At the Edge of the Lake

CHAPTER 1: Ready to go?

**Oh! This is so wonderful I can't believe it's been almost 2 years since we've been here. It doesn't look like it's changed a bit and all of us have changed so much. Oh Mom, I wish you could see this. All of us are still together at the start of our new lives. I wonder what adventures we'll all have?

I know Yuki and Kyo have been really stressed out lately with all of the exams and the graduation ceremony. I hope this trip will be good for them! I want so much for all of us to have a wonderful time!**

Earlier that same day…

"I'm not going and that's final you stupid little Rat!" Tohru woke up to a very angry Kyo yelling at Yuki out in the hallway. She automatically started for the door and tripped as she lunged out into the hall. Both young men started as she landed right between them and noticed that they had both moved to catch her a moment too late. Two soft *POOFS* later and a very bare legged Tohru was sitting with a now only slightly miffed orange cat and a solemn grey rat

Leaning down, she scooped up Kyo in her arms and in the process didn't notice that her top button had come undone. She'd gotten that night shirt from Hatori one time she was forced to stay at the main house. Tohru never seemed to remember just how small she was compared to him, but both Yuki and Kyo noticed the gaping neckline.

"Please come with us Kyo, it just wouldn't be the same if you weren't there." Tohru continued her plea, "besides, everyone will be there and you worked as hard to graduate as the rest of us! Hana and Uo will be so disappointed and it's so kind of the Sohma's to let all of us use the lake house for an entire week!" After a quick pause, she added, "I really want you to be there."

Kyo couldn't move as he watched a blush creep across Tohru. Pressed against her breasts as he was, there wasn't much fight left in him. "Ok! I'll go. Just as long as I don't have to share a car with that damn Rat on the way or a room with him after we get there." He looked away from Tohru and met the angry glare of Yuki.

*POOF* Yuki turned away from Tohru and Kyo as soon as he changed back and quickly put his clothes back on. "I have some final council work to finish up this morning so I was planning on driving up later this afternoon anyway. Miss. Honda, if you could spare a minute, I was hoping you could let me know what you'd like me to take up in my car. Since I'll be late I can pack more of the extra items that you won't need until later."

Kyo finally wiggled out of Tohru's grasp and stood panting a few paces away. Standing, Tohru smiled easily at Yuki, "Of course I'll help! I… um… I'll just change my clothes and um… I'll be downstairs shortly!" Now fully realizing her state of undress, Tohru's blush had run crimson down her neck and was turning the soft curves of her chest a shade of pink that did not go unnoticed by Yuki. Turning back to her room she quickly ducked inside and shut the door.

"Stupid Cat." Yuki muttered under his breath and turned to go downstairs.

Smiling as only a cat can, Kyo headed back to his room to wait out the change back to his human form. With Yuki at the school until later he needed to find a ride up to the lake house and he also needed a little more time to cool off after his close encounter with a very soft, sweet smelling Tohru.

With her back to the door, Tohru heard the boys go their separate ways and she finally started to calm down. When she'd realized her lack of clothes she'd panicked and ran, but at the same time…. She'd felt something stir inside her. Moving methodically, Tohru turned to her closet and grabbed the first thing at hand. Since she'd packed for the trip the night before, she didn't have much left in the closet to choose from.

Downstairs…

Shigure met Yuki in the hall as he came down the stairs. "So, I hear that our finicky cat will be making the trip with us after all. That's good. It will be more fun with him there!" Yuki could tell his older cousin was about to continue on about all of the wonderful ways he and Ayame could torment Kyo.

"It will NOT be more fun. It will just be more noisy. Why do you still persist in provoking that stupid Cat? It can't still be rewarding, even after all these years." With that said, Yuki headed to the kitchen for a cup of tea while he waited for Tohru.

Leaning on the door frame to the kitchen Shigure sighed, "Now Yuki, what's all this I hear about you going to school today? You just graduated and now you still have more work to do? That's just no fun! You should be living this final summer of your youth to the fullest! It may be the last chance you have." Shigure wasn't about to give up this lecture, propping himself against the counter he continued; "Right now you're free from all obligations and you need to seize the moment! Find a nice girl and have a little vacation romance!"

"Shigure! I think I've heard enough on the topic from you to last through college. Now if you don't mind I want to finish getting ready so I can leave as soon as I finish at the school. Not everyone thinks of finding a new chapter for you to put in your novels all day long!" Putting down the tea he'd barely touched, Yuki started back up to his room to get his bags.

Leaving Shigure plotting alone in the kitchen was very likely not the wisest move. If Yuki had had his mind on the Dog in front of him and not on the legs of the girl upstairs, he might have realized that he'd laid bait that Shigure simply couldn't pass up.

Peaking around the corner, Shigure made sure the three youngsters were all upstairs and raced to the phone and dialed Ayame. "Aya! It's an emergency! Yuki is all but giving up on finding love on this little vacation of ours! We MUST find a way to make sure this trip is a memorable experience for everyone!"

On the other end of the phone line Ayame Sohma began to see an idea or two forming. "You know Shigure that all you have to do is but ask and all of my brilliant creations are yours to exploit as you see fit! Now what did you have in mind as I did have an inkling of an idea that could prove very interesting…"

After a couple of minutes Shigure heard Tohru start down the stairs and he said a hasty goodbye to Aya. He couldn't wait till Aya got to the lake this evening! It was going to be such fun! Shigure hurried back to his study and tried to look at ease. "Tohru? Can you come in here for a minute?"

"I'll be right there!" Tohru answered from the hall. Opening the door she saw utter chaos in the study and Shigure was in the center of it all looking quite pleased. "Ah… Shigure? Did you need some help with this mess?" "No, Tohru. That's not why I called you in here. I just wanted to ask you what I could do to help out this morning!"

"Thank you very much Shigure, but I think everything is just about ready to go. All that I can think of that still needs taking care of is who's riding with whom and who is taking which boxes that are packed. Hatori should be here soon and you were planning on going with him early in the day right?" Tohru had to catch her breath. "Ummm let's see… Kagura was driving up a little later and I think Haru and Kisa were going to ride with her. Uo has a car and Hana is riding with her so I suppose that Kyo could ride with them?... Since Yuki is going to be at school for a while he said he'd take some of the luggage that we won't need right away and Ayame is coming after he closes his shop right?"

As the creative side of his brain began to work overtime a smug Shigure nodded, "That sounds like it's all under control. I should have known that my precious flower would think of everything! But there's one thing you forgot…" Shigure leaned closer into Tohru until he could smell her shampoo, "Just who are you riding there with? You seem to have left yourself out and I can't stand by and let you get forgotten! You must ride to the lake with Ha-san and I. In fact… I insist!"

"Ok! Thank you so much Shigure! I was so worried about everything else that I did forget how I was going to get there!" Blushing nervously at the idea of a long car ride with the two older men Tohru began to fret. "Oh! How silly of me! I need to start packing up the food! Yes, I'll just be in the kitchen if you need anything." Bowing she made a break for the door.

Watching Tohru scurry from the room filled Shigure with such a sense of pleasure that he just grinned from ear to ear.

Back upstairs…

Kyo had long since changed back to his human form but he was still laying on his bed in a patch of sunlight letting the warmth soak into his naked body. He couldn't get the feel and the smell of Tohru out of his mind. He couldn't hear anyone moving about in the house so he knew that none of the other's had arrived yet and he could picture Tohru moving so easily about the kitchen just humming to herself and getting everything ready.

At the mere thought of Tohru his body began to respond. He slowly moved his hand down his chest and felt his muscles twitch and respond to the touch. He could imagine Tohru's small hands touching him and her sweet breath in his ear. As he felt himself growing hard he gave in to the fantasy and let his mind and hand wander further. "Very well, if you'd just show me which ones are yours; I'll go ahead and pack the car." As Tohru helped Yuki with her bags Hatori was just pulling up in front of the house. "Hatori, Good morning!" Tohru chirped as they met on the porch.

"Good morning, Tohru. Are you just about all packed and ready to go?" Hatori's voice still sounded gravelly from sleep and he stopped to stand with her on the porch. "I'm almost ready! I just need to finish packing all the food. Yuki is taking all my bags so I won't have to worry about that!" Just looking at Hatori was bringing on the same strange feeling that she'd felt earlier with Kyo and Yuki.

"Miss Honda?" Yuki had finished packing her bags in with his, "Miss. Honda, I'm ready to leave. Will you let everyone know that I'll be at the lake in time for dinner?" "Sure Yuki! I hope your council work goes well! Be safe!" Tohru turned to wave as Yuki was getting in his car. "I will. Please be sure to do the same. I'll see you tonight. Do take good care of Miss. Honda, Hatori." With that Yuki got in the car and started the engine.

Before he could pull out of the yard, a terrible noise filled the air. Upstairs a loud shaking rumble woke Kyo from his revelry and he jolted out of bed! **It's KAGURA! And she's worked up over something!** Kyo's panic got him dressed and on the stairs with his bag in just a few seconds. As he debated ducking out the back door he remembered telling Tohru that he'd endure this trip like so many before just because it made her smile. Well, he hadn't told her `why', but still…

When Kyo got to the porch about 2 seconds after Shigure joined Tohru and Hatori, he couldn't believe his eyes. A motorcycle had just slid to a stop in front of Yuki's car in a cloud of dust! This was defiantly not Kagura.

As the dust settled Hatori realized that Tohru was clinging to him! Any closer and he'd change in front of whoever this was on the bike! Hatori stepped in front of Tohru as the rider took off her helmet. Uo stared at the congregation on the porch and grinned.

Blond hair tumbled down as the rider removed her hair tie. Even before he could see who it was, Kyo had noticed the familiar curves of a girl he knew well. This was much better that he'd imagined as he ran down the stairs! "Damn Yankee! What the hell do you think you're doing tearing in here like that!!!" Nevertheless profound relief that it was not Kagura flooded his mind. Uo just stood smiling at everyone.

Realizing that staying to witness the soon to be demanded explanation would take awhile, Yuki merely backed up his car, drove around Uo and her damn motorcycle and left for the school. ***What on earth was that all about! I'll have Tohru fill me in when I get to the lake tonight… I can't imagine what could have possessed her?***

Sensing a perfect opportunity to `sneak', Shigure suddenly started waving his hands about, "Ahhh, I've just remembered that I completely forgot to tell Mii about our little trip!" Turning into the house Shigure called over his shoulder, "Ha-san, please fill me in on Miss. Uotani's logic on the way to the lake."

Hatori's eyes narrowed at the retreating dog. "I can't believe poor Mii still puts up with you." Coming back to the most recent near disaster, Hatori inquired, "Miss. Uotani, please explain your new traveling accommodations, Tohru seems to be a bit more shocked than my irresponsible cousin."

Hearing Hatori take control of the situation on the porch was the signal Shigure was waiting for! He rushed into the kitchen and grinned at the mess. No one would ever know he'd been rummaging around in the food. Quickly scanning the contents, Shigure decided that he'd just have to make it a surprise for him too. There was too much fun to be had in sampling a little bit of everything! This way everyone would get to play in he and Aya's little game! Taking a not so little bottle from his Yukata, Shigure added, at random, a bit of its contents to each item he could find that would mask its presence.

Humming a happy little tune as he worked, mischievous little sparkles danced around the giddy dog. When he stepped back to survey his work he noted that the bottle was still 1/2 full! Spotting several packs of chewing gum, Shigure finished up his task. Slipping the bottle back into the folds of his robe, he went to his office to phone Mii and let her know he'd be unavailable for a while.

"Aya will be quite please when I tell him our entire food supply is randomly tainted! This is going to be such a wonderful vacation" Catching himself speaking his thoughts out loud Shigure groaned. *** I'll have to be more careful of what I say! If Ha'ri figures out the plan too soon it will be a complete disaster!***

Back on the Porch

"Oh Tohru, you worry too much!" Uo was still trying to calm a sputtering Tohru down and hadn't been very successful. "I'm going to travel Japan after we visit the lake house, just like your mom used to talk about! The infamous Red Butterfly will once again tear up the roads! Kyoko would be so happy knowing her love of riding was continuing on in me!" Kyo noticed that Uo was flushed from her fast ride and her excitement of the open road. To tell the truth her speech was kinda turning him on again!

Hearing her mother's name brought Tohru back a little bit , but not enough for her to try speaking yet.

"Arisa, I told you that this new bike of yours would worry Tohru." Saki Hanajima's voice came from behind everyone so suddenly, that even the calm and collected Hatori jumped.

"Damn it!" Kyo woke up as if from a very good dream that was interrupted. "Why do you always have to sneak up on people! It's not like we haven't had enough surprises for one morning!"

"I've been standing here for quite some time now. I was noticing that aside from Arisa's disturbing arrival, your aura is different somehow… are you feeling well Kyo?" Saki had recognized a desire growing in Kyo and couldn't stop herself from commenting.

Upon hearing her friend suggest that Kyo might be ill, Tohru was finally brought back to normal. "Kyo! Is there anything I can do? I can put some tea on ? Oh! And Hatori can…" "I'm fine!" Kyo yelled. "I just thought that damn Yankee's bike was Kagura and I panicked! OK?"

Clearing his throat to cover a small laugh at hearing Kyo's excuse Hatori stepped up and asked, "Saki, will you be ahhh… riding with Miss. Uotani to the lake house as planned?" "I will not. I do need to find a different means of transportation." Her reply was not unexpected as no one could picture Saki Hanajima on the back of a motorcycle.

"Oh no! I told Kyo he could ride to the lake with both of you! Kyo, I'm sooo sorry." Hatori sighed as Tohru continued panicking, he gritted his teeth against Kyo and suggested an alternative, "Perhaps Ayame could take Saki and Kyo with him?"

"What! Shit, are you nuts! No way in hell am I ever getting into a car that Ayame is driving! That is the stupidest idea I've ever heard! EVER!!! Hell, I'd rather ride and die with the Yankee…" Kyo stopped his tirade when he realized his solution was just about as bad as the problem… "Shit"

"Awww… Kyo Kyo, so you want to fly with the Red Butterfly do ya! I'll bet you've never even been on a bike before, you're too much of a sissy!" Uo was just warming up and starting to have a little fun.

"WHAT!!! Shut up Yankee. I ain't scared!" Kyo's hair was really starting to stand on end now.

"Saki, I'll go call Aya and see if you may ride with him, it's really not as bad as Kyo thinks. I taught him to drive myself. Tohru, I'll meet you in the kitchen to help pack what we'll be taking in my car" With that Hatori left the noisy teenagers on the porch.

Turning back to her friends Tohru asked, " Kyo… are you sure you don't want to ride with Ayame, I…" "No way am I letting Kyo back out now!" Uo piped in. "I want to hear that idiot cryin for his momma the whole way to the lake!"

"SHUT UP! I'll ride to the lake with you Yankee and I won't be cryin either." Uo pulled the helmet from the back of the bike and tossed it to Kyo who accepted it with a shrug and went into the house.

"Now that it's settled, Arisa, please park that thing and we'll help Tohru finish in the kitchen." Saki guided Tohru inside and Uo hurried after.

As the girls entered the kitchen the 3 men looked up guiltily from the open box of snacks in front of them. The grin that took over Shigure's face made him suddenly 10 years younger. Seeing `that' grin, Hatori figured that the dog was up to something and that was never a good sign. Especially since Aya was going to meet up with them later. Kyo started to protest as Hatori sealed up the snacks and announced that `they'd best hurry along since it was time to leave'.

" Saki, I've arranged to drop you off at Ayame's shop and from there you can help keep him in line so he won't get overly excited and drive off the damn mountain." Hatori motioned Saki out the door as she said her good byes to her friends. Shigure gave her a pack of gum, `for the road' he'd explained. "I'll return shortly. Shigure, please try to help out and make sure everything is ready to go when I get back. I'd told Tohru that I'd help her finish packing so you'll need to fill in for me." Without waiting for the whine he knew was coming, Hatori left.

"Ha'ri is no fun at all!" Shigure carried on as though Hatori's leaving didn't change a thing. However, he did move to help Tohru pack. With some help from Kyo and Uo the job was finished in no time.

"Uo, Kyo…I was wondering something?" Tohru looked at her friends who paused their argument to listen to her, "Do either of you know how to get to the lake house? I mean, it's been a really long time since Kyo was last there and I umm…"

"You Idiot!" Uo started a fresh new argument with Kyo "How did you expect me to find a place I've never been if you don't even remember how to get there?" "Who said I didn't remember. I can find it no problem Yankee just you wait!" Kyo didn't miss a beat with his retort.

"Why don't I draw you a map just incase?" Shigure offered. "That's a wonderful idea, Shigure!" Tohru beamed up at the writer glad that he'd stopped the fight before it escalated. As he smiled down at Tohru a small thought bubble appeared beside the writer…

When Hatori drove up a few minutes later he found Kyo on the roof, Uo leaning against the motorcycle and a subdued Tohru sitting on a cooler. Shigure was nowhere in sight. With a sigh he backed up until he could see Tohru in the rearview mirror. Hatori gaped! He could see well down the front of her dress and the skirt was so short it left nothing for the imagination. ***How could I have not noticed that earlier? Why am I getting so hot all of a sudden just by seeing a bit more of Tohru? Come to think of it I was noticing Saki in the car… this can't be good. Shigure is starting to make his perversion contagious. He'd be ever so pleased if he could see this… I wonder where he's gone off to?***

As he regained his composure, Hatori took a deep breath, smoothed out the awkward bulge that had formed in his slacks and got out of the car. "Ha-san! You're back!" Shigure appeared on the porch waving a sheet of paper and yelling up to Kyo at the same time. "Kyo I've finished the map! You can quit sulking and come take it like a man!"

"I am not sulking you bastard!" Kyo landed gracefully beside Shigure and snatched the map away from him. "This looks like some little kid drew it! You can't expect up to find our way there with this!"

All at once Tohru was at his side and leaning over to look at the map too. ***Damn it! Why doesn't she cover up! I can't NOT look*** Turning his eyes away Kyo tried to remain calm. "I don't know? It's not really too bad. I know that you and Uo will get to the lake in no time! Just in case why don't you take these?" Tohru held up the box of snacks Hatori had put away. "Here take this too." Shigure tossed a pack of gum to the travelers.

"Yeah, uh thanks, Tohru." Shigure grinned as Kyo tucked the snacks and gum into his backpack. "I just hope I'm alive long enough to get hungry"

"I heard that you jack ass! Now get the lead out! I'm leaving so get on the bike and don't you dare lose that map. I don't care how crappy it is!" With that Uo swung a leg over the bike and Kyo bit back a gasp at the view of her ass in those pants.

Kyo bit his lip as he fully realized he wouldn't be able to ride with Uo and both hide his erection from her and not transform at the same time. It would have to be one or the other. This was going to be a long ride. As Kyo moved to straddle Uo on the back of the bike he tried to keep his hands directly between them. Shigure and Hatori were sharing a quiet laugh, quiet on Hatori's part at least, at the cat's growing discomfort and even Tohru noticed that Kyo was moving strangely as Uo leaned forward and gunned the engine.

As the bike roared to life, Kyo leaned his head back and savored the feel of Uo's tight ass pressed up against his member. At the sound of laughter, Kyo turned to the porch and saw that both Hatori (who was still trying to hide his laughter) and Shigure (who had collapsed in a teary fit) had noticed his predicament. Blushing, he grabbed Uo's hips and held on as they sped out the driveway with Tohru smiling and waving good bye! ***At least SHE didn't notice! Oh well, if I do die I'm gonna do it with one hell of a chick***
