Sudden Darkness

Chapter 6:

Squall woke up, lying next to Seifer. He sat up and yawned. The alarm clock on the nightstand told
him it was lunchtime. Seifer was still asleep and was snoring lightly. Squall smiled at the blonde and
got off the bed. He straightened his wrinkled clothes and rubbed the sleep from his eyes. His
stomach made a loud noise. 'Guess I should go eat something...I don't think Seifer will wake up just
yet.' Hesitantly Squall bent down and kissed the blonde on his forehead. Showing his emotions like
this was all new to him, and made him feel somewhat awkward. Quietly, the brunette left the room.
He decided to get changed before he went to the Cafeteria. 'I hope he'll be awake when I get back..'
Squall realised he was smiling, as he walked the short distance to his own room. He was smiling, and
just out of happiness.

"You seem to be on a good mood Squall...Or are you just happy to see me?" The brunette lift his
gaze and saw Rinoa.

"Oh…Hey Rinoa.." The girl was standing in front of his door.

"I thought you were sleeping or something when I didn't get an answer...But you weren't even in
your room..." Rinoa stepped aside and allowed Squall to tap the key code to open his door. "Yeah...I
was just...taking care of business." Squall muttered and stepped in. He frowned when he noticed
Rinoa followed him and sat down on his bed. 'This must mean she's gonna join me on lunch too..'

"Uh..Rinoa, would you mind...I'm gonna get changed.." the brunette said, a little annoyed as he
rummaged through his neatly organized wardrobe. The raven-haired girl just sat there, staring at
him. "Rinoa, turn around or something." Squall repeated, when the girl didn't seem to take a hint.
"Oh! Ok." she said cheerfully and turned her back on Squall. The brunette went through his closet
and picked a grey pullover, a pair of blue jeans, and undressed himself. "Hey, no peeking Rinoa!" he
frowned at the girl who kept glancing over her shoulder. "I wasn't peeking!" she laughed. When
Squall was ready, he left the room and headed towards the Cafeteria, Rinoa following him. She was
telling him something about her new school project, but Squall wasn't listening. His mind was with
Seifer. He suddenly remembered the Garden's attitude towards the likes of him and Seifer, which
made him frown. 'Will we ever be able to be together in public?' He didn't quite like the idea of hiding
and pretending there was nothing between them but friendship. Even that would come as a surprise
to his friends.

"Hey Squall! You're not even listening!" Rinoa gave Squall her best glare, but smiled when he saw a
dark haired boy behind Squall's back. "Oh, sorry Squall...I gotta go now. I just remembered
something important." she said without even looking at Squall, and left. Squall just shrugged and
entered the Cafeteria, which was full. Every table was taken, and the room was filled with hum of
voices. 'No way am I eating here! I'll just take the food with me and go back to Seifer.' Squall had to
stand in line for a while before he could order. He kept his gaze down on the floor. The mass of
people made him feel uneasy. After a while, it was finally Squall's turn to order. He took the two
paper bags with him, and walked towards the entrance.

"Hey Squall, over here!" a familiar voice called before Squall could leave. He turned around and saw
Quistis and Selphie at a near by table. The blonde girl stood up from her chair and motioned Squall
to join them. The brunette sighed, but walked over to where the girls were eating their lunch.

"Hi! Haven't seen you in a while." Quistis greeted and sat down. "Here, you can sit with us." Selphie
smiled and pulled out a chair for Squall. The brunette just shook his head and refused.
"What? You're not gonna eat with us? But I thought you could use some company, after spending a
week at the Infarmiry?" Quistis gave Squall a questioning look. "I...I already took the food with me."
Squall told, waving his boxlunch before their eyes. The girls just shrugged and continued eating.
"Well..I'm gonna go now...bye." Squall turned to leave. "Hey Squall, to who are you taking the other
meal?" Selphie asked, raising one of her brows, a suspicious look on her petite face. Squall didn't
turn around to face the girl. After a moment of silence, he parted his lips to speak. "It's for Seifer."
He said simply, and walked towards the entrance. Selphie met Quistis' surprised eyes. "He's
delivering Seifer food?...Well that's a thing I never thought I'd live to see..." the brown-haired girl
said and took a bite from her apple.


Squall was standing in front of Seifer's door, and suddenly remembered he didn't know the damned
key-code to open the door. 'Ah man! Why the hell didn't I think of this when I left the room!' He
knocked and hoped Seifer would already be awake. There was no answer, so he knocked again.
"Seifer...let me in!" Squall stood there for a while, knocking, and finally the door slid open.
"Hey Ouch!" he yelped when Seifer slammed his palm against Squall's face, the look on his face
telling Squall he was still under the influence of Kadowaki's drug. Squall sighed and made his way in.
He put the food on the table and glanced at Seifer. 'It's a wonder he even managed to open the
door...Well, at least he's not in pain anymore..'

"Seifer, let's just put you back to bed." he said with a smile on his lips, and took the boy's hand and
led him on the bed. Squall sat next to him and took the sandwich and coffee out of his paper bag.
Seifer was smiling in his sleep, which made Squall's heart beat a few extra rounds. His mind returned
to what he had been thinking earlier. 'I wonder what the others will say when they see we've become
friends...And something more..' He actually didn't care what Zell and the others thought about him
and Seifer, but the fact that the Garden rules forbid relationships with the same sex, made his dark
brows knit together. Squall finished his sandwich and lay down next to Seifer, who was breathing
calmly. The brunette inspected the older boy's handsome features. He traced Seifer's blonde brows
with his finger. 'It's a shame I didn't realise my feelings earlier...' Squall closed his eyes and nuzzled
against Seifer's warm chest and soon fell asleep.

Squall woke up when he felt something touch his lower lip. Slowly he opened his eyes and noticed
Seifer was awake. The blonde was tracing the younger boy's lips with his fingers. There was a
focused look on his face and Squall turned his lips into a smile. When Seifer felt this, he let out a sigh
and blinked his eyes a few times. "You're finally awake." Squall said and stroked the blonde's soft
hair. "Did I sleep long?" Seifer asked, a little confused. Squall glanced at the alarm clock. "Well, I'd
say about ten and a half hours. It's past six." Seifer's brows arched up in surprise. "I told you
Kadowaki would drug me and-"

"Well she *didn't* lock you up in a nuthouse." Squall chuckled. Seifer leaned forward hesitantly.
Squall arched his brow and watched him. When Seifer's lips hit the tip of Squall's nose, instead of his
lips, they both laughed. The blonde lowered his head, and when he found Squall's lips, he slowly slid
his tongue out and thrust it into the brunette's waiting mouth. Seifer pulled Squall closer. The heat
from the younger boy's body made his heart beat faster. He inhaled the stunning scent of Squall's
hair and closed his green eyes. The brunette's hands were soon roaming down his back, and made
their way under Seifer's shirt. The feel of Squall's soft hands on his bare skin made the blonde moan.
Squall was smiling inwardly at the reaction he got from the other man. He lowered his hands down to
