Chapter One- Awakening (Ne Me Mori Facias)
-------

Cloud and the others looked to the fields below them. Holy and the lifestream had just collided with meteor over Midgar. The city below was slowly falling to ruins as they watched. Cloud could sense some powerful force nearby helping the planet. Then, Cid yelled out something and everyone hit the deck of the Highwind. Their collusion with the floor was soon follow by a blinding flash at Midgar. Yuffie slowly opened her eyes to see the small remains of meteor fall safely to the ground below. She forgot about her motion sickness and ran to the guard rail. She was soon followed by the others. Cait Sith seemed to be performing some kind of victory dance. Then Reeve's voice came over the cat's microphone.
"Great news everyone! It seems that no one was killed. And most of Midgar was left intact. We have done it! With Sephiroth and Jenova gone the world was no worries left...." Reeve's voice said happily.
"Great now we have nothing to do anymore." Cid said lighting a cigar.
"Do me a favor and drop me off when we go over Nibelheim." Vincent said looking to Cid.
"Whatever vampire boy..." Cid replied, "Anymore requests from the peanut gallery?"
"Wutai!" Yuffie screamed.
"Cosmos Canyon, please." Nanaki answered.
"Costa de Sol." Cloud and Tifa said in unison.
"Well I guess that you can drop me off here." Barret commented.
"Me too." Cait Sith said jumping with joy.
"Well I guess I have no choice but to drop all of you off." Cid answered.
Hours passed and everyone eventually said their good-byes and started off to lives of their own. Cid had to admit that it was too quiet on the Highwind without the others. He blew a puff of smoke into the air. He had only one place left to go... Rocket Town. Finally he would be able to live in peace with his dream fulfilled. But something did not feel right to him. Something was out of place, still he did not know what.

The next week went smoothly for the entire planet and its life forms. Our heroes have sought refugee in all corners of the world. Life seemed a little bit to boring for their lives. The most boring being Yuffie, who since her return has only had parties after more boring parties. Godo walked in with a smile across his face. She sighed knowing what was to come.
"Yuffie, tonight is very special... For you see tonight we feast for our Water God that protects us!" Godo gleamed.
"Oh goody..." Yuffie replied rolling her eyes.
Godo chuckled before walking into his own. Yuffie stuck her tongue at him as soon as he closed the door. She stared down at her clothes. A kimono stained red with patches of magenta on some places. Not her favorite choice of wear but it was all her father wanted to wear to day. Once again she found herself staring off into space. There was nothing else to do.

Reeve paced around his office like a mad man. Something was out of place. For one thing Scarlet and Heidegger mysteriously vanished from the hospital with no traces of them to be found. Another was the fact that Reno and his Turks gang were not coming in for regular orders. Not to mention it was left up to him to rebuild Shinra and resume duties as its president. What trouble that was going to be considering the public hated Shinra. His pacing was stopped as he fell to the floor, unconscious. In the doorway stood a man in a coat, his red hair shining in the sunlight. A smirk came across his face as he placed his gun in its halter.
"Mission accomplished." the red haired man said.

The lifestream had calmed and no longer bubbled up as it once did. Now that it was covered by its protective barrier once again. Everything seemed quiet, even the monsters did not stir. The dying sounds of Jenova still haunted this area. A memory the Planet nor any human would soon forget. But one soul still can not forget so easily. The peace of this crater is disturbed the echoing sounds of a rock falling out of place. The movement came from a alcove in the cliff side that had been buried in layers of rocks and sediment. The point of a large blade emerges through the debris and causes more rocks to fall. Then, after what seemed like eternity a man with silver hair looked over the edge of the small cliff he was on. His hair caked with dried blood that came from a wound in his head. He smiled slightly until a wave of pain forced him on the ground once again. His eyes were turquoise and had a glow to them that seemed to have stopped once he fell back on the ground. Several wounds lined his body. Now he seriously wished he had not used his left arm. It was wounded severely and he could no longer feel it. And now he regretted leaning on his knees. On further inspection he found that he had an open fracture below his right knee cap. He sighed and looked to his armor slots on his shoulders. The dark holes concealed his most prized materia. He pulled out a green one and stared at it. He coughed and smiled. This was the one he needed.
"Tele...p.or..t.." he managed to get out.
A green light surrounded him as he transferred his thoughts into thinking about the place he had loved the most. With all of his strength the green light consumed him leaving but a trail of blood where he had been.

----

Yuffie stared at the midnight sky. The party was still continuing but herself and a few townspeople had already left. She was bored and decided that she would visit Da Chao for old times sake. The place was barren, she had defeated most of the monsters when she came back but a few were left. No big threat she thought. The wind was blowing slightly and she sat upon the ledge at the top of Da Chao. For once she had time to herself. The first in heaven knows how long. Everything was in silence and she sighed once o break the undying silence. Then as she was about to get up her eyes caught the attention of a green light not too far off in the forest. She grabbed her Conformer and ran inside aimed and ready to fight.
She heard what seemed to be the sound of footsteps. They were long and heavy. Then after further investigation she realized they came from a human wearing leather boots. Before she knew it, she caught a glimpse of something shining through the thick underbrush. Then she yelled out something and the figure turned slowly to face her. As the figure moved closer she begun to recognize features. A long sword dressed in black with leather boots. White shoulder pads that were used as armor. Then she caught a glimpse of the figure's silver hair in the moonlight. She gasped as she realized who she was standing near. She stared into his eyes that no longer reflected hatred or desire but reflected pain. His bangs coated in a layer of dried blood. As she neared him he stopped moving and slumped down slightly to his left with his arm hanging limply at his side.
"Sephiroth..." Yuffie hissed, "This time I make sure you stay dead."
"Please listen and believe me... I am sorry for what crimes I have committed... I did not mean for this to happen... But Jenova... I wish to mend what has been... Forgive me..." Sephiroth said in a weakened voice.
Yuffie looked at him, harshly. She wanted to hit him. Looking at him, she knew he was on his last leg and could not fight back very well. Yet, he did not budge as she ready to throw her Conformer. She lowered her weapon and stared him in the eyes. She remembered what he had mumbled out, "Forgive me." Could he really have come back to apologize? She walked closer to him and he still did not make an attempt to move. He started looking around dizzily, and then his left leg that supported him fell before his own body weight. Yuffie caught him and laid him on the ground, slowly. His head laid in her lap. His eyes were full of pain and begging for help. He weakly reached his mangled left hand to her face. He rested his hand on her cheek and smiled. Yuffie was surprised that Sephiroth was acting this way. He was acting human for once. She noticed that his black glove, which was torn in several places, was covered in blood, his blood. He coughed which caused his left hand to leave her cheek and rest upon his stomach. Blooded trickled down his mouth and down his neck. He looked terrible as she examined his body for his wounds. Cloud and the others had messed him up pretty badly.
She wanted to leave him there to die. An inner voice inside her, though, stopped her. He was slowly slipping into unconsciousness and she could sense it. A million questions ran through her mind at that moment. She was awakened from her thoughts as he coughed again bringing more blood pooling into his mouth. She cursed at herself for her next course of action. She slowly picked up Sephiroth in her arms. She used all of her strength to carry the man. He was light, but his muscles made him weigh more and so did that accursed weapon of his. He slumped slightly as soon as his whole body left the ground behind. He looked at her in confusion, but his eyes reflected a whispered thank you.
"Hold on..." She whispered to him.
She looked to the house that her father called home. Now it was occupied by Kentaro, a man who was a doctor and had lived in Wutai for years. She ran for the house as fast as her legs would allow her to. She looked at the man in her arms and she could tell that the wind was biting and tearing at this wounds. He grimaced from the pain and she could of sworn she heard a moan of pain escape his lips. It took her no time to reach the house. She opened the door and ran inside yelling Kentaro's name out. Kentaro came out from inside the kitchen. He was an old man with gray hair wearing a gi and hakama like the rest of the males in Wutai. He was about the same age as Godo or older. His gaze fell upon the injured Sephiroth. His mouth opened slightly in shock and surprise. This was the same boy no man that he helped raised many years ago. He nodded to Yuffie and they rushed into Godo's room. Since he no longer used it no one would argue with them.
Yuffie placed Sephiroth on her father's futon and she looked to Kentaro. He was pulling things out from the closet that they may need. Yuffie quickly picked up Masamune and set it against a wall for the time being. Kentaro quickly glanced at the sword and smiled, she had kept her promise. They worked through all hours of the night mending Sephiroth and keeping him alive. Eventually somewhere between cleaning and dressing the wounds, Sephiroth had fallen into an disturbed slumber dreaming of a torturous past.

----Sephiroth's Dream----

A young boy is held by a lady in an uniform. The boy is Sephiroth around age three or so. The lady walks forward into a large building. The lights blinded him but he could see through the slits in his eyes. The lady entered an elevator and pushed a button that lead to a floor near the top. When the elevator came to a stop they entered what seemed to be a laboratory. Scientists greeted the boy but one looked at him curiously. His man had glasses and frightened the child. The lady followed the man to the back labs. Inside a glass casing was a lion like creature roaring. The lady placed the child to the ground and he ran to the glass pressing his face against it. Young Sephiroth placed a hand to the glass and the beast repeated the gesture with his paw.
"Hi, my name is Sephiroth. What's yours?" the young Sephiroth asked.
"I have no name. A young child such as yourself has no right to be here. Watch out for the one they call Hojo. He can not be trusted." the beast replied.
Sephiroth eyed the beast strangely. Then he was picked up by two hands. He was facing that doctor from before. Sephiroth squirmed in the man's grip. The man gave him an evil smile. He placed Sephiroth on a table in a white room with all kinds of machines.
"So this is the child I have heard so much about. Well he will certainly live up to Shinra's expectations." the man said.
"But Dr. Hojo, don't you think he is a little too young?" the nurse asked.
"Nonsense my dear." Hojo replies holding up a syringe.
Sephiroth remembers the beast's words and tries to make a run for it. He is grabbed by another nurse and strapped to the table by metal restraints. Hojo walks towards him with the syringe still in hand. It was filled with a light blue substance to the brim. Sephiroth fought the restrains but it was no use. Hojo placed out the main vein in his wrist. Hojo jabbed the syringe into the tender flesh. Sephiroth fought against it as he watched the contents being emptied into his bloodstream. Sephiroth screamed as the substance caused his arm to feel like fire. Hojo laughed withdrawing the syringe and he looked to the machines. The readings were off the chart.
"Now little one experience the feeling of being inside the Ancient's mind." Hojo said with an evil grin.
"Doctor, the lady told me he does not seem to remember anything but his mother's name and most likely his own." an assistant stated.
"We shall test that." Hojo replied turning to Sephiroth, "What is your name, boy?"
"Sephiroth..." Sephiroth answered.
"Well, from now own you no longer have a name. You are known as experiment Jenova Specimen Beta. You are perfection in the making. Since you birth your destiny has been to lead us the lowly people of this accursed Planet to the Promise Land." Hojo said with an evil grin, "Schedule begins tomorrow. First off he gets two rations daily, one in the morning and the other before bed. After his stirs he is to have a three hour training session in my new holographic arena. Then he shall be schooled until eighteen hundred hours. At that time he will report to the lab to receive treatment."
"Where is my mother?" Sephiroth managed to say through his fiery world of pain.
"She is dead." Hojo stated coldly.
Sephiroth could not hold back the water that began to form in his glowing turquoise eyes. The tears flowed down his cheeks until they gathered in a small pool on the metal examination table. Hojo heard the muffled sob that escaped his lips. Hojo walked over and slapped him across the face leaving a large red mark.
"Rule number one, you never cry!" Hojo yelled, "Take him to the holding room until I can move him into a permanent room."

-----End of Dream----

Sephiroth shoot up on his futon in a heavy sweat. He was sitting up and pain came to. He laid back down to the comforting pillow. He noticed his wounds were mended. His right leg set in a brace. They had forced his bone back into place. He glanced around the room to find Yuffie sleeping in the corner next to the window. It was dawn by the looks of the light shining through. He remembered what had happened last night and made a note to thank Yuffie and Kentaro. Someone had covered him with a thick blanket. He smiled to himself. He heard someone stirring and he looked in Yuffie's direction.
Yuffie yawned and stretched her arms out in front of herself. She blinked a few times and opened her eyes and smiled slightly. The first thing she noticed were the glowing turquoise eyes that stared at her. Too much like Mako she thought to herself. His face remained stotic as she crawled slowly over to the futon he was confined to. She still had a wavering feeling of trust with him. As of this moment he had not proven he was trustworthy.
"Now, before I ask anything let's get one thing straight. If you even look like you are going to hurt me then I will make sure that you find a world of pain." Yuffie stated.
"Sure thing." he replied, "Oh, I thank you, Yuffie, for last night."
"Well your welcome... First off what in chocobo's name are you doing here?!" Yuffie commented.
"Long story..." Sephiroth mumbled.
"I have got the time." Yuffie said cocking her head, "You can start by explaining what you mean by you are sorry."
"Well... You probably will not believe me... Like all things Jenova came in contact with I was controlled and forced to do her deeds." Sephiroth began.
"Yup he is lying." Yuffie thought to herself.
"I heard that." Sephiroth toughted.
"How did you..." Yuffie stammered.
"I can read minds." Sephiroth snickered.
"Now I really hate you..." Yuffie said crossing her arms.
