Promises and Love

This is it…the night you’ve been preparing for since Irvine left…Selphie thought as she gazed at the glowing full moon. Its silver rays bounced off of Selphie making her glow and shimmer in her long silver floor length dress with her hair down and at the ends they curved up, just like normal. She wore a silver necklace and her hazel eyes shimmered with sadness and joy all at the same time. Joy because the Garden Festival was a big hit…yet…sadness because Irvine was not back yet. She bowed her head, closing her eyes and let out a long shaky sigh. He’s not coming…

She surpassed a sniffle and shook her head once again. She had to look happy and peppy for everyone tonight. She had to forget about Irvine…

“Hey Selphie! Great job on the Festival!” Selphie turned and saw someone she did not even know compliment her work and she smiled and let out a “Thank you…”

She turned back to gaze at the moon. The pretty lonely moon…with no one to comfort it except the million tiny balls of light that surrounded it. Yes…it was like she was the moon and the many people in the world the stars. There were so many guys she could choose, but she only wanted one and that one was not here tonight.

If only Irvy could see me now…

“Sefie…”

That voice…she froze and tensed. It sounded so familiar and heavenly like…

“IRVY!” she turned quickly and gasped. Yes! He made it! He would have never broken his promise.

She studied him and saw that he wore a black trench coat much like his tan one, but more fancier with a black vest and nothing under that to show off his abs. She knew that Irvine would never touch a tuxedo, but he would touch his cowboy gear. “You came Irvy…” Tears sprung to Selphie’s hazel eyes. He looked so handsome and so sexy and so many thoughts had come to mind all at the same time!

She is so beautiful…Irvine thought. All dressed in silver…she’s crying…He watched as her silent tears descended down her cheeks and without another moments thought, they embraced each other. It felt like time froze for the two lovers, even for the bit of time that they had been apart, the reunion was pure bliss. “I’d do nothing else, but be beside you, Sefie…” Irvine whispered in her ear and stroked her hair. “I love you, Sefie…”

She smiled and laid her head on his chest. They both rocked to and fro, as if dancing. A slow song began to play and that made them clutch tighter to each other. “I love you too, Irvy…” she sighed and chuckled softly. It was just like her daydream.

“I’m forever yours, Sefie…”

“Oh Irvy.”

He continued to hold her, whispering words of love into her delicate ear. She could feel the power of his love from the tone of voice he was using and his loving embrace that made her feel all tingly inside. This was the beginning of something more than what she expected. It had to be…

“Irvy…” she whispered softly. The next question she was about to ask…well she did not know how she was going to phrase it.

“Hmmm?”

“How would a baby sound?” she asked after a long pause, expecting a growl of protest or something like that.

“Joyous…wait are you telling me your-”

She nodded and played with his ponytail. “You guessed it cowboy! A little cowgirl or cowboy of our own to follow in your footsteps…”

“Or yours…” he replied back and gingerly kissed her neck with his wet lips, making Selphie sigh in pleasure. She could feel him grin and she smiled with him.

“When did you find out?”

“I knew before our last good bye, but…” she paused. “You had so many things on your mind…I-” She felt his hand move to her stomach, gingerly. She sighed, thinking the same thing as him. It would be different now. With a new life in both of their hands…things would definitely change.

He continued to grin, but now with pride. He made something with the woman he loved and it was amazing though he was definitely nervous…yet…he would not act like he was anymore…he couldn’t he would worry Selphie and that was on his ‘never to do list’

“I can’t believe it…”

“Well believe it Irvy!”

“My dream coming true right before my eyes…” Irvine stated to no one in particular, yet with a hushed tone. “All I ever wanted was a family with Selphie…”

“Now you have one!” she grinned, blushing. He had always felt like that? She would have never guessed. Not in a million years…well…not at least before they made love…she always had doubts before that…

Irvine pulled back from the embrace and Selphie frowned. She really wanted the warmth from his warm body, but kept it to herself. He bent down on one knee and took her hand into his own. She gasped as he smiled and took out a little black box that sparkled prettily.

“Sefie…” Irvine began as he flipped open the box with a swift motion and inside was a beautiful diamond ring. “Would you marry me?” Selphie grinned, happily and withdrew her hand from his grip, spinning around. “I do Irvy!” She stopped and pounced on him, making him fall back, gripping her tightly so she wouldn’t fall on the ground. Her lips met with his own for a passionate kiss. She heard some people whistle and she deepened the kiss.

“Get a room you two!” a voice laughed from behind.

Selphie turned and gasped. “Leona!” She quickly jumped off of Irvine and sprinted over to her friend, pulling up her dress so she could run better with. She embraced Leona and grinned with joy. “Are you hurt? Is Squall okay?”

Leona nodded, sadly and grinned, masking her sadness. Her grin became wider at the sight of Irvine, pouting as he stood. “Sorry Kinneas!” she chuckled and winked. “Took your fiancé, didn’t I?”

“I thought you were asleep!” his brow raised and he shook his head. “You were like a used scratching post!”

Leona sighed and shrugged. “Yeah, but I woke up and I cured my wounds. My lovely cousin-in-law gave me this dress to wear, sexy eh? It was too long for her!” Leona pulled back and let go of Selphie as she spun around in her black dress that went down to the floor. It sparkled like her wolf coat and her amber eyes shone with pride. Her shoulder length chestnut hair hung over her shoulders and she winked. “How do I look?”

“Perfect my lovely cousin.”

Leona turned to see a smiling Squall and Rinoa, holding hands.

“Whoa! Squall is smiling call the doctor! He must be sick!” Selphie teased as Squall put on his frown once again.

“Look what you did Selphie!” Irvine laughed and embraced Selphie from behind.

“Well it looks better on you than it did on me!” Rinoa giggled, changing the subject.

“Leona…” Squall began. “I was wondering…if it appealed to you…would you like to stay here at Garden?”

“You mean it?” Squall nodded. “I could become a SeeD?!” Leona grinned, bouncing up and down ecstatically. “Oh yes Squall! Thank you!”

“And one more request…” he began again. “As everyone knows about Selphie and Irvine’s engagement from their little scene…” Rinoa giggled. “We all want you to sing.”

“Sing?” Leona stepped back and froze. “Who said I could sing?”

“I heard you sing to your brother…just please…sing for us? Rinoa and I are getting married too please…do it for us…” Squall pleaded and motioned for her to go up on stage.

Leona sighed and nodded, ambling over toward the stage and climbing up the steps, she grabbed the microphone and put it to her lips.

“Hello everyone…” she began. “Can everyone hear me?”

Everyone let out a “Yeah!” and she continued. “My cousin Squall wanted me to sing tonight as if I could sing!” Everyone chuckled and she shrugged. “How about y’all decide? But before that good news!” she grinned and turned her gaze toward Selphie and Irvine. “Irvine and Selphie have decided to get married!” she smiled and winked. “Have fun you two!”

Everyone roared with laughter as Selphie blushed and Irvine shook his head chuckling.

“Anyway now to stop making fun of them! I’ll make fun of my cousin which is also getting married! Give it up for Squall and Rinoa!” Everyone clapped and whistled. “I have a song that I will dedicate to my brother who passed away…” she let her gaze trail down to the floor of the stage, but looked up again and smiled. “And the happy couples! So here’s a song that I adore called ‘Eyes on Me’”

A piano began to play in the background and she turned to she a piano player behind her, smiling. Leona nodded and smiled turning back to the audience.

The young couples embraced each other and rocked to and fro, never wanting to let go. Leona watched as her cousin and Rinoa whispered to each other and she smiled. They were perfect together. It was to obvious that they were meant for each other. Leona continued to repeat a couple of verses so that the young couples could continue to enjoy their moments.

This was the beginning of a new life…and the unbreakable bond with her new friends and her cousin.
