Erin moaned, and it felt like she couldn't breathe. Probably because Ashley and Amanda were lying on top of her.
"Get off of me!" she whispered to them.
They did so, and Erin got off, brushing dirt off her shirt and jeans.
"Where are we?" Amanda asked.
"Could this be Sector 7?" Ashley asked no one in particular.
"I think it is, Ash, I think it is. Uh oh, looks like Barret's heading this way!" Erin whispered to the two others.
They ducked behind a building as a large, muscular man with a gun attached to his right arm suddenly ran into the scene. He had a brown vest on that was almost as dark as him with no shirt under it. He also had a tattoo on his left shoulder.
The man started shooting into a building called the `Seventh Heaven'. Several people ran out of it, and the members of Avalanche ran in.
"Looks like they are just getting back from bombing reactor 1," Erin whispered to the two.
"Huh?" Amanda asked.
"Shush! Oh my god... Cloud!" Ashley whispered excitedly to the two.
Barret yelled something at Cloud, and waited for him at the entrance to Tifa's bar. Cloud started exploring, and spotted the three teenagers.
"I haven't seen you around her before. You don't even look like you are from the slums! And what's up with the shirt?" Cloud said loud and clear to them, which attracted Barret's attention.
Barret walked over to them.
"I know you!" Ashley concluded, "You're Cloud, and you're Barret!"
"How do you know our names?" Barret asked them.
"Because you are...mrmph," Ashley's mouth was covered by Erin's hand before she finished.
"Oh, we've been over to the Seventh Heaven a few times," Erin said instead.
"You look a little young to be drinkin'" Barret said.
"We have water. We haven't heard much though. Can we joi... OW!" Erin was stopped when Ashley bit her hand.
Erin retracted her hand and started to nurse it. Amanda started laughing, even though she had absolutely no idea what was going on.
"What my friend here is trying to ask is if we can join Avalanche?" Ashley finished.
"How do you fight?" Cloud asked, searching them for weapons.
"Oh, ummm... that's right! We need to go pick them up from the weapon shop above the Seventh Heaven!" Erin lied.
Truthfully, they actually had to go pick them out.
"Fine, we'll meet you in the basement of the Seventh Heaven. Tell Tifa that Barret said you could go down," Barret said, walking back to the bar.
"Gotcha!" Erin piped up.
Cloud followed Barret, probably to have the normal conversation that always happened. Erin and Ashley turned to Amanda, who was completely confused.
"Uh, what's goin' on here?" Amanda asked.
"We've been sucked into Final Fantasy 7! See, Avalanche is a group that opposes Shinra, which is who you could almost call the bad guys of this game. Let's head for that weapon shop!" Erin explained to her best friend in a whisper.
"O...k..."
The trio headed up the stairs to the Seventh Heaven, made a sharp turn, and headed up some hidden stairs Erin and Ashley had never seen in the game. They walked into the store, Erin practically dragging Amanda in. The three of them started searching.
"How may I help you fine young ladies?" the clerk asked, walking up to them.
"Umm, do you have anything called a `gunblade'?" Ashley asked.
"Gunblade? Ah yes, we got one in a shipment the other day, come here young lady and I'll show it to you," the clerk said, showing Ashley to the back room.
Ashley winked at them, and Erin gave her a thumbs-up sign.
"Hey Amanda, how about this staff for you?" Erin asked her friend, picking it up out of its spot and handing it to Amanda.
Amanda held it out, not really knowing what to do with it. She held onto it with both hands where there were indents for the hand and made a swish through the air with it.
"Why, it looks like you've found yourself a good weapon, young lady!" the clerk said, walking back out with a grinning Ashley right behind him.
She had a gunblade in hand that looked almost like Seifer's from Final Fantasy 8.
"Looky at what I got!" Ashley happily exclaimed, holding it in one hand, already used to its weight.
"That's great!" Erin exclaimed, turning back to the remained weapons.
She finally spotted what she had been looking for, and carefully picked it up near the center. She swung it in the same exact motion she'd seen Yuffie attack in, only it was much harder in real life than it was in the game.
Much harder.
"Why, young lady, I think you've found yourself a great weapon! You wield it easily, and you easily attacked with it," the clerk exclaimed.
"We'll get them then," Erin said.
Just then, Barret walked in and saw them holding their weapons. He nodded, a smile never crossing his face, and walked over to the clerk and handing him the money to pay for the weapons. He probably knew that they were brand new weapons anyway.
The four walked out and headed down to the Seventh Heaven. He guided them over to one of the very few tables and let them sit down.
"What would you like?" Tifa asked from behind the counter.
"Water, for all three of us!" Erin ordered.
She nodded her head, and started filling three glasses with some water. Tifa turned back to Barret.
"And you, Barret?"
"The usual."
"Right."
Tifa set work to making whatever the `usual' was.
"Well, it's getting late, head for bed. Be prepared to work in the morning though!" Barret ordered, gulping down his drink, and walked off.
The three girls slowly drank their water. Tifa walked over to them and sat down.
"Your new here. Don't usually see teens in a bar. And, you don't even look like slum folk from the looks of your clothes," Tifa commented.
"Our parents were saving up and were able to go up above the plate and get them with all the gil we had," Ashley lied.
Erin and Amanda nodded, Amanda finally catching on to what was going on.
"I see, well, Barret tells me you've joined Avalanche. I'm going to go tomorrow, so there'll be us four girls. How old are you three anyways?" Tifa explained.
"Fourteen," Erin and Ashley replied together.
"Thirteen," Amanda replied.
"I see, you sure are young to be going up against Shinra... Oh well, the more people we have the better I hope! Head for bed though," Tifa exclaimed, getting up and heading off.
~
Erin's mom walked back to Erin's room, realizing that the three teens had been exceptionally quiet since they'd gone back and shut the door.
"Erin? Amanda? Ashley?" Erin's mom asked, opening the door.
She gasped in shock at what she saw. Or didn't see.
~
Erin gulped down the last of her water.
"I wonder if mom's worried about us by now," Erin whispered to the other two.
It really was getting late, even though they couldn't see the sun. There were several snores echoing down the hallway at the back, which made Erin giggle.
"Let's head for bed. I guess we'll have to go help with the mission tomorrow. I have a feeling that they are going to scan the train though, and find that we have no id, and they have fake ones," Erin whispered.
"Yeah, I have the same feeling too," Ashley said.
"Uhhh, ok, I won't even ask," Amanda said, completely clueless.
"You'll find out Amanda. Trust us," Erin said, winking at her friend, before heading back to the room with a marker on the door that said `Newbie Girls'.
Erin rolled her eyes and silently giggled at the sign. She opened the door, walked in, and found three beds waiting for them. Each of them picked a bed, Erin and Ashley knowing that they would only have another night to be able to sleep on these somewhat comfortable beds.
