Chapter 41

Shukera shook her head and walked back to Elena with Tifa, Cloud, Irvine, and Selphie. "Come on; let's go see what you have to show me." Shukera remained on guard as she followed Elena to the Underwater Reactor.

Elena led them down the dark corridor that connected to the elevator that would eventually take them down to the glass tube under the ocean. They stepped inside the elevator and Cloud pressed the down button. Shukera's hand constantly remained next to her sword, ready for anything. There was something strange about the whole thing with Elena. The elevator doors opened and Elena stepped out followed by the others. Shukera looked around and saw that they were in an unfamiliar area of the reactor. Immediately she drew her sword and pointed it at Elena.

"What the hell are you trying to pull??"

Elena motioned to the slightly opened area that had a small sliver of light shining through it. Shukera cautiously stepped towards it. Cloud drew his sword as Irvine drew his shotgun. She carefully opened the door with her sword and her eyes widened when she saw Reno.

Elena tapped her on the shoulder and pointed as she whispered, "Look around Reno's neck." Reno wore Aerith's ribbon around his neck like a trophy.

Just then Reeve stepped out from the shadows and tossed Reno a weapon. Shukera recognized it immediately. From her standpoint she could see Reno talking to Scarlet and waving the gunblade around. A closer look revealed the large machine they were working on.

Elena whispered, "He knows where your friend Aerith is."

Shukera looked back at Selphie and motioned to Reno, "He has Seifer's gunblade. They have to be together somewhere!!"

Selphie sighed, "Shukera I think they are trying to lure you to them!

A guard walked up behind them and laughed, "Well, well, well, what do we have here??" He went to use his radio when Tifa kicked it out of his hand and smashed it. Then she spun around and kicked him, forcing him into the wall.

More guards came rushing in after him and stared attacking the group.

Shukera shouted, "You guys hold them off!! I'm going to get Reno!!"

Tifa shouted, "You're crazy!!!" But she was already gone.

Shukera ran down the stairs, her sword clutched tightly in her hand. Reno looked up to see what all the noise was about and saw the guards fighting Cloud and the others. Scarlett and Reeve made a run for it, leaving Reno behind to deal with what ever was going on. Reno went to run, but Shukera had swung down from the rafter and kicked him in the chest.

"RENO!!" She glared at him hatefully as she pointed her sword at him. "DAMN YOU RENO!!!" She filled with disgust as she saw Aerith's ribbon around his neck.

Reno laughed as he held his hand out. "Ha look who finally decided to show up. How have you been?? You missed me??" He made kissing motions with his lips mocking her.

Shukera held her sword at ready as she spat, "I have nothing to say to you Reno!!! I know you were hired by Shin Ra to keep an eye on me and Aerith!!"

Reno laughed, "Oh it was so funny watching you two all these years, playing up to you, watching Aerith and you becoming friends, reporting it all to Shin Ra!!"

Shukera stepped forward and Reno moved back slightly and swung the gunblade. "Nice touch don't you think??" He placed the gunblade on his shoulder and smirked, "Although it's not my style. Too much work to use one of these babies."

Shukera spat, "You're too fucking stupid to use a sword!!"

Reno held his hand out to his side, "Aww such harsh words and pretty foolish for one who knows that I have their friend." He dangled the ribbon in front of Shukera. "Pretty isn't it?? She cried when we took it from her." He smirked, his voice filled with sarcasm, "We took her child she cried even harder!! Poor Aerith, losing her materia, then losing her child, now she's going to lose her best friend!!"

Before Reno's words registered in her mind, guards attacked Shukera from behind and she spun around with her sword. One of the guards was immediately sliced through the midsection. The other two guards jumped back away from the sword's blade. Shukera jumped and grabbed the rafter above and swung her feet, catching one of the guards in the chest. He was thrown back and slammed into the wall. The impact knocked him unconscious.

The last guard drew a stun gun and laughed as he charge at her. She jumped back from him and swung at him with her sword. He held his foot out and tripped her. She fell to the floor and her sword fell out of her hand. The guard kicked it away from her reach. Shukera smirked and threw her body forward and landed on her feet. She stood at ready, waiting for the guy to attack. He smirked as he kept jumping at her. She only jumped back away from him. In the corner of her eye she spotted another guard coming up on the side of her.

Quickly Shukera spun around, grabbed the sneaking guard by the arm and twisted it behind him. He cried out in pain as she pulled his arm even further behind his back. The guard with the stun gun rushed Shukera and she spun the man around, causing the guard with the stun gun to hit his own man. She held up her fists as she faced the last guard remaining. Flipping her hair out of her eyes, she waited for the guy to attack once again. The guy charged her and she delivered a side kicked to the head. He was thrown back a bit and spat blood from his split lip. He gritted his teeth as he charged her again. This time she jumped in the air and caught his head between her legs. She fell down to the ground, forcing him down with her. Before he could stun her with the gun she threw her body to the side, breaking his neck with the force. The guard laid limp on the ground and Shukera jumped back to her feet.

She casually walked over to her sword and picked it up. With it resting on her shoulder she walked up to Reno. "What's the matter Reno?? Scared to fight me yourself??"

He slowly backed away from her despite the gunblade he held in his hand. "I'll have you killed!!!"

Shukera smirked as she continued to walk towards him, "You have me killed??" She laughed, mocking him. "By who or what?? Scarlett?? Reeve?? That Quistis bitch??"

Reno stopped backing up and grinned deviously. "By Seifer of course. It was rather easy getting him to join us. All we had to do was offer him power, then we convinced him that you were there to take over the garden and not to protect him. Come on Shukera, we all know how you are lacking in the heart department!! As if he really mattered!! This is all a game to you Shukera!! Trying to play hero and seeing how far you can take this!!! You even brought people from another world into your little game!!! But you have to admit, telling you I loved you was a nice touch, don't you think?" He laughed, "And to think you actually believed me!!!"

Shukera threw her sword down and charged at Reno as blinding rage coursed through her. "I'LL FUCKING KILL YOU WITH MY BEAR HANDS YOU SORRY SON-OF-A-BITCH!!!"

Reno's eyes widened as he turned and ran from her. He jumped up to catch the rafters above and tried to pull himself to the upper level. Shukera jumped up and caught him around the waist. The others watched as she pulled Reno down to the ground next to her and began to attack him. She kicked him in the stomach, then in the chest and punched him in the face. Reno fell back and grabbed his ribs and looked at Shukera in horror and surprise. She drew back her fist and punched him in the nose, breaking it immediately. Blood began to drop on the ground from his face as he tried to back away from her. She went to kick him again when Irvine and Cloud grabbed her and dragged her away from him.

Shukera shouted in a rage as they dragged her off. "I'M GONNA KILL THAT MOTHER FUCKER!!! LET ME GO!!!"

Selphie pleaded with Shukera. "You are never going to find Seifer if you kill him!!!"
