The Beginning (Part 2)

Selphie assembled herself in the cafeteria, sighing happily as thoughts plagued inside her head. Since Irvine wasn’t present yet, she waited, patiently for him to come. The next Garden Festival was soon to arrive and Selphie still didn’t know what the theme would be this time. Other questions also spiraled through her head, like what was everybody doing? The biggest question was….where was Irvine?

“My lovely flower…” Irvine sighed as he gazed from afar. She was the most beautiful thing in the whole world of women. She was always cheerful and/or finding ways of cheering people up. He watched as she sighed and closed her eyes. This was his move…

He quickly, but quietly tip toed toward her and boldly embraced her. “Howdy Sefie…” He felt her quickly tense not really sure how to react, but then turned in his arms to face him. Her glowing smile radiated her beauty, making Irvine smile, softly back.

“Hello Irvy.”

He grinned inside. I’m the luckiest guy in the whole universe!

“Sefie…I have bad news…”his smile became a frown. “I know I had something planned for you, but it got canceled at the last minute...so I was wonderin’…” he paused and glanced away. “If you had nothing’ to do tonight…I kinda wanted to give you something.” Now his eyes glanced back to her, a charming smile tucked his lips. “Come to my dorm tonight, Selphie…” the passion in his voice made Selphie’s heart stop for a moment or two and it began its beating again. “If you want to that is…I think you’ll like it…” With that he tipped his hat and sauntered off.

She watched him stroll away and turned her body to face the table. He was calling her…she knew this and yet…she wanted to answer him. That’s it! She thought. A thought popped inside her head. The next Garden Festival would be a night theme under the stars, a florescent moon, shining over the love-stricken couples that danced so close.

She sighed, daydreaming. She could see it now. Her and Irvine, dancing to a slow song that puts each person’s fears on hold and only think about the one that was holding them. She could hear the whispers of love in her ear. Selphie I love you…Selphie I’m forever yours...Selphie…Selphie...Selphie!

She looked up to see Rinoa, smiling at her softly. “Daydreaming?”

Selphie jerked her head up to face Rinoa. Blushing, she replied. “Yeah…”

“May I sit?” Selphie nodded and Rinoa assembled herself opposite of her friend. “I always have daydreams…with Squall and me…” she sighed and continued. “I guess I can’t get him off my mind!” she giggled. “Ever since Squall and I have been together it’s been like this.”

“Where is Squall anyway?” Selphie asked with curiosity.

“Oh training…” Rinoa replied, as if it were an everyday thing. “That man never seems to quit! I mean we haven’t been out on a mission for a whole month! Yet he still trains…” she chuckled. “That’s one reason why I love him! He never quits.”

One reason she loved Irvine. He never quit, either. “I see…”

“Sooooo…” Rinoa uttered, as she traced the edge of the table with her finger. “What’s the next Garden Festival going to be like?” Rinoa smirked, as she spoke.

“I was planning on a night under the stars theme…” Selphie replied, excitedly. “What’d ya think?”

Rinoa gasped and grinned. “It’s perfect, Selphie!” she clasped her hands together. “I can’t wait! Do you need any help? I wouldn’t mind helping at all.”

Selphie grinned ear to ear. “Sure you can help! Oh thank you, Rinoa.”

“Maybe Quistis could help…” Rinoa inquired.

“YAY!” Selphie jumped for joy. “Oh thank you, Rinoa!” she continued to grin. “I’ll go ask her now!”

Selphie darted off with a little bounce in her step and headed toward Quistis’ dorm.

Selphie stopped in front of Quistis' dorm and grinned. Hopefully, Quistis would be delighted to help and with the growing members of the Garden Festival Committee everything would go as planned. She took a step forward and knocked, but who opened the door made her gasp.

Seifer…

"Oh...I’m sorry...I-I" she stuttered, uncontrollably. He only wore boxers and his entire muscular chest was visible. He had his shoulders crossed and he was smirking.

"Here to see, Quistis?"

Gaping, Selphie nodded, slowly and out came Quistis, wearing only a baby blue robe. She was blushing, hysterically and moved in front of Seifer.

"Oh hello Selphie!" she began. "Is there anyway I could help you?"

"Well…” she glanced at Seifer and then back to Quistis. “I was wondering…” she reduced to silence, still shocked about the whole Seifer thing.

Seifer sighed, his brow twitched with annoyance. "Will you hurry up…?”

"Seifer!" snapped Quistis. "What is it, Selphie?"

"Would you help Rinoa and I with the Garden Festival? We need someone like you to help organize and-"

"Can't you find someone else?" Seifer interrupted.

Quistis elbowed him and smiled, kindly.” I would be glad to help you.”

"Great!" she grinned, eyes beaming. “Oh thank you Quistis!"

"And Seifer will help too...he can move things around for us…” Quistis added.

Seifer frowned and glanced away.” Whatever..."

"I promise he wont bite, Selphie." Quistis said, with a smile.

"Thank you so much!" She grinned, embarrassed. "Sorry for interrupting anything!" And with that she skipped off.

Everything was going great! Rinoa and Quistis were going to help her! The day was beautiful and-wait...the day…

She halted outside and gazed at the sun, slowly waning. Her heart stopped. Tonight she would be going to Irvine's. She had to go...but...would it be like Quistis and Seifer? She never made love before...and the thought of it made her tremble and blush, but would it be so bad? She pretty much had known Irvy since childhood. Well what he desired, she had to be ready for it...but would she be ready for tonight? She watched as the moon began to gradually rise, as thoughts reeled inside her mind. She took a deep breath, exhaled and began to make her way to Irvine's dorm.

Time for love…

She was there, parked in front of his dorm door. How could she go through with this? It was too much and yet she sought to see him. She nodded, reassuring herself. But before she could knock, the door opened.

His hair was loose and hanging over his shoulders, his chest was bare and all he wore was his pants. His lavishing blue-green eyes gazed upon her. A smile was plastered on his lips. The only thing she could look at was his lips.

"Come in…”

She jumped, startled, but nodded and paced in, unhurriedly. It was a normal SeeD room. She remembered when Rinoa, Seifer and Irvine made it into SeeD. The happiness in their eyes and the grins on their faces made Selphie smile. She glanced around the room to see the dangerous Exeter, gleaming from the moon rays. Irvine's cowboy hat was hanging on top of the tip of Exeter.

"Would you like anything? Maybe a drink or something to eat all I have is-"

She shook her head." No thanks, Irvy."

He nodded and bestowed upon her a charming little smile. He walked into his bedroom and positioned himself Indian style on top of it.

"I wanna show you something Sefie…” He motioned for her to come sit with him. She quickly wandered toward his bed and took a seat next to him.

“When we were at Edea's, I found this under some rubble."

She glanced at him, curiosity feeling her mind. She watched, as he pulled out a plastic rusted ring, it had was a little bit bent and it was so small...only a child could put their finger through it. She was confused; he could see that, so he explained.

"When we were together at the orphanage, we always played together. Everyday we would go out on the beach and sit, watching the waves."

Suddenly, he smiled. "Then one day, as we sat together on the beach, I felt something underneath my hand. I looked to see what it was and it was a golden plastic ring." he stole a glance at her and with a smile, gazed at the little ring in his hand. "I gave it to you and you eagerly put it on...even when I was little I thought: Selphie and I will get married and with this ring it will make it come true!"

"But Irvy-" Selphie quickly stopped, as he turned his gaze toward her. His eyes told her, he wasn't done yet.

"You loved the ring. You had it on everywhere you went. My heart was filled with joy, but as we got older...it got smaller on your finger...so you took it off, but to my heart's joy you made a seashell necklace and connected the ring to it..." he paused and a wave of grief overtook him. "I'm sorry, but I only found the ring…”

Oh my...

"You..."she paused, shocked. "You looked for this ring when I wasn't wearing it...didn't you Irvine?"

He turned to gaze at her and nodded, gradually. He watched her lips transform into a smile and as quick as that, she embraced him, arms around his neck. He tensed, as he felt her tears, slowly descend down his back. He held her tight and patiently waited for her to stop weeping. There was a long silence save for Selphie's sniffling. Every part of him wanted to never let go. To hold her till the world crashed down and it was the end, but he stayed calm and waited.

Finally, she stopped and backed up a bit to gaze into his gorgeous eyes. Her eyes were still teary, but yet so stunning. He placed his hand on her cheek and watched in amazement, as she gave in to the simple touch. Her own hands came up and encompassed his own.

"You care about me..."

Those words striked him like a bullet to the heart. Every other woman he was with he never really cared about. In fact, Selphie was always on his mind...every time he touched or even looked at a woman. He always compared her to them. He never thought he would care for anyone else when Selphie was away from his life, but now she was back.

"I've always cared about you Selphie...everyday and night I think of only you...your eyes...your smile...Selphie...I’ve been in love with you all my life…”

He does care...he DOES care! She gaped, silently. Such words...and he was serious.

Irvine took the opportunity to share a true-love-kiss. She eagerly returned it and that one kiss was held for the longest moments the two hade ever experienced, it was as if time froze, so their love could blossom, but it had to end, as both of them needed air.

Gasping, Selphie gazed into Irvine's beautiful blue-green eyes. This was a fairytale come true. Prince Charming and herself in love. She wanted to touch him...love him...do anything for him. Was this how it felt to love someone? She wanted to cast her hand through his luscious chestnut colored hair and she was about to when he stopped her hand in midair with his own hand. He held her hand and slyly smirked, gazing into her eyes. "Selphie..."

"Irvy?" she blinked in confusion and gasped as he rest her hand on his chest.

Gaping, she moved her hand, slowly down his chest, feeling his smooth stomach. She watched him close his eyes and give a short sigh. She suddenly knew that he had been waiting for this for a long time. She smiled, knowing that she did something right.

Maybe love wasn't so hard! Right? I mean if all I have to do is-

Her thoughts stopped, as he stopped her hand and opened his eyes to give her a fiery passionate gaze. She knew something was coming…

"My turn…”

She tensed and gasped. as his hand was placed under her shirt. She felt him, gradually push her down onto a pillow and he set off to work.
