The Life of Erin Tribal

Chapter 9

They walked into a different room. Erin looked around and saw huge tubes all around. The trio walked to the back of the room and Celes went to grab something. Terra went and leaned against a wall, seemingly bored.

When Celes walked back in, she held two things, one in each hand. Erin looked at them and saw them glowing green. She seemed confused.

"Which do you like better Erin, Ifrit or Shiva?" Celes asked before explaining anything.

"Shiva," Erin replied, not showing her confusion, "It is my so-called `Royal' name after all."

"All right then," Celes replied, handing the one in her left hand to Terra. Terra took it to the room Celes had just been in. She held the other one in her right hand, looking at it. "Isn't it just coincidence that that's exactly what Terra uses?"

"I guess," Erin said, glancing over at Terra, then back at Celes' right hand. "But my question is, what is that?"

Celes thought for a second, thinking of exactly how to explain it. Before she could reply, though, Terra answered.

"It's an Esper," explained Terra, standing straight. "It's what we use for magic. Each one holds the magic powers of a certain one. The one that I just took into that room has Ifrit in it. Now, the one here in Celes', your mom's, hand has Shiva in it."

"From what I know, each Esper has a body form with their spirit in them. Last I heard, Ifrit and Shiva, maybe even Kirin, but I don't know, were around Vector out in the world," Celes explained, hopefully solving all of Erin's questions.

Erin frowned, looking up at the two. This was when she had first noticed it. They seemed relatively tall compared to here. Then again, she was only 6-years-old.

"Well, we have a different name for them where I'm from. We call them Eidolons. I can summon them. But I'm not strong enough, or so I'm told, to summon the ones I carry. Besides, I've never heard of this.. this.. Kirin." Erin said, looking puzzled.

"I don't blame them. You probably do hold some of the strongest…" started Celes, but was interrupted by Erin.

"Yeah, I hold the same ones as my older sister. She's 6 years older than me too!" Erin said, almost yelling.

"Woah, tempers down here. I realized that. All you basically have to do is train with this equipped. We don't have enough time to actually infuse it in you. That takes days," explained Celes.

Erin flinched when she heard the word `infuse'. She just looked at Celes, then took the Esper and stuck it in the belt she had on.

"Now, let's test some of that magic you have already Erin. Terra and I will train, and when it shows that either of us is becoming weak, heal us. Ok?" asked Celes.

"Sure," Erin replied, eager to finally use her magic. She had never really used it before, but she wouldn't tell them that. She had seen Beatrix use it in the castle to keep her knights going. All she would have to do is figure out how to use it without any weapon at all.
