Chapter One

Just to let you guys know, this story is called Yin and Yang because Vincent is black and dreary a lot, but Aeris is pink and cheerful. Make sense?

Aeris' whole body was blushing red. Vincent smirked and turned around, chuckling. He handed her his cloak from his bag, and she wrapped it around her naked body. She closed her eyes and sighed contently, feeling the warmth of the heavy cloth wrap around her. Vincent peeked around, saw her clothed, and turned around. "Aeris. Are you warm enough?" Aeris nodded, shivering slightly. Vincent smirked again. "I have things to make a fire. You don't need to feel bad. You could have said something sooner." She smiled at him, her green eyes sparkling. "You should have said something about my being naked sooner, Vincent." She laughed, and Vincent felt his heart leap up in his chest. Aeris looked at Vincent curiously while he thought. "Vincent? Vincent, are you all right?" She shook him gently, and he turned to her. "It's nothing. I'm just...just thinking how happy everyone will be to see you . . ." Aeris frowned.

~Flashback~

The Gold Saucer was bustling and full of life. It was Enchantment Night, and all the rides and shows were free for couples. Aeris sat on the balcony of her and Tifa's hotel room, after pushing Tifa out the door to get Cloud on a date with her. She had done Tifa's hair up in a bun and dressed her in a short pink shirt and white blouse. Minutes later, she heard Tifa dragging Cloud by the door, giggling like a little girl. Aeris smiled. She loved Tifa; she was the closest friend she had. Yet feelings about another friend, Cloud, were muddled. Everyone thought she and Cloud were a couple, but in reality, Aeris believed she only had friendly feelings for him, and Cloud, she believed, had feelings for Tifa, his childhood friend. And she knew Tifa loved him more then anything. She wanted their relationship out in the open so Aeris could concentrate on her own inner feelings. She sighed, staring at the stars. The wind blew her hair back in the slight breeze. Wisps of her hair came out of the long braid. A soft knocking at the door snapped her out of her thoughts of the dark and handsome Vincent.
"Coming . . .," She said quietly, walking unwillingly to the door. It was probably Yuffie again, come back to beg again for her materia. She opened the door quietly, only opening it a crack.
"Yuffie, I told you already tonight, I will NOT give you ANY of my materia!" The person behind the door coughed. Aeris opened the door a little more and peeked out. Vincent stood tall, hiding his face behind his hair. Aeris gasped, covering her mouth with surprise.
"Oh, Vincent! I am soooo sorry!! Yuffie-just-has-been-bothering- me- so-much about-materia. . .so I just thought. . .just thought. . ." She trailed off; red seeped up into her cheeks.
"Aeris . . ." Aeris looked up at him tearfully. "Aeris . . .do not worry about it. I merely came to ask . . . to ask if you would like to accompany me to Enchantment Night." Aeris stood in the doorway, dumbfounded. Finally, she stepped aside, smiling, all traces of embarrassment disappeared.
"I'd love to. Just let me change. You can come in and wait, if you like..." She grabbed her worn backpack stuffed with clothing and items and disappeared into the bathroom. Vincent sat on the queen-sized bed, watching Aeris close the bathroom door gently.
<I hope I am doing the right thing . . .Aeris . . .I think I am . . .> Vincent swiftly cut off his thoughts as Aeris opened the door a crack, peeking out.
"Don't laugh, ok?" She stepped out slowly, unsure of herself. Vincent looked in awe at the beautiful woman in front of him. Aeris wore a light blue dress, going down to her ankles. She wore a darker blue over coat to cover her arms, and her hair was down, coming down to behind her knees.

~Present~

"Aeris? Aeris?" Aeris shook her head to clear away the thoughts.
"Yes, Vincent?" Vincent gently let go of Aeris' shoulder. "You were scaring me, spacing out like that . . ." Aeris gently took his hand in hers.
"I'm sorry." Vincent grabbed his hand away. "It is alright. Get some sleep..." He turned away, gazing at the now roaring fire. Aeris was crestfallen. She looked at the back of his head for a moment, raised her hand to touch him, and then let it fall. Vincent seemed to have no feelings for her. Aeris curled up in his cape and fell asleep, tears falling gently down her cold face.

~Flashback~

The Gold Saucer was alive and full of magic. Couples walked hand in hand everywhere, smiling and laughing. The place was lit up with golden lights and colorful banners. Aeris gazed in awe at all the beauty. Vincent looked down at her and smiled. Aeris smiled back and linked her arm through Vincent's. They headed down to the play, weaving their way through the tunnels. They took a seat in the second row, sitting close to each other. Vincent again looked down at Aeris, letting his eyes roam over her beautiful features; her beautiful auburn hair, her flawless pale skin, and her beautiful emerald eyes. . .gazing into his. Startled, he moved back, hitting his arm on the person next to him.
"Hey, watch it pal!" Vincent apologized, then looked back to Aeris, who was giggling. Vincent smiled.
"That's not funny." Aeris smiled at him.
"Then why are you smiling?" Vincent paused.
"Because..." Aeris looked at him expectantly. "Because I love your laugh." Aeris smiled, a smile that stretched from ear to ear. Vincent turned around, trying to hide his red face.
"Vincent...are you...blushing?"
"No. The play is starting." Vincent leaned back in relief as the lights turned out and the stage lit up. Aeris and Vincent watched quietly, gasping when the saw Cloud walk out, shaking his head in despair. Aeris laughed, shaking her head. Vincent also chuckled, watching the young man's facial expression when it was his line. Cloud scratched his head, than went to talk to the wizard.
"You must kiss the one you love!!" Aeris gasped as the Evil Dragon King (EDK) appeared, holding Tifa hostage.
"Oh, help me!!" Tifa screamed in mock fear, struggling against the man in a dragon suit.
"I love you, Princess!" Cloud kissed Tifa on the lips.
"NOOOOOOO!!!!" The evil dragon king vanished off the stage, and Cloud and Tifa, holding hands, danced off. Aeris clapped wildly.
"Vincent, wasn't that fun?" Vincent nodded, still shaking his head in amusement. "Where would you like to go next, Aeris?" She placed a hand on her chin thoughtfully. Then her eyes brightened and she tugged Vincent's arm.
"Let's go on the gondola!!" Vincent nodded as Aeris led him down to the ride.

"Two tickets please." Vincent said to the woman. She handed them over, smiling at Aeris cheerfully.
"Here you are!! Enjoy Enchantment Night." Vincent led Aeris carefully into the hanging gondola, than closed the door quietly. Aeris sat, playing with her hair nervously. Vincent chuckled.
"Aeris, why are so fidgety?" She opened her mouth to speak, then her eyes widened in delight.
"Vincent, look!!" They were over the speed square, where screams from the roller coaster could be heard. Balloon were flying everywhere in the air, and Vincent swiftly grabbed a pink one with his gold claw and handed it to Aeris.
"Pink is your favorite color, right?" Aeris nodded in glee. Again they sat in silence; occasionally sticking their heads together to see the beauty of Gold Saucer. Finally, fireworks erupted overhead. Colors danced over their faces. Aeris looked in awe. After watching for several minutes, Aeris sat back and looked at Vincent.
"Vincent...?"
"Yes, Aeris?" Aeris looked down at her lap.
"Vincent, do you...I mean I know I...Vincent..." She took a deep shaky breath. "Vincent, I like you very much." Vincent nodded.
"Aeris, I know." Aeris gasped.
"But how? I thought everyone thought I liked Cloud!" Vincent shook his head.
"At least, I know Aeris. I...I like you as well..." Aeris smiled.
"Are you going to blush again Vincent?" She teased. Vincent chuckled.
"No. But I think...I think I will do this." He gently took her hand and pulled her next to him. He put a arm carefully around her waist, and Aeris scooted closer, gazing into Vincent's ruby eyes.
"Aeris..." Vincent whispered quietly, moving his face closer and closer to Aeris'. He finally brushed lips with her, and then kissed her on the lips. Aeris kissed back gently, melting into Vincent's arms. Vincent gently ran his hand through her hair, and Aeris pressed her hands against his tough chest. They felt at ease, perfectly safe with each other.
"Ahem..." They both pulled away and looked at the doorway. The woman stood, looking down at her feet. "Terribly sorry to disturb you, but the ride has ended." Aeris blushed.
"Ah...thank you very much..." She grabbed Vincent and bolted for the exit.

Aeris giggled as Vincent led her back to her bedroom. Vincent looked at her, mortified from the previous events.
"Vincent." Aeris' voice brought him back to reality. He looked down at her, and she smiled. "Thank you for a wonderful evening." She threw her arms around him hugging him tightly. "I'll see you tomorrow Aeris." Aeris nodded. "Goodnight Vincent." "Goodnight Aeris." Aeris closed the door quietly, a silly love struck grin still on her face.

~Present~

Aeris bolted upright from the ground, knocking the cloak away. "Oh, Vincent..." She felt tears beginning to form in her eyes as she watched the young man sleep. "I love you..."
