Final Fantasy - All Series Fan Fiction ❯ Love By Moonlight ❯ Journey Home ( Chapter 5 )
Chapter Five.
Zell was laying in his bed with his eyes opened for a good long while. His hand was holding his neck as though he were protecting it from any chances of being bitten again. 'How can he sleep after what happened to me, isn't he worried?' Zell wondered, listening to Irvine's snore. 'What am I worried about? I mean, so what if one of them knows where I'm staying,' He smiled to the thought. 'they don't know what room I'm in.'
Zell snuggled into his blanket and grinned. "Yeah, what the hell am I worried about, he won't come after me." Turning over in the bed he closed his eyes and slowed his breathing to get himself tired. 'Nooothing to worry about.' He reassured and exhaled happily feeling sleep run through him.
.....................................
'What's gotten into me?' Seifer thinks as he and Squall rush roof top over roof top following a limousine up town. 'I kill humans all the time but this one....' He paused mid-sentence and leaped side ways criss-crossing Squalls path over to his side. 'This one is different.'
They run a little faster as the limo speeds up again heading for the outskirts of town. 'Maybe I could see him again?' He wondered repeating the motion from before. '....No, that's stupid.' He shook the image away. 'Why would I want to see a human?'
Squall looked at Seifer giving him the signal and he grinned handsomely, leaping off the roof onto the hood of the car making it bump up in the back tossing the occupants upwards. "Whoa!" They called out. "Driver what the fuck are you doing?!" The passenger of the car yelled through the intercom. "Go around the pot holes!" The man turned to his friends. "I'm sorry about that, he's such an asshole sometimes." The man was saying.
The car was bumped into the air again only not as high this time and from the back. "Dammit." The guy said leaning to the front of the vehicle and banging on the tinted window that separated the guest from the driver. "What the fuck is goin' on up there!"
Crack... Crack....
"Um, Stephen." The small group of people looked up seeing foot print shaped cracks appear on the back window. When the cracks paused there was a pounding on the roof of the car.
The group was quiet, listening to the sound when-....Crash!! Seifer broke through the window into the back. "AAAAHHHHH!!!!!" Everyone scrambled out of the way and the blonde grabbed the first body his claws came into contact with and he brought him up to his mouth. "Heeelp Meeee!!!" The woman cried.
Seifer bit down into the woman's neck. There was a low laugh above their heads. Squall was still on top of the car, standing straight up waiting for the right moment when the car would crash into a wall for him to make his move.
One of the men in the car began to pound down on Seifers back but the blonde pushed him off slamming him into the side door. "Ugh!"
"Oh my god, Robert!" The assault to the first woman ended and Seifer turned around grabbing the owner of the car.
"Please don't kill me! I'll give you what ever you want!" He tried to shield himself from the attack. "I'm worth millions, and more in ransom, but please do-...AAAHHH!!!" Seifer ignored his pleas and enjoyed the taste of his fear mixed with the blood.
"Someone help us!" The women kept calling. The limo swerved right and smashed into the rocks that lined the street like a giant wall. The occupants of the car didn't care what they hit, they were making a run for it.
"Get out of my way." One of the men shouted pushing a woman in the face to get the door opened. Another of the girls climbed through the driver window to the front and screamed when she saw the driver. His face was frozen in horror and his neck was nearly gone.
"Aaaahhhh!!!!" She jumped out the front door.
"Aaaaarrrrr!!!!" Squall I straddled on top of Robert, biting down into his collar bone and then he turned when he heard the womans screams.
"No, no please don't!" But it was too late and he'd already leapt on top of her biting down into her neck. Seifer climbed out of the car and walked across the street to a woman that was trying to climb the wall on the opposite side.
"I can't die, I can't! I've got kids at home!" She shrieked.
"We've all gotta go sometime." Seifer was saying pulling her down the distance she had climbed.
Back in the hotel room. Zell is tossing and turning in his sleep, breathing hard. "Noo...." He muttered. "Nooo!!!!" Snapping up out of his sleep Zell sat up in the bed panting heavily.
"You alright?" Irvine asked turning on a light. Zell sat there panting and horrified. "What's wrong?" Irvine asked again and Zell's hand snapped up to his neck, the cut had started bleeding again and he sighed in pain or maybe it was something else.
* * *
The next morning. "You got everything?" Irvine asked, still holding concern in his voice over last night. The two were packing their things getting ready to leave for Balamb just as they had planned to, only nobody was really saying anything until now.
"Looks like it." Zell replied going muted again and it was beginning to get a bit irritating.
"So like, you gonna tell me what you were dreamin' or am I gonna have to guess?" The cowboy asked.
"I'll tell you later, I promise. Right now lets just get going." Zell said hoisting his bag up off the floor, slipping the strap over his head. "Come on." He remarked going to the door with Irvine close behind.
The man from the other day walked out of his room and into the hall way. "Mornin' sir." Irvine said as the guy went by but the man just snubbed him. "Rude people we got around here." He stated getting on the elevator, but Zell wasn't convinced that was the reason he didn't say anything.
'That's the guy from yesterday, and he has a bandage on his neck in the same place mine is-...did that guy make it in here and-...'
"You gettin' on or am I ridin' by myself?" Cracked the cowboy.
"Right, sorry." Zell stepped onto the elevator, putting his carrying suit case down and pushing the button for the first floor.
....................
"All aboard!!" The train conductor called.
Zell and Irvine took their seats and made themselves comfortable. Irvine's first initial plan was to look at the scenery out the window but he'd just suddenly remembered Zell's promise. "Hey," He said tapping his friend who was getting ready to listen to his head phones.
"What?" The martial artist asked looking a little agitated.
"You promised me you were gonna tell me what was up with you last night, so spill it." The cowboy said jabbing his friend in the shoulder with a finger.
"....You're really pushy, you know that?" Zell remarked but Irvine just grinned it off.
"Part of my charm."
Zell shook the comment away then thought up a way to explain it. "Last night, I-..." 'No, that isn't the best way to explain it.' He thought again, then the train began to move. "You know how when you're a kid, and you're afraid of things but your parents say they're not real?" He asked and Irvine nodded.
"You're not one for talk when you wanna know something, huh?" Zell commented and Irvine's face scrunched in confusion.
"Whaat?" He asked but Zell waved a hand.
"It doesn't matter right now, but those things your parents said aren't real, right?" He paused. "Well, what if they were?"
Irvine tried to register what the hells it was Zell was saying to him, but no sense came from it and he shook his head. "Nope, haven't got a clue what yer talkin' about." He said and turned his attention else where.
'Some help you weren't.' Zell thought and slid his headphone's up over his ears, blasting a song.
The train ride home had gone smoothly and they were nearly there when a sudden bang of thunder rang through the sky. Zell instinctively snapped up Irvine's arm and the cowboy patted his friends hand for comfort, but continued looking out the window as if nothing were going on.
"There's nothing to worry about folks we're hitting a little rough weather but that's all, you'll be fine." The conductor said. "Yeah right, he apparently never saw that special on 'real tv' about train wrecks,"
A bolt of lightning shot through the air and Zell covered his ears from the thunder; accidentally his vision went out the window and he saw something in the distance. 'What the-?!' Not something- someone!
They were by a tree but… the form, the out look- it looked like the man in the park! 'He wouldn't follow me, what reason would he have to?' Zell was asking himself hoping for an answer but none came to him. 'I'm crazy and seeing things, the dream rattled me more than I thought it would that's all.....'
The martial artist tried relaxing in his seat but he kept an eye on the window making sure that none of the other trees were harvesting any-...well what ever they are's. 'As soon as I get home, I'm never leaving the house.'
