Chapter 6: "Girls Just Want to Have Fun” (by Cyndi Lauper)
~*~*~*~Belle was heading out the door when Toby entered the room.
"Hey, wait a minute,” he said and she paused. Rufus and Kaidan were in the kitchen while Yuna was watching a morning program on the television.
"What is it?” she asked and he sighed.
"I have an announcement to make, can you come straight home?” he asked and Belle blinked.
"Sure,” she said.
~*~*~*~
Tobias frowned as he finished paying his bills. He grumbled as he headed down the drive way to the mail box. Even with Belle and J'dee's help, he still had to use half of what was left of his savings. They were good for the month but next month might be a problem. Not to mention they'd need money for anymore trips to find more summons. He jammed the bills into the mail box and yanked the flag up. As he made his way back to the house, he tried to figure out what to do. He could probably sell the Neon but the damn thing was so rusted and barely ran. He'd get maybe a few hundred bucks for it. Not nearly enough. He glanced at the car by the garage when it hit him. There was barely enough room in the garage and Belle had taken the remaining space to park her car. But there were a couple of projects left in there from when his father was still alive.
Tobias headed for the garage and opened the door. He gazed at the large black tarp over the big piles that took up half of the garage. Tobias pointedly ignored it, refusing to think about what was under it. He turned to the small red tarp over the pile in the corner. He yanked it off. He stared at the bike and nodded. It wouldn't take much to finish the bike and sell it. If he called BJ he'd probably take it off his hands, he always had thing for Fat Boys.
Tobias nodded and put the tarp back on the bike. He'd start on it tomorrow. Today he had to return his jumpsuits and break the news to Belle and J'dee.
~*~*~*~
J'dee let out a breath as she walked into the kitchen in the morning. She felt worst today than the night before when she had to try and evict the damn spook to no avail.
Rufus had given her a decent amount of energy but the stubborn bastard wasn't budging.
There were the issues with her sleep being tormented at the same time.
She flopped to sit at the kitchen table. Belle had already left for work and J'dee was struggling to wake up. Her head thumped against the kitchen counter.
"If you keep doing that every morning I'm going to end up calling you Reno more often.”
J'dee just mumbled a 'buggar off' with a groan.
Rufus sat down. "It didn't leave did it?”
J'dee shook her head not lifting it from the kitchen table.
"And plan b would be?”
"Blast my eardrums with enough Ozzy Osbourne and Psy to drive it from my body.”
Rufus lent back in the seat. "I don't see how that would work.”
"My mind likes to make up it's own cross overs. I'm sure 'I just want you' and 'Right now' would make an awesome remix to drive it mental.” J'dee remarked.
"So long it's not as awful as that gungdam song you made me listen to last night.”
"Dude you had to see that though Deadpool going gungdam style awesomeness.”
Rufus let out a defeated breath. "And each day I wonder if Reno has a lost twin sister in another dimension.”
J'dee sat up. "Pizza for breakfast. I'm sure that will work.”
Rufus pinched the bridge of his nose shaking his head.
"I'm looking forward to training so I have an excuse to hit you.”
~*~*~*~
Belle sighed as she came home and she began unloading.
"You seem to be bringing more work home all the time,” Kaidan chuckled and Belle smiled.
"The end of the year is very busy. Prepping for next year’s courses, preparing for finals, and getting ready to finish the year, the last month is the worst,” she sighed.
"Well Toby wants us to tell us something, come on,” Kaidan said and led Belle to the garage.
~*~*~*~
"We're all here, Toby. What's up?” J'dee asked, leading Rufus into the garage. Tobias looked up from the bench he was cleaning off for tomorrow.
"Well I guess to be blunt about it, I got fired today.” Tobias blurted out. J'dee blinked and Belle seemed to rock back on her heels for a moment.
"What happened?” Yuna asked. She was looking at Tobias with concern. Tobias sighed and ran a hand through his hair in frustration.
"To put it simply, I wasn't able to keep up with the pace they set.” he sighed, shaking his head. "If they'd waited another week they would have changed their minds.”
"Why? What changed from last week?” Kaidan asked, frowning.
"Irifit.” Yuna said, and Tobias nodded.
"Yes, I know Yuna's noticed with Quetzalcoatl and Valefor junctioned to her, things have changed.” Tobias explained.
"I have access to wind type and lighting spells I didn't before. I've also been able to draw spells from natural mana sinks. I've never been able to do that before and I was going to ask Toby about it. I figured it might have something to do with junctioning them instead of just calling on them like before.” Yuna said.
J'dee grumbled something and Rufus shook his head in amusement.
"Anyways, back to the main reason you wanted to talk to us.” Belle cut in. "How badly does this hurt us? I could feed at least two more people, pay the cable/phone/internet bill, and probably hit the electric for the household for the next few months.”
"After the trip to find the summons? My savings is exactly six hundred dollars, not enough to pay even half the electric bill. Not to mention we haven't even been living together for a a whole month. I'm worried the utility bills are going to get high. I don't have well water here, they switch all of us over to county water a few years ago.” Tobias said. "I've got something in mind to get us a cushion but we need cash. Especially if we're going to track down more summons.”
"Do we really need to waste time doing that?” Rufus asked. Yuna was about to say something when Tobias cut her off.
"Yes.” he jumped in. "I said I'd help Yuna find them. We sure as hell don't need them here and if she can take them home I'll make damn sure she has them all. ”
"So we just have to watch our spending for now.” Belle said.
"Don't I know it but it won't be fore long Belle. I'll make sure I find something soon. I'm not one to laze about and it's my house. I'll take care of this, I promise.”
~*~*~*~
J'dee just nommed on another one of her kumera chips (or sweet potato fries for the American translation) from her fry packet.
"It's no biggie really I went through several weird jobs before I found my thing. Some of them were only for two weeks and others were were about a month or two.”
Rufus gave her a look. "Dare I ask the longest running of those jobs were what?”
J'dee opened her mouth and shut it again. "Lets just say I stood at the door for a club that was restricted to 18 and above.”
Rufus slapped his forehead. "Why am I not surprised.”
"Hey it was because of Gamestop I was able to leave that job, and I'm going on four years in the company now. They gave me hours so I wasn't there getting hit on constantly. Do you know how degrading it is to be offered $200 for-”
Rufus just put his hand over her mouth. "Not in front of the children.”
He gave her a shove pushing her out of the garage.
"Lets just get some of your training in.”
"Now?” J'dee complained.
~*~*~*~
Belle sat on the couch and watched her show as Toby moved to sit next to her.
"So are you upset?” he asked.
"No,” she replied as she looked at him. "You’ve had some bad mojo lately, but you look better. So what that you’re not cut out to be a garbage man, I’m glad. You weren’t meant to be one anyway. It was a stepping stone…now take the next step.” She changed the channel and they both watched the show in silence for a moment.
~*~*~*~
J'dee hit the ground hard and she looked up at Rufus standing over her. Every single night they were in the yard training.
"Real Gentleman on the battlefield aren't you?” J'dee complained.
Rufus rolled his eyes.
"Your hand to hand still needs work. But your reflexes have improved since we started.”
"Dude I used to do this shit all the time.” J'dee commented from the ground.
Rufus nodded. "How were you trained in reflexes?”
"I had shit thrown at me not just one thing like four things at once.” J'dee cringed at the memory. "That shit used to bruise.” She complained.
"Then we might have to repeat that method.” Rufus taunted.
J'dee shot him a glare. "Yeah I'm sure you'd be more than happy to help. You suck you know that?”
~*~*~*~
Belle yawned as she made breakfast.
"Training tonight,” Kaidan said and Belle groaned. "Hey, you need it. J’dee and Toby have been working really hard while you have not.”
"I really don’t see why I need hand to hand, but fine,” she groaned. "When I get back I will change and join you all in the fighting training.”
~*~*~*~
J'dee looked at her phone as it rang out the Final Fantasy X otherworld theme. The only time that ring tone happened was if work was calling.
She shifted her laptop and dumped it on Rufus' lap as she got up and walked to where her phone was plugged into the wall charging.
"Hello?”
She saw Rufus look at the screen and he quirked a brow momentarily confused by what was happening on screen.
She grinned as she saw him jump and a scream rang out onscreen.
J'dee listened as she heard the familiar voice on the other end and she bit her bottom lip.
"Really...? Well sure I'm not going to say no to that.”
Rufus gave her a look, he could tell it was important by her expression.
"Yeah sure I'll pick up a new set of keys tomorrow. Thanks.” She ended the call and set the phone down looking at it.
"Something happen?”
"Promoted. I'm switching to salary instead of wages. Been offered a second in command position for the store. Means more hours though.”
Rufus nodded. "Is that what you wanted?”
"Well yeah, it just means I got to hit up the area manager and get my papers signed off on. Formally extend my visa all that legal crap so I can work under the new title.”
"Well congratulations in that case.” Rufus set the laptop to the side. "But what on earth was that?” He glared at the laptop.
J'dee grinned at Rufus. "Amnesia. Horror survival game where you just run the fuck away.”
"I dare you to play that at night.” Rufus stood up.
"Fuck no.” J'dee laughed.
~*~*~*~
"What's this?”
Tobias looked up to see Kaidan staring at in puzzlement. Tobias looked back do at the starter he was working on.
"It's a '92 Harley-Davidson FLSTF Fat Boy.” Tobias rattled off.
"A what?” Kaidan asked, and Tobias sighed.
"A motorcycle.” Tobias grumped, scowling at the starter on the work bench.
"I know that! And I even know what a Harley-Davidson is! What did the rest of that mean?” Kaidan snapped.
"Fat Boy is the model. The letters means it's a single cam, lowrider and softail.” Tobias said. He gave a crank on the wrench and sighed in relief when the starter moved.
"How does working on this help?” Kaidan asked.
"I'm going to finish getting the Boy working and sell it.” Tobias replied. He finished oiling the starter and spun it by hand. It moved sluggishly at first but then began to move smoothly.
"So you ride?” Kaidan asked. Tobias glanced at the man as he leaned against the bench. He finished refurbishing the starter and went back to the bike.
"I was taking lessons to ride when my life went to hell in a hand basket.” Tobias said, heading for the bike with the starter in his hands. "I found this bike in a scrap yard and started fixing it up. I was almost done when I had more important things to worry about.”
Kaidan was silent as Tobias sat on the stool by the box and began to attach the starter. "Hand me that ratchet would you?”
Kaidan looked for the tool in question and handed it to Tobias.
"Mind if I help? It'll go faster.” Kaidan offered. Tobias shrugged.
"If you like.”
~*~*~*~
Belle sighed as she arrived home and headed to her room to change. She stepped out to watch Toby and Kaidan practicing. Yuna smiled as she approached and Belle sighed.
"So what now?” Belle asked.
"Try and hit me,” Yuna said.
"I don’t want to,” Belle whined.
"I could hit you,” she replied.
"You win.” Belle sighed and began to punch at Yuna. Yuna dodged and Belle watched carefully and noticed a pattern of Yuna’s movements. Belle punched carefully, aiming to hit gently. She was shocked when Yuna grabbed Belle’s arm and flipped her over.
Belle gasped as the air was knocked from her lungs on impact with the ground. She gasped deeply, several times before giving Yuna a look.
"I never said I wasn’t hitting back,” she chuckled and Belle groaned.
~*~*~*~
"Damn Toby, you've gotten faster.” Kaidan grunt. Tobias grinned smugly at him, bouncing on his heals a bit.
"It's Irifit. Since he's in here-” Tobias tapped his temple with his left index finger "-he's enhancing my abilities. Yuna is experiencing the same thing. Only with more than one junction they split it evenly amongst themselves. Irifit does all the work for me.”
"I'll bet.” Kaidan said, and lunged at Tobias. Tobias tried to dodge but Kaidan hit him in his shoulder, causing him to go spinning to the ground. "You still lack experience though.”
"Touche`.”
~*~*~*~
"Really another game?” Rufus let out a breath seeing J'dee sitting in the lounge playing on her PlayStation 3. Their training over for the night, it was her relaxing time. "What is this one another zombie or horror game.”
"Nope Saints Row the Third. I'm stealing cars and kitting them out in purple with pink interiors.”
Rufus raised a brow. "So no Zombies?”
"Well of course there is Zombies duh, I just haven't gone to that district yet. I want some sweet wheels to run them over with.”
Rufus sat down with a sigh. "But it's not a horror game?”
"Nope. Pretty much your the boss of this bad ass syndicate or mafia that run the town. You gotta claim it back by giving the smack down to all the rivals that wanna take over your turf. So I'm just buying as much property as I can before hitting the awesome mission where I can increase my respect by ten percent. Because if you get that extra ten percent it increases your profit of all the business’s you have erm... acquired through questionable circumstances.”
Rufus picked up his paper with another sigh. "When you've finished that I'm dragging you to to get some research done in evicting this ghost or whatever from you. You do realize that don't you?”
"Kill joy.” J'dee grumbled.
"You want experience in such a syndicate you should join ShinRa Corp.”
"I think I'd rather face Morning Star in hand to hand combat.”
~*~*~*~
Belle sighed as she drank a beer on the porch.
"What is this?” Kaidan asked and Belle smirked.
"I earned this, thank you,” she stated and he looked at the beer.
"I thought you weren’t tempting Toby?” Kaidan asked and Belle held out an unopened bottle.
"Your silence for one of my hidden stash,” Belle offered and Kaidan looked at it before chuckling and opening it.
"So you are hiding beer?” he asked and Belle shrugged.
"I was, now that Toby’s lost his job, I need to get rid of these last few,” Belle sighed and Kaidan looked at her feet where she had a bag.
"How many?” he asked.
"Three, I have one you have one, and there’s one more,” Belle chuckled and Kaidan drank.
"This is awful,” he teased and Belle chuckled.
"Yeah well sorry I don’t have any of your fancy future beer,” she said and they sat together watching the sunset. "That is a beautiful view.”
"My parents have a home in Vancouver, the view of the ocean from their home is better,” Kaidan teased and Belle snorted.
"Save for the part where it’s in Canada,” Belle laughed.
"There is no Canada or United States anymore,” he stated.
"There is now,” Belle replied as they drank.
~*~*~*~
J'dee lay on her stomach on her bed her arms hanging over the edge as she dangled the work keys on the lanyard for her cat to play with.
"Anything yet?” J'dee asked.
Rufus sat at her desk on her laptop. The Cloud plushie sat on the desk looking at him.
"There is something about another way you can gather energy.” Rufus stated. "Seems up your alley.”
J'dee stood up and hung the lanyard over the bed post to let her cat continue to bat at the keys. She moved up behind Rufus and lent over his shoulder to look at the screen with flat eyes.
"I hate you. You know that right?”
Rufus just smiled at her. "I'm sure you can find a willing idiot to help you.”
"No. I would need to bring said idiot back here. We maybe calling this home for now, but it still Toby's house I'm not bringing anyone back here.” J'dee stated. "Especially for THAT.”
"You want it gone don't you?” Rufus asked. "Before you loose control of yourself?”
"Well yeah, we just need to find another way.” J'dee state.
Rufus shook his head scrolling down the screen. "I haven't seen any other decent energy gathering ways short of blood sacrifices. So it's this or that.”
J'dee frowned. "I don't wanna do either.”
Rufus looked at her. "Well in your words. 'suck it up'.”
~*~*~*~
Belle arrived home and slipped into the house as quietly as she could. She lay down on her bed for a moment before she screamed.
"You should be outside,” Yuna stated from Belle’s closet.
"You are a horrible, horrible human being!” Belle cried as she clutched her chest.
"Here are your clothes,” Yuna chuckled as she tossed Belle her work-out outfit.
"Fine!” Belle snapped before grabbing her clothes and giving Yuna a look. Yuna smiled as she walked out of the room and Belle changed.
~*~*~*~
"Not bad.” Rufus said. He and Tobias were circling each other, each holding a wooden sword replica. "You're fast learner.”
"Thanks.” Tobias said. Rufus lunged at him Tobias barely met the blow, even with Irifit enhancing his strength.
"Now the more advanced lessons.”
"Aw crap.”
~*~*~*~
J'dee was looking at Kaidan with a raised brow. For some reason she had swapped partners with Toby in training and she wasn't really liking it too much.
Especially as she hit the ground for the fifth time in the row.
"Give me Rufus over you man. I think I felt my spine pop just then.”
Kaidan offered her his hand. J'dee grabbed it as he pulled her out of the ground.
"Did you want to learn with a sword?” Kaidan asked.
"Nah give me a big fuck off gun and giant red bulls-eye and I'll be as happy as Larry plz-k-thx.”
J'dee stretched her back out and let out a breath.
"Best out of ten?” Kaidan offered.
J'dee shot him a glare. "How about I go over there and use that post to pop my hip back into place.”
"Getting old are we?” He teased.
"Yes.” She replied walking away. "Plus I like my bones staying in place and in one piece.”
~*~*~*~
Belle groaned as she mixed some chicken riggies.
"What is that?” Kaidan asked.
"Chicken riggies, they’re from New York, basically chicken, fried peppers, cream, riggies, and pasta sauce. It’s a dish from home for me,” Belle chuckled.
"Smells good,” he commented. "How is your back?”
"From yesterday, good, from today, it’s my legs, Yuna kicked me. I’m starting to not want to train with her,” Belle teased.
"I never said I wouldn’t kick you,” Yuna stated.
"I know, I wasn’t arguing that,” Belle chuckled.
~*~*~*~
"I got dishes,” Toby said and Belle signed as she flopped onto the sofa.
"Good,” she stated. "Are you sure you want to sell the bike?”
"We need the money,” he sighed. "I don’t want to sell it, but I should.”
"We aren’t making you do this,” Belle said. "We can put off selling things you have for a while, we aren’t desperate.”
"I should do my part, I got us into this mess,” Toby said and Belle sighed.
"You’re being too noble, Toby, I wish you would stop punishing yourself,” Belle pleaded.
"I’m fine with it, Belle,” Toby said in a serious tone. Belle shook her head and resigned herself to the fact he was going to do it.
~*~*~*~
J'dee walked into her room after her shower. She stopped seeing Rufus sitting at her desk.
"Why don't you just move in then?” J'dee sighed.
She flopped onto her bed. "We could always switch rooms.” Rufus offered.
"Not happening. I don't do well in basements due to the unprotected nature of them. That and have you seen a majority of horror movies basements are like the festering spot for all evil spawn.”
Rufus gave her a look. "Yet you talked me into sleeping there knowing that?”
"Hey don't give me that look you're a guy who sleeps with a shot gun by his bedside. Me I have a cat, shot gun vs bad guy equals more chance of survival.”
"And on the topic of survival.” Rufus dropped the book on to her bed. "I spent most the day surfing your world's internet and you have this hidden?”
J'dee found herself staring at the sex magic book and she felt her eye twitch.
He was bringing up the gathering energy thing again. She was sure she made it clear she wasn't bringing anyone into Toby's house.
"This again? I swear. If I ever end up in your world, it'll be death by Tseng for corrupting you.”
Rufus merely smirked. "I was corrupted before I met you.”
"I think my corruption and your own are kinda on different playing fields.”
~*~*~*~
"Here, your hot chocolate,” Kaidan said as he handed Belle a mug. She nodded at him as she ate her bagel.
"Thank you,” she said. "I cannot wait for summer break.”
"Then we can work on your hand-to-hand every day for the summer,” Kaidan grinned.
"You are so mean,” Belle groaned as she began to finish her breakfast.
"Oh good Belle, you’re still here,” Toby said. Belle looked at him.
"What do you need?” she asked as she sipped her hot chocolate.
"I’m going to see if I can find a buyer for the bike today and sell it tomorrow, but I want to take Kaidan and Rufus,” he said and she nodded.
"So what do you need from me?” Belle asked.
"Is there a way you could keep Yuna entertained since we might be gone all day? She’s never been alone here,” Toby said.
"Um, I don’t know what to tell you, I’m not here either tomorrow,” Belle said.
"I know that, but could you do something to keep her entertained?” Toby asked and Belle rubbed the back of her head.
"I suppose I could ask J’dee to leave her laptop open for Yuna,” Belle sighed before heading to the door. "I’ll talk to her later.”
~*~*~*~
"So what do you guys do during the day when we weren't here before?” Tobias asked. Yuna handed him the socket wrench he asked for earlier and he began finishing the final tightening on the bike. "So far every day you two have been helping me out with the bike while Rufus just disappears.”
"Training some times.” Kaidan said, finishing filling the gas tank. "Other times we watch the news to get caught up on this world, some times we read.”
"It's really what we feel like.” Yuna said. "We explore a bit too. I went for a walk one day last week and found a really nice park with a creek running into a man made lake. There was a huge flower garden at one end where a wedding was taking place.”
"Ah Mill Creek Park.” Tobias said. He grunted as he finished and stood. He tossed the wrench on the bench and wiped off his hands with a shop rag. "I used to go there a lot when I was younger. Maybe we'll go there for a picnic, I can show you guys some of the stuff they don't advertise too much.”
"Sounds like fun.” Yuna said grinning. Kaidan gave them a look and Tobias sighed annoyed.
"What?” He asked and Kaidan shook his head.
"Nothin' let's just see if this bad boy will start.” Kaidan said. Tobias shrugged and got on the bike. He settled the bike and kicked up the stand.
"Here goes nothing.” He turned the key and glanced at the others. "You may want to stand back.”
As Yuna and Kaidan moved back Tobias walked the bike around to make sure he was facing the open garage door. After he checked to make sure everything was set as it was supposed to be, Tobias twisted the throttle three times and turned the key to start. He kicked down on the starter and the bike roared to life. He couldn't help the grin the spread across his face as he settled down. He revved the motor once before shifting the bike into gear. He drove it up and then down the drive a few times to make sure it ran okay a few times. As he pulled up by the garage an idea hit him. He checked his watch and grinned evilly.
"Hand me those helmets!” Tobias called out to Kaidan as he kept the bike running. Kaidan went to the large black tarp and picked up the two black, half-helmets resting on part of it. He came over and handed them to Tobias who had fished a pair of sunglasses out of one of the saddle bags. He put the shades on and strapped on the of the helmets on.
"You want to go for a ride?” Tobias asked Yuna, holding the other helmet out to her. She grinned and moved to take the helmet. She put it on with Tobias's help and looked at the bike for a moment.
"How do I get on?” She asked. Tobias pointed to the spoke for the passenger’s foot on the right side.
"Put your right foot there and then swing your left over. When you find the other spoke, set your foot on it and sit down.” Tobias instructed. Yuna cautiously did so, glad she was wearing jeans. She put her hands on Tobias shoulders but he shook his head.
"No,” he said. "Put them around my waist okay? I need my arms and hands free to run the controls.”
Yuna slipped her hands around his middle.
"I hope you enjoy this, I always do.”
Tobias hit the clutch with his foot and the bike shifted under them and they began moving down the drive. It was only the first week of May but was getting hot. Today the temperature was topped at 90 °F and a perfect day for riding. Yuna laughed happily as the bike sped up when they hit the road.
"I knew you'd like it!” Tobias said as the bike roared down the road. After a moment they turned and headed down some other streets. If Yuna had ever ridden with Belle to work she'd have known they were following Belle's route to work perfectly.
You see Tobias was feeling better than he had in months. The bike rumbling under his legs, Yuna behind him laughing happily, and feeling her clutch him from behind....it made him feel happy to be alive for the first time in months. He felt more like himself, which meant he also felt mischievous. And he remembered that Belle had complained the other night about the entire school being involved with a stupid kick ball tournament in gym instead of classes for today. He knew her school wasn't very big, it was why she had picked it from the many offers she had received.
Tobias grinned evilly to himself as they turned down a side road. When they cruised around a smooth bend in the road to see the school his grin turned into a smirk. The school was built here to give them some isolation and quiet. As they went by, Tobias purposely gunned the bike, making the fat Boy's engine turned from a steady growl into a deep, loud roar. A quick glance to his right he saw some students hurrying to the fence to watch. Tobias slowed the bike down as they went out of sight. He eased them into a slow u-turn.
"Hold on!” Tobias cried. He gunned the bike and they peeled down the road. Yuna laughed in glee as they sped up. A quick glance to his left showed a few of the students cheering as they roared by again, this time faster and louder than before. After they were out of sight again, Tobias decided it was best to leave before they called the cops. He slowed the bike back down to a reasonable speed and they set off for home.

Thursday was a good day to have off, well it had been until Rufus had dragged her back into the business management training regime, physical then theory mixed with work.
She was finding the focus was slipping by late morning and by two pm her brain had officially melted.
Rufus let her off for the afternoon and J'dee decided she needed to go buy stuff.
Namely Mango flavored frozen yoghurt and Turkish delight chocolate.
But there were other foods she was picking up. Ingredients for a chicken teriyaki flavored okonomiyaki and pikelets.
Rufus was with her as she shopped wanting to make sure she didn't buy anything to strange.
"This okonomiyaki what is it exactly?”
"Japanese pizza, or a savoury pancake. The only kind of pancake I can make.” J'dee replied as she picked up the cabbage. "I apologize for my Asian cooking dishes. Chicken masala, chicken curry, okonomiyaki and chicken nikujaga it's pretty much all I really make.”
Rufus looked at her. "Why is that?”
"Asian diet is healthier than western, I did it as part of a eat healthier regime.”
Rufus nodded and looked at her. "Was this while your mother was sick?”
"Yeah I started then, but I wasn't very good... then when Eve moved in after my mother died I kinda just started to pick it up. Guess I have a guide who likes cooking.” J'dee smiled.
~*~*~*~
Belle sighed as she came into the house at the end of the day. She grinned as she saw J’dee unpacking groceries in the kitchen.
"Hey, you just get in, girl?” J’dee asked and Belle nodded as she placed her stuff in a kitchen chair.
"Yeah, hey, I have a favor to ask you,” Belle said. "Yuna is going to be on her own tomorrow, could you leave your laptop on so she can surf?”
"No problem, Hun,” J’dee said and Belle grinned.
"Thanks, I owe you,” Belle chuckled. "Now I need to go change since I will undoubtedly need to get ready for my ass kicking. I don’t know how you do it with Rufus.”
"That sounded dirty,” Rufus said.
"Ew!” both women groaned as he chuckled.
~*~*~*~
When Belle left the kitchen J'dee shot Rufus a look. "You are denied access to my pervy material now thank you very much.”
"I'm sure I would survive without access to your perverted material.” Rufus stated.
J'dee looked at him. "Then why do you just keep finding it?”
"You label it horribly that makes people curious.” Rufus shrugged it off.
J'dee felt her eye twitch. "You went through it on my computer didn't you.”
"I don't speak your Asian I assumed yaoi and yuri were people you knew.”
J'dee felt her cheeks flush. "Yeah well they're not.”
"I'm well aware of that... now.” Rufus stated.
"How far did you look?” J'dee asked worriedly.
Rufus scoffed. "I knew not to click on the folder that had my name marked next to Reno's if that's what you're asking.”
J'dee let out a breath of relief. "Yeah that was something a friend sent me... I don't even know why I still have it.”
"Well you don't anymore.” Rufus stated.
J'dee turned to look at him. "Don't just delete stuff from my computer without asking.”
"You're still my property so therefore your property is mine. I have a right to delete it if I don't approve.” Rufus stated.
"Yeah yeah but I swear if you delete the Zack x Cloud folder I'll cry.” J'dee warned.

"Hey thanks BJ, I appreciate it.” Tobias said, looking at the bike in the garage as he finished his call on his cell.
"No problem hoss.” replied over the phone. "Even if I don't buy it one of my crew might. I'm just glad to hear from you again. When all the shit was going down I wasn't surprised you cut off contact for awhile, what with the lawsuits and all. I was worried when I heard they settled and you still didn't reach out.”
"I was in a bad place for awhile.” Tobias admitted. "I finally got out of that funk a few weeks ago.”
"Well I'm glad you got past it. We'll have a few beers and some cows when you show up.”
"I look forward to it.”
"See you tomorrow, noon?”
"Sounds good to me BJ. Take care.”
"Later T.”The phone clicked off and Tobias turned his off with a sigh.
"Now how do I tell the ladies I'm selling the bike to a local MC?”

Belle groaned as she lay in the tub surrounded by bubbles and there was a knock on the door.
"Hush, I’m healing bruises unfairly placed upon my person,” she called.
"I didn’t get a chance to tell you earlier because you ran in here, but I found a buyer for my bike,” Toby said and Belle blinked before looking at the door.
"I still don’t think you need to do that,” she said.
"I need to,” Toby said. "I’ll tell you more over breakfast.”
"Okay,” Belle sighed.
Later as Belle lay in bed, the television on, she thought about Toby’s bike and felt guilty.
"The campers were both alright, but the camp looked as though it was savaged by a large animal,” the reporter said. "Also, Mount Killian’s ice cap seems to be expanding instead of shrinking. Some experts believe this proves that global warming is not…” Belle turned off the television and shook her head again before rolling over to sleep.
~*~*~*~
"At least you improved somewhat today.” Rufus stated as he sat down on J'dee's bed.
J'dee spun round in her computer chair before letting out a yawn.
"Yeah but my reserves are getting low and face it, I won't be able to keep leeching your energy. Not when I'm heading into full time next week.” She stopped spinning round when she saw Rufus stand up. "If I give you enough can you evict it?”
"Not at the rate I've been leeching. I'd need at least three times that amount. Then yeah I could. But the cut on my arm broke the seal. It could jump back in me when my energy drops again.”
"Then good thing I have my curaga on me.”
J'dee blinked looking up at Rufus. "Rufus if you piss this thing off it'll gun for you.”
Rufus smirked at her. "I'm used to pissing people off.”
"People yes I'm sure, dead people are different. Just give me a day or so, I need to organize some charms to ward it away from us and this house.”
~*~*~*~
"So tell me about this buyer you found,” Belle said as she began making tea for J’dee and Yuna, coffee for the boys, and hot chocolate for herself.
"I don’t want you to freak out,” Toby said and Belle gave him a look. "What?”
"Never start with ‘I don’t want you to freak out’ because it will make what you have to say that much worse,” she scolded.
"Fine, but don’t be upset. I’m selling the bike to a biker…he’s in this gang and…” Toby blinked at the lack of a response. "Why aren’t you interrupting me?” Belle gave him a smirk.
"One of my closest friends in high school, her dad was a bike repair man, he ran with a gang, nothing dangerous, mostly older men who loved motorcycles, I don’t think they really count as a gang,” she stated. "It makes sense to sell a good looking bike to a biker. Still, if you don’t want to, I’m not going to complain.”
"It’s the right thing for me to do,” Toby said and Belle shrugged.
"May it bring in lots of money then since you are so stubborn about this,” she stated.

"Toby my man!” The man who shouted this greeting was at least six foot six, and was built like a mack truck. He was decked out in leather and had a patch on his vest that said President. Tobias got out of the truck with Kaidan and Rufus following.
"BJ, how's it going?” Tobias asked. Surprising the man hugged him which Tobias returned. The big man then fixed the other two with a careful look.
"I'm fine, doing just fine. Who are these guys?”
"These are my roommates Kaidan and Rufus.” Tobias said, pointing at each in turn. "They and their old ladies stay at my house to help with the bills.”
"I thought you owned that free and clear.” BJ said, turning his attention back to Tobias. Tobias shrugged.
"It's been a rough couple of years, BJ.” Tobias said, heading for the back of the truck. He lowered the bed and hopped up.
"I heard, that was a shitty thing man. We would have helped if you'd have asked.” BJ said. "We still owe you for helping get Candy and Khan jobs on that site.”
"Well if you or someone else buys this off me today we'll be even BJ.” Tobias said. He finished un-doing the tarp and pulled it off. BJ whistled low.
"Nice. You restore it yourself?” he asked. Tobias nodded as he took the board they rolled the bike up on the truck with from the bed. He set it down on the gate edge and then began untying the bike. They soon had it down and it sat on the pavement. Some of the other bikers from the club house had also come out. They exchanged greetings with Tobias before looking the bike over.
"Take her for a spin if you want.” Tobias offered as some of the others were asking if the bike ran. "I took her out myself yesterday and she handles like a dream.”
As the others began to argue who would go first BJ slung an arm around Tobias's shoulders.
"We need to talk. Alone.” he said, quietly. Tobias nodded and turned to Kaidan and Rufus who were watching everything warily.
"Hey guys why don't you go inside and get drink?” Tobias said. Kaidan and Rufus exchanged a look.
"Yeah that's a good idea! I had Jimmy make some burgers and the drinks are on us.” BJ said. He motioned to on of the others by the bike who came over. "Show T's friends inside.”
"Sure boss.” the man said.
"Toby?” Kaidan asked. Tobias nodded and waved them off.
"Their friends Kaidan, its alright.” As soon as they were inside BJ led Tobias to picnic table on the concrete patio. He pulled out a cigar and lit it up. He offered one to Tobias who politely declined.
"I'll be taking the bike.” BJ said, as if this was fact and not open to negotiation Tobias didn't doubt that for the charter president of the Road Wolves he already saw the bike as his. "Will three grand do you fine?”
Tobias held back a wince. It was a low offer but Tobias had done enough work with BJ to know it was also the best offer he could get without insulting the biker.
"That's fine, BJ.” Tobias said. "I know she needs some more work to be mint.”
"Ayup.” BJ said. They sat in silence for a bit.
"So what's up BJ. I know you don't need privacy to buy a bike. What's going on?”
"Well,” BJ drawled, "I heard about you losing your job. I don't suppose you'd re-consider the offer I made after Khan got clear of his probation?”
Tobias sighed. He'd first met BJ on a construction site he'd been over seeing. The Wolves had been causing them trouble until Tobias took over. After meeting with BJ he learned that all he wanted was a couple of his guys on legitimate work until their probation was up. Tobias had been more than willing to help them out and then some. When BJ himself had been in danger of being thrown in jail, Tobias had even come to his aid. Then the biker had offered to have Tobias join the motorcycle club. Tobias had politely refused.
"Like I said before BJ I'm not really outlaw material.” Tobias said.
"I figured you'd say that.” BJ said. He reached into the vest and pull out a piece of paper. Tobias took it and opened it. It was a name and phone number.
"If you don't have any luck finding something new you call this guy. He needs some one on the up and up to run cleaning on an after hours club of his. All you have to do is show up during the day, clean everything and then go home. It's during the day and all you have to do is keep your mouth shut about where it is.”
"Thanks BJ. I doubt I'll need it but it'll be nice to have a back up plan.” Tobias said. BJ nodded and pulled out an envelope from his other pocket. He handed it to Tobias who put it right away. BJ grinned. Tobias knew not counting the money was a sign of respect and trust.

Belle was happy as she entered the house only to discover Yuna sitting at the table staring at her expectantly.
"Uh, what’s up Yuna?” Belle asked as she headed to her room.
"I was looking at J’dee’s computer most of the day,” she said. "It made me think about a few questions.” Belle smiled as she began unloading her bags.
"That’s good, questions mean you are learning about our world,” Belle grinned.
"It brought up questions about…relationships and…and sex,” Yuna stated and Belle felt her face drop.
"You don’t say,” Belle said as she tried not to let her discomfort show. "Did the guys come back? Or is J’dee home?”
"No, you are the first to return,” Yuna said as she sat on Belle’s bed. Belle winced before turning to face Yuna with a forced smile.
"How can I help you?” she asked, hoping she was really misunderstanding the question.
"The relationships I saw were strange,” Yuna said.
"Wait…saw?” Belle asked and Yuna nodded.
"Yes, it was a movie in J’dee’s computer. She had a file named ‘Videos’ and it was in another one labeled ‘Yummy’ which I thought might have something with food,” Yuna said and Belle felt very nervous.
"What movie did you watch?” she asked.
"Well Toby is selling his motorcycle and the title was ‘Motorcycle Pizza Delivery Man 6’ so I thought it might explain why people ride motorcycles to me,” she said. "Is Toby selling a sex device? Are they your way of saying your looking for sex? Is that why Toby took me for a ride yesterday?”
"No!” Belle cried feeling horrible. Toby was going to be mad Yuna had watched a porno and J’dee was going to be horrified Yuna watched her porn and Belle was currently hating them both a little. "A motorcycle is just a vehicle like our cars. It is a one to two person vehicle, that's all their used for! They used it in that movie as a plot device…thought I doubt there was much of a plot.”
"It was very interesting, the man delivered pizzas to many people, but most had no money so they used sex as payment. It was not very realistic after the fourth time, but I was confused by the relationships,” Yuna stated.
"How so?” Belle asked not looking forward to the answer.
"Well, I could understand the women, but at one point he had sex with a man, then his woman assistant had sex with another woman, it was very confusing,” Yuna stated and Belle felt speechless. She would have to kill her friend for this horrible experience.

J'dee had stopped by the local witchy market and had a bag of crystals, herbs and the like to make the spirit warding charms to place through out the house secretly. It had delayed her getting home on time. She knew she could place the warding bags in the corners of the house hidden to keep anything from coming at any of them.
Arriving back at the house J'dee made her way inside quietly. Hoping there would be no questions on why she was later than normal.
J'dee stopped suddenly she saw Belle in the hallway outside her room.
'Oh crap does she know?' J'dee thought with a grimace.
~*~*~*~
"Welcome home, J’dee,” Belle said as she stood in the doorway to her bedroom.
"Hey, girl, what’s up?” she asked.
"Oh, Yuna enjoyed your computer but she asked me a funny question,” Belle stated.
"If it’s about the wars, we had nothing to do with that,” J’dee stated.
"Did she lose any plot between Motorcycle Pizza Delivery Man 1 and 5?” Belle asked and J’dee froze.
"In my defense, the lead dude is really good looking?” J’dee asked.
"Do you know how humiliating that was?” Belle asked and J’dee smirked.
"About as bad as if she read one of your books,” she shot back.
"That is a very different situation,” Belle stated.
"Not where I’m sitting, I just got caught and you didn’t,” J’dee said.
"I hope Rufus reads one of my smut books and you have to answer his questions,” Belle sighed before marching out of the room. "I have to go chaperone a dance, I’ll be back late.”
"I’ll let the boys know,” J’dee chuckled.

J'dee finished stuffing the last spirit warding pouch into a hidden corner in the basement. She stood up and stretched.
"Are you down here to use the gym?” Kaidan asked as he opened the door.
"Oh no... was just um going to borrow Rufus's um... thing.”
She motioned at Rufus' door.
Kaidan raised an eyebrow. "Uh okay then...”
J'dee opened the door to Rufus' room and stepped inside. She looked round blinking at how he hadn't made any changes to the room.
She looked round for something she could 'borrow' but all he had on the bedside table was his shot gun shells and a desk calender.
"Difficult man.” She opened the temporary wardrobe to look inside and raised a brow at the line of white suits with the single one black suit and white shirt.
J'dee sighed and stepped out of his room.
Kaidan was now on the gym equipment and J'dee headed upstairs quickly.
J'dee stepped into her room and let out a breath.
"Done?” Rufus asked from where he sat at her desk reading one of her spiritual books.
"Best I could.” J'dee sighed.
Rufus closed the book and set it on the desk. "Can you get rid of it?”
"Y-yes with enough energy, but I'm completely spent from making up those pouches.”
J'dee saw the corner of Rufus' mouth tilt up in a smirk.
"Then I'll give you some of mine.”
Her face flushed. "Look I thought we already talked about this, that's not-”
"I wasn't talking about the normal way.” Rufus stated.
J'dee blinked for a moment confused. Before her brain ticked over the implication.
"Uh... I kinda don't really swing that way... not anymore.”
Rufus shed his white jacket. "I'm not telling you to become emotionally attached, I'm telling you to take the energy you need from me and evict the bastard.”
Rufus tossed his coat over the back of the chair.
J'dee felt herself back up and she looked to the door.
"But what if they-” She really didn't want to wake Belle, Toby or Yuna.
"Doesn't matter. I'm not having you on a mental vacation next summon hunt. That could get us all killed.” Rufus stated.
J'dee could feel the spirit inside react and her hand moved to her stomach. It was beginning to move throughout her body understanding what was about to happen.
Rufus saw her move then she charged at him. He dodged with ease, catching her wrist and twisting it behind her back, he pinned her up against the wall pulling the gun out from his belt and pressing hit against the back of her head.
"One year is a long time to be dealing with this crap. I don't play well with dead people possessing your body. So you can accept my help or I'll just kill you now.” Rufus growled.
He saw her eyes look at him, he saw her mouth move slowly.
"Ruthless prick.” She growled. "I'm not going to let you kill me obviously.”
Rufus smirked. "Good choice.” His thumb flickered over his company's mark on the wrist he held. He leaned in close. "After all you have my company's brand on you, if anyone should own this body, it should be me.”
~*~*~*~
J'dee woke in the morning to the feeling of warmth behind her, she had spent years avoiding sharing her bed. She never slept well with others, but last night she actually managed to sleep.
She heard her phone text tone go off, Reeve's voice stating that he wasn't in costume.
J'dee heard Rufus yawn, then she felt the president roll her over, she lay on her back looking up at him. Remembering last night, her eyes glanced round her room, the morning sun streaming through. It showed the extent of physical damage it endured, from their sexual encounter, the only thing left on her computer desk was her closed lap top, there was a faint streak of red on the wall from where her nails had dug into Rufus' back and then slammed him against the wall.
Never, not once had she ever done anything so violent in the bed room, but he had brought it out. J'dee flushed at the memory. That so hadn't been her last night and she knew it.
She normally was a quiet bed room person, but last night. She knew she wasn't quiet.
J'dee looked down at her arm the seal was healed as if it had never been cut.
"How do you feel?” Rufus asked as he moved from the bed grabbing his pants from the floor.
"Like I drank to much.” Her hand moved to her head.
"Is it gone?” He asked.
J'dee looked round. She couldn't feel it or feel the access weight inside her.
"Yeah I think it is.” She replied.
She watched as Rufus pulled on his shirt then his jacket.
"Good. I'll go make some breakfast.”
J'dee watched him leave her room and she sat there blinking for a moment. She pulled the blankets up looking round at her trashed room.
She blinked seeing Tiger sitting on the window sill looking at her before slinking through the open window and meowing at her.

Belle yawned as she walked into the kitchen to see Kaidan and Rufus cooking.
"How was the dance?” Kaidan asked.
"Long, loud, but there weren’t any couples making out in corners,” Belle sighed as she accepted a cup of hot chocolate.
"Is that a regular problem?” Rufus asked as he looked at her as he handed her a pile of overcooked eggs.
"In high school, yeah, but it’s hormones,” she said. "It could be worse. I’ve only ever caught them making out. Mr. Thompson has caught a couple in the midst of passion.”
"Fun,” Kaidan laughed.
"Yeah, not some I want to partake in, thank you,” Belle grinned.
"I hope you are ready for training,” Kaidan said.
"Of for the love of God, I don’t want more bruises,” Belle whined.
~*~*~*~
J'dee was surprised at how easily her body moved and deflected the blows Rufus was throwing her way. He stopped for a moment and nodded.
"You have more energy.” He stated.
"Yeah. Thanks.”
Rufus nodded at her. "I'm not complaining. It was entertaining to say the least.”
"FYI I still don't swing that way...”
She saw the smirk. "Could have fooled me.”
"I can't wait to actually kick your ass for once.” J'dee complained.
~*~*~*~
Belle groaned as she limped into the house.
"I don’t want to train anymore,” she whined.
"There, there, Belle, you are starting to get better, you are blocking now,” Yuna said.
"Yeah, that’s not helping, you’re lucky I wear a cover up most days or my students will think I’m in an abusive relationship,” Belle sighed. "I’m commandeering the bathroom for the next few hours.
~*~*~*~
J'dee fell face first onto her bed and she lay there for a long moment. Normally by now the spook would have shown itself. Be it at the boundaries of the property while they were training, at the windows as she was cooking. But it was just gone and that left an unnerving feeling in her stomach. To top it off Rufus had only been in this world just over a month and already she had fallen into bed with him for a one night fling.
She shoved her face into the pillow and let out a frustrated growl of irritation.
Eventually Belle and Toby would click. Lets just hope she could not act flustered around the president and give it away.

"I ordered a pizza on the way,” Rufus stated as he headed into the living room.
"How is that a different situation?” J’dee demanded.
"Because most people wouldn’t want to keep reading my books to reach the…interesting parts,” Belle stated.
The doorbell rang.
"Oh that’s no reason!” J’dee cried. "You’re just being pissy!”
"It’s on bitch!” Belle cried and the two women began to attack each other.
"Hey the pizza guy is here,” Kaidan called. "I don’t have any money, how are we going to pay him?” Both Kaidan and the pizza guy stared as the two women began to shred each others clothing.
"Oh, I like where this is going,” the pizza guy said with a big grin.
