the tip of each was tied a short red cloth, giving a blood stained effect to the ends. The beast reared up and let out a bellowing trumpet, bearing its white fangs. The man pulled the sword out of the ground and turned to the dragon. The sword length blackened and he cast a darkness spell on the demon. "Why would he do that? That harms someone, not helps them." The dragon's eyes sprang open for the first time since he had landed; the lidless orbs were a deep chocolate brown with a degree of softness to them. The dragon spread its wings and small lightning bolts danced around the long black spindles and migrated to the mottled innards. The dragon let out another trumpeting roar and a beam of lightning behind it. The serpent had no chance to move; the spell charred the serpent and it toppled over next to the temple. Wakka stared at the charred body along with the two girls and when they turned back the man and dragon were gone. Wakka blinked a few times. "This just keeps getting weirder and weirder."

The man brushed a lock of hair out of his eyes, watching the people at the temple. He shifted his back to the town, hefting the sword over his shoulder.
'You know who you look like doing that, don't you?'
'Yes, I do.' He started walking off into the forest.
'Aren't you going to go back after the body?'
'No. It's not worth it. I have enough plated armor.'
'Are you going back?'
'No, they don't care any more. I've caused too much pain to go back'
'And I haven't?'
'You have, but they will forgive you, YOU had no control of the situation. I DID.'
'How so?'
'I didn't have to stay.'
'True. So you're not going back because of stupid mistakes?'
'Not stupid mistakes, bad decisions. They'll never forgive me.'
'You'll never know until you go back and see.'
'And that will never happen.' The man trudged through the forest, trying to shake the annoying voice.

Tidus: Auron still isn't happy with you.
What makes you say that?
Tidus: This. * Hands her a letter and she reads it. *
So what. *She crumples it up and throws it over her shoulder. *
Heero: OW! Watch where you're throwing that!
STUFF IT YUI! Hypocrites; I can't seem to escape them.
