Where You Are
Chapter One : Reminisce
-There are times I swear I know you're here -
"Rikku, aren't you coming? We're about to leave…"
I sat up, wiping the freshly cried tears from my face. I walked out of my room and across the hall, to the bathroom. I turned on the sink and quickly washed my face. I then grabbed a towel, dried off, and went downstairs.
I looked at Yuna, "Sorry, Yuna," then I turned, "Lulu."
"It's alright, Lulu and I have been having quite a conversation," I could hear the sarcasm in her voice "well, we better go or we'll miss the show!"
Yuna smiled kindly, then turned for the door, Lulu following not far behind. She wrapped her thin fingers around the door handle, turned it, and opened the door.
The three of us walked outside, into the cold, dark night. The street lights gave off a warm glow, although they didn't light up the street very much.
"This concert is supposed to be quite good, the newspapers gave very flattering reviews."
Yuna and I were both surprised to hear Lulu speak. It was the first time in about a week. She gave me an evil look, I must've been gawking.
We started walking down our street, the theatre was a good mile from our house.
"What took you so long, Rikku? You know, getting ready, I mean. I saw you a half hour before we left and you looked ready to me."
"Lulu, if you really must know, I was crying!"
I couldn't control myself, I covered my eyes and burst into tears. Lulu patted me on the back and whispered into my ear.
"It's alright. You don't have to explain, I know."
I lifted my hands from my eyes and looked at her in disbelief.
"How do you know?!"
Lulu grinned at me slyly. From the look on her face, I could tell she wasn't going to tell me, so I just kept walking.
"What's going on? Could someone please explain this to me?"
Yuna still didn't know why I was crying, or how Lulu knew. I wish I could tell her.
When I forget about my fears Feeling you my dear Watchin' over me -
"Yuna, I'll tell you about this later…so you can enjoy the concert."
Yuna was puzzled, but we all kept walking. Now the theatre was in sight and we were early.
"Tickets, please," A young man working for the theatre took our tickets and granted us entry. We walked over the velvet carpet, through the huge, wooden doors, and started searching for our seats.
"This place is so nice. Just like…" I stopped myself before letting it slip. Even thinking about that night made me want to cry. Yuna looked at me, confused and Lulu smirked.
"Here they are…our seats." I pointed to a row of velvety chairs, walked down the row, and pointed out each of our seats. We all sat down, anxious for the show to start.
It was my first time in an Opera house, well, frankly, it was my first time seeing or even hearing an opera. The building reminded me of that night…at the ball…
