Final Fantasy - All Series Fan Fiction ❯ Intensity ❯ Solving The Mystery ( Chapter 10 )
Chapter 10.
Irvine was driving along the path to the road quietly, ready to turn off in the other direction but he froze at the huge metal gate. "Don't you worry darlin' I ain't given up on you- not now or ever. He then turned the car in the opposite direction he wanted to go. "Maybe I should go back and try the police again?" He wondered out loud to himself as he pushed the car faster.
'Can't keep searchin' every house on my own and besides with out a warrant these ass holes'll probably get me arrested- but hell if I could find Squall who really gives a shit.' He thought, as the car bumped across the bridge he let out a sigh and continued thinking. 'That guy back there seemed kind of weird....does he know something or is he just an idiot?' He downcast his eyes a second then looked back ahead of him to the road.
'Who ever has you though, will wish they hadn't....' He turned his head and looked at the passenger side to his gun. '...and Exeter will make sure of that.'

At the presidential palace everyone is trying to act as though nothing is wrong but they couldn't help the silence in the room. "I spy with my bionic eye, something that starts wiiiith, H?" Zell said cheerfully.
"A house." Quistis answered trying not to sound bored.
"Shut up chicken wuss." Seifer suggested and the martial artist frowned and looked down defeated.
"Well uh....we could uuhh?" Laguna was trying to suggest but nothing was coming to him.
"How's about we play charades?" Selphie suggested. "Huh? Wouldn't that be fun?" She looked at their faces to see if any one were with her in the idea.
"How 'bout we just watch TV and pretend this day isn't happening?" The ex-knight remarked trying to shut everyone up. He had enough on his mind and trying to play stupid games wasn't gonna fix it. 'Gods of all the dumb things you decide to do, couldn't he wait until after Thanksgiving to get lost when no one important would notice?' He thought to himself bitterly.
"So when do you think Squ-" Laguna started but Zell cut him off by saying.
"You know what we should do? Make turkeys out of pine cones." He looked at Selphie for back up and she made a face at him and then it hit and she replied.
"Oh! Oh yeah! We did that all the time in Trabia it's a great idea." The hyperactive girl stood up and followed Zell out of the room.
'What is going on here?' Laguna wondered as the others gradually got up with sighs and followed the other two out of the room. 'Did Squall and Irvine decide not to come, that would explain why he's not here too....' A frown spread over the presidents face as he walked out of the room.

Back on the road, Irvine was a distance home when he saw the cop car up ahead. The sniper nearly slammed down on the brakes to stop it and he backed himself up a distance to watch the man talk.
The officer is parked on the side of the road sitting in his car with the door open and his legs hanging out over the side and he's on his car phone. "I wish I could hear what he was saying." Irvine said to himself and decided getting a closer look would be best.
The cowboy climbed out of the car and snuck into the woods hiding along side of the trees to get over to the parked cars location. 'Perfect.' He thought as the mans voice was coming in.
"I know that I'm out of my territory on this one but I know I can find this girl and this guy Squall."
'He's looking for Squall too.' Irvine thought. 'But what little girl?' He wondered and moved a bit closer.
"I'm not gonna give up just because it's Thanksgiving....." The officer listened to the person on the other end then sighed. "All right, good bye." He hung up and rubbed his temples with his thumbs.
"The whole world stops moving because of some damn turkey dinners. Oh brother." He said and turning his legs back into the car and closed the door. "Wait a minute what in the world is that?" The officer asked himself and he climbed out of his car crossing the street to the other side of the forest. He saw in the distance a car half way in a ditch and decided to go investigate it.
"As long as someone is out here with me, then findin' him won't be so hard." Irvine said walking back to his car.
When he opened the door and sat down pulling his legs in, he caught a glimpse of something white underneath his boot. "Man, what a nasty road this is, can't they send someone out here to clean it?" He pulled the slip of paper from his boot and noticed red on the back, his curiosity was naturally high and he unfolded it looking it over. The paper simply said. Edgeler Vestdemon house 2- and it was ripped in half, the cowboy frowned but then he remembered the red and turned the slip of paper over reading. "KILLER."
It didn't take him even a second to realize that the hand writing belonged to- "Squall." He said out loud. "This doesn't give me much of a lead. But was he comin' or goin'?" He asked as if someone were with him to know the answer. He closed the door of the car and started it up continuing down the road.
The officer was investigating the car and found nothing to give him any leads in the case. "Man, this one might just have to be left as an unsolved mystery...just when we were so close to finding that girl Chyna and this Squall who ever…"
As the cop turned away a slip of paper caught his eye and he picked it up. The only thing on it was a 6 and 27. It was torn so he didn't think much of it but it might be something. The cop stuffed the slip of paper into his pocket and walked back to his car. "This whole damn thing is beginning to become a wild goose chase." He said to himself and climbed into his car starting it up.
