Chapter 2: Samples and Specimens.

Several hours later, the Lieutenant and General Sephiroth arrived back in Midgar, only to find Hojo there to meet them, with a rather... unusual demand.
"You want me to do... what?"
Hojo adjusted glasses smiling in that way that sent chills through Sephiroth, "It's standard procedure after a Mako Reactor explosion to make sure there was no damage done. We want samples of all bodily fluids, for males that includes sperm." A sample cup was then placed into the General's hands, "You'll find all the survivors will be made to do the same. No need to be embarrassed about it."
"I've already given blood and plasma and CSF draws, what can my sperm tell you that those other bodily fluids can't?"
"Mako exposure can hit a certain area of the body more then another. Fluids will tell us if that's what happened. Now stop stalling." Grumbling to himself, Sephiroth went into the room for this sort of thing...
After about 30 minutes Zack, having finished with his own sample, came over and rapped on the door.
"Hey Seph, need help?" The door opened a crack, enough to get a hand out and to grab the second-in-command, dragging him in.
"Get in here!"

Later, Sephiroth and Zack dropped off the sample to Dr. Hojo, who seemed entirely too happy.
"Excellent, excellent." he waved his hand in a dismissive gesture, however Zack stood his ground.
"Tifa... what's happening with Tifa?" He demanded.
"... " Zack bit his tongue, it figured the 'good' doctor wouldn't know her name
"The girl from Nibelhiem."
"... the reactor survivor."
"YES!"
"She's under special care, for her injuries and exposure." Zack felt himself tense. He knew that fucking tone! And that smug expression. He was right back at the reactor remains, Hojo wanted Tifa for an experiment
"She's not your experiment, hasn't she lost enough you-!" Hojo gave Zack such a look that actually shut his mouth.
"The president has personally placed me in charge of the survivors. When I deem the girl fit and ready I will release her from quarantine, until then you're to do you job and be grateful I don't censure you!" The raven haired Lieutenant growled, but backed off. Sephiroth remained silent, privately pitying the young woman who had been friendly with him, and probably the least obnoxious fan he'd ever met outside of SOLDIER.

Tifa let out a groan, twitching slightly as she felt a hand stroking her thigh. She swatted at it, before slowly opening her eyes to be confronted with black hair in a ponytail, and a pair of glasses....?
She blinked for a moment, trying to understand where she was, what had happened. When the hazy memories clicked back, and she remembered, she bolted upright, forcing the other person to jolt out of the way and made a placating motion with his hand.
"Settle down, settle down." The, what she now identified as, man offered in a silky voice that for some reason sent every hair on her body on end and her skin tingling.
"Where are the others! What happened to my father? Where am I?!" Now the man, wearing a lab coat looked very annoyed and pushed her back down onto the table. The touch of his skin sent her flesh crawling and she wanted to fling the appendage away from her.
"Calm yourself my dear." Hojo stated, "I regret to be the one to tell you this... you, Sephiroth, the MP's and young Lieutenant Fair are the only survivors of the Nibelheim Meltdown." Tifa immediately slumped down in shock.
No. It... it couldn't be!
"... can stay here as long as you need. We'll be watching you for at least the next few months just to be sure..."
... gone. All gone. Her home... her town... her father... Mrs. Tittley... her friends... her life! Gone.
"... won't be so bad. You can have a pleasant life here-" Hojo turned around, then had to fight the urge to roll his eyes. She was sitting with her head tilted down so her bangs were darkening out her eyes, tears silently running down her cheeks.
How annoying. If this little project of his was going to succeed, he'd need her to be at her best, and it HAD to succeed this time. Years had gone into this and the President had made it clear: now or no more. This backwater girl was the best possible candidate. dictated by her age, history of unusual strength told by her villagers, and her survival of the explosion, but that picture had clinched it. That's why he'd ordered a special holding room in the lab to be set up to her specifications. After her role was complete, they'd figure out what to do about her.
"Now now don't be so upset." He said, trying his hat at comfort and just coming off as insincere and patronizing, causing Tifa to flinch away from him, "We'll see to you ."
"I want to go home..." She whispered, not looking at Hojo any more.
"I'm afraid that's impossible. Nibelheim is gone, your family is dead. And because of the exposure you must remain in quarantine for a while to be sure you are not suffering from Mako poisoning." Tifa violently shook her head, trying to lift herself off the table.
"You can't keep me here!"
"Oh, but my dear, this order," Here he flashed a piece of paper at her, but didn't give her the chance to read it, "says that I can hold you until I'm thoroughly satisfied that you are not suffering from Mako sickness or anything else for that matter." A bit of a stare off commenced, before Tifa huffed coldly.
"Fine."
"You want me to do... what?"
