The Accidental Sohma
Chapter 3: Coming Down With the Flu.
-*-
I must have slipped in and out of sleep, my body seemed to be completely drained the fact that I've only eaten once in four days didn't help.
The first time I stirred was when Akito was leaving; his weight left my side and I could feel his cold eyes on my back. He must have been in a rush because he didn't even bother to push me off the bed and tell me to straighten it out. I felt the cover being pulled back onto the bed and thrown over my shoulder. His footsteps disappeared out of my hearing range; I fell back into a deep bleed. He must have been going to school to keep on his beloved Yuki and the girl, Tohru.
The second time I woke was, I found Kisa standing in front of me; she looked slightly pale and covered her mouth as she coughed. I mumbled something incoherent to Kisa and myself. Sitting up and rubbing my eyes, I stared at Kisa; she was still dressed in her nightgown and her eyes were almost closing. The sun hadn't completely risen, so it must have been morning.
“Kisa? Aren't you suppose to be in school? What's wrong, sweetie?” I asked almost in a whisper, slipping out of bed and kneeling in front of her. I placed my hand on her forehead and my other against her cheek; she seemed normal but her coughing was getting a bit stronger. I sat on the floor and placed her on my lap, “Kisa, are you sick?”
Kisa nodded her head and rested her head on my chest.
I sighed silently; standing up slowly I placed Kisa onto my bed, tucked her in and brushed some hair away from her face. “Stay in bed, I'll get Hatori to come check up on you.”
She nodded slightly and pulled the covers up to her chin.

It was cold outside, the sun wasn't that up high and it seemed that no one was up; the kids were all gone and the adults were probably getting things from the market. Probably why Kisa come to the room. I crossed my arms in front of my chest and made my way towards Hatori's office.
The main house was dead silent, not one bird was outside chirping or flying around; it was completely creepy. I quickly made my way towards the door and stopped in front of it, listening for movement inside. I didn't want to make him up, but I didn't really have much choose. I raised my hand about to knock only to have the door slid over just as my hand came down.
Hatori was standing in front of me; I pulled my hand back quickly and looked up at him, a small smile managed to make it's way onto my face. “Good morning, Hatori, forgive me for interrupting you. . .but I think Kisa is coming done with something. Would you please come check up on her?”
I felt like my face was starting to burn, he stayed silent for a moment but seemed to snap out of it when I cleared my throat. “Oh. Sorry, yes. . .where is she right now?”
“In Akito's room.”
He tensed a little bit.
“Akito's not home, he's at school looking after Yuki. . .again.”
He relaxed again and nodded.
In the room, Kisa was sleeping and ending a coughing fit; Hatori kneeled next to her and pulled out his doctor instruments while I stood back and watched.

It would be while until Kisa woke up, I managed to stay in Hatori's office the whole morning while he filtered through paper work and junk. I was sitting by the window when the door slid open and a woman I'd never seem before stepped in, gave Hatori a cup of tea and then left quickly.
I sighed and looked back out the window, it was quiet. So very quiet and boring.
“T O R I - C H A N ! ! !”
We looked at each other and then stared at the door as it opened and in walked in a tall white haired man. He skipped over to Hatori and slithered down next to him; I merely stared at him and noticed he had the Sohma look, so he must be a Sohma animal.
I felt eyes on me, coming out of my thoughts I noticed the new Sohma staring at me with his golden eyes. They sent shivers down my spine and made my body burn under his gaze; Hatori must have noticed my discomfort and cleared his throat.
“Aya,” he started off. “This is Reiko, and don't stare it's not polite.”
“Ah! So you are the pretty girl Hatsuharu and Momiji were talking about,” he eyed me from head to toe. “Hatsuharu wasn't lying about your beauty.”
I felt myself blush, “Oh. Um. Thank you. . .Aya.”
Aya grinned, Hatori shook his head slightly and I felt something caught in my throat. I covered my mouth as I coughed and saw Hatori turn his head towards me. He stood up and walked towards me, placed his hand on my forehead, a frown replaced his calm face.
“You're coming down with a cold, Reiko. Go to bed, I'll ask Kureno to bring Kisa and you something warm to eat.”
I nodded and followed his orders, but not before hearing Aya whisper something to Hatori.
“You think Akito will let me borrow her for a few days?”
