Plucking a strawberry out of a blue bowl he held it up to Starla's lips. Smiling, she took a bite. Her cheeks were rosy with a bright blush. Sephiroth had insisted on feeding her, stating she should rest more. Now he sat casually without his jacket, in a hotel near the hospital, feeding her.

Starla couldn't help but to notice his muscular body, and the scars that accompanied it. Some small, some very large and long. Some bright with newness, others faded with age. Signs he had been through a lot. Of course he did, he was their enemy.

But not anymore.

A blood stopping scream sounded through the thin walls of the inn. Startled Starla bit down on Sephiroth's finger. He barely noticed as he leaped from the bed and grabbed his masumune. Glaring coldly at Starla before exiting the room. He did not want her to fallow and be put in dangers way. If anyone screaming it was for one obvious reason.

The was sun rising in the East, casting it's first fingers on the cool day. Few rays catching Sephiroth's hair casting it a fiery red tinge. His bare skin formed tiny goose bumps over the well formed muscles as he strode towards the scream. It was still pretty dark, but time had taught him to see in this light as well as day.

Walking down a hallway Sephiroth slowed. His heart beat harder, tense with danger. The sound of feet vibrated the air. Many other people herd the scream and was coming running. Ahead he finally saw where the scream had come. It was to late for her. A woman lay crumpled over her daughter. Both obviously dead.

Cautiously Sephiroth reached down and checked for a pause just to make sure. They were both dead. Looking at her face, he realized her dead eyes looked back at him terrified. Shaking his head disgusted at the waist he reached over and shut her eyes.

"YOU KILLED HER YOU BASTARD!"

Sephiroth looked up to see a knife coming for him. Defensively he raised his hand and caught the slash across the palm of his hand. Then he grabbed the man and shoved him back, backing up himself. Sephiroth growled lowly at the man.

"I did not kill her." Sephiroth said sternly clutching his hand. "I just got here and they were dead... Are they your family?"

"YOU KILLED THEM!" He screamed again.

By this time the people, Sephiroth took them to be guards, came up behind the man. The man accusingly pointed at Sephiroth. His chest heaved up and down in the growing light. By this time the pure red could be seen in his once handsome face. This indeed was his family. His wife, and his young daughter. To top it all off it looked like she was far along in a pregnancy.

"He killed them, he killed my family!"

"I didn't-If cut her open now you might save the baby."

A white hot pain shot through his nerves paralyzing him temporarily. Sephiroth's body twitched in shocking pain. Registering something that ran down his back to be cool. Nearly collapsing to his knees he turned drawing his masumune. A clashing noise, and the sword jarred painfully in Sephiroth's hands, but he held firm.

Everyone backed off giving Cloud room. Walking over to the woman he used a dagger to cut her open. Pulling the baby out unceremoniously by the leg. By the look of it, it was a boy baby. It squirmed a little and gave a gurgle of a cry. Sephiroth was right in that it might still be alive.

"Let this be a sign that I'm not so cold hearted." Cloud sneered and tossed the baby towards his father.

Whether or not the baby survived the toss, or whether his father caught it Sephiroth didn't know. Cloud was once again bearing down on Sephiroth. Sephiroth was ready and charged Cloud too. Both only saw only each other. The world, and their pain forgotten.
