A few minutes later, Tohru came outside. She looked relieved but still frightened.
Yuki dashed over to Tohru and looked at her worriedly. “Did he do anything to you Miss Honda? What happened in there,” he bombarded her with questions, very concerned.
She regained her composure and let out a sigh of relief. “He said we could stay together,” she said smiling hopefully, “but, he said he was going to come up with a punishment for Kyo for defying his authority.”
Tohru frowned a little and slumped on the couch. “I hope it isn't anything too bad,” she said wearily.
Meanwhile, in Shigure's study, Akito was giving Kyo his punishment. “You know that Haru has become quite ill and very hard to deal with ever since Rin broke up with him, correct,” Akito questioned, quirking an eyebrow.
“Uh…yeah,” Kyo began, rather confused. “But what does that have to do with Tohru and I,” he continued.
“Nothing,” Akito stated rather simply, “it doesn't have anything to do with you and Tohru. This is about you defying my authority. Now listen, Haru will be staying here at Shigure's house so he can recover. You will be his caretaker. Both of you will be having a tutor because you won't be attending classes during his recovery period.”
“But, I…” Kyo began to protest.
Akito cut him off, however. “Haru and the tutor will arrive tomorrow. Be ready. That'll be all.” With that Akito exited the room and left the house with Hatori. Leaving a very confused and annoyed Kyo in his wake. As he left, Akito smirked inwardly; knowing Kyo would rather be at school with Tohru then at home with Haru.
`Three months of heaven shattered in three minutes,' Kyo thought sadly to himself.
The following day, Kyo savored every last moment with Tohru at school. When school was over he was as depressed as ever.
Tohru knew what was bothering him and tried to cheer him up. “Kyo,” she said, “we'll still have time to be together. We can talk after class and during meal times. Don't worry.” She smiled at him and Kyo couldn't help but smile back.
When the three of them arrived home, Haru greeted them. He was sprawled on the couch watching some anime called Nightwalker. He turned to look at them and simply said hello without showing any hint of emotion whatsoever.
`Damn that cow,' Kyo thought, `if he wasn't so stone-faced I'd be able to tell if he didn't want to do this either and have someone else on my team.'
Kyo decided to forget about reading faces and sat down with Haru to watch Nightwalker. He loved that show.
Tohru smiled, happy to see Kyo in a good mood, and went to fix up some dinner.
Yuki sat down to watch as well and received a look from Haru. He just rolled his eyes and kept watching.
It was soon dinnertime. All the little monsters rushed over to eat. They were very hungry. Kyo enjoyed his meal with Tohru except for the fact that Haru kept making him get up to get stuff for him. He would say it was Kyo's job as his `caretaker', smirk, then laugh is ass off.
`Stupid lazy cow,' Kyo thought, `I'd rather do anything else than be his slave for two whole months.'
Kyo's last day to spend time with Tohru ended.
He woke up the next day wishing he could relive yesterday again and again, even the parts with Haru if it meant he'd be near Tohru. Unfortunately, he couldn't and he had to spend a long while with Haru and…wait, who was the tutor again? He never showed up yesterday like Akito said he should've.
`Hmm…that's strange,' Kyo thought to himself. “Oh well,” he said aloud, “I guess I have the rest of the morning till Haru wakes up to myself.”
“Not so fast young man,” said a stern voice. “It is time to begin your lessons,” the man said, “now go wake up the other young man, we are running late.”
Kyo looked at the man and sighed. He was a very boring looking person. His hair was balding and he was a little plump. There was nothing really interesting about him. Just your regular, run of the mill schoolteacher, except he made house calls.
Kyo trudged up the stairs mumbling obscenities. He went into his room, which he was, unfortunately, sharing with a sick Haru. Waking up Haru was going to be a chore in itself, especially since he was sick.
However, Kyo managed to wake up Haru and get him down the stairs into the kitchen where they would be doing their lessons.
The tutor finally left and Kyo was relieved. “Man, that guy was worse that some of my teachers,” he said to Haru.
“Yeah, it was only our first day with him and already we have homework,” Haru replied, “but I think you're just being lazy Kyo. I'm sick so it's okay if I complain but you have no reason.” He smiled at Kyo and shoved him playfully.
“Lazy,” the cat bristled, “you're the lazy one. Always making me get stuff for you that you can get yourself!” Kyo frowned at Haru, obviously annoyed by the comment.
“Jeez dude, spastic much,” Haru said, “I was only kidding.”
“Yeah well, you shouldn't joke about things you do yourself,” Kyo said angrily.
“Alright, alright, quit having a hissy fit kitty cat,” Haru said smirking.
“What did you just say you damn cow,” Kyo growled and the two began to wrestle playfully.
At that moment Shigure returned from visiting the main house and made some lewd comment about their positions on each other. Which earned him a smack on the head from both teens.
A couple of minutes after they had settled down, Tohru and Yuki returned home. Both smiling and giggling.
Kyo quirked an eyebrow at the two and went to say hello to his girlfriend. “Hey, Tohru. How was school,” he asked.
“It was great except I missed you like crazy,” she gave him a warm smile and kissed his cheek. Kyo blushed.
“Kyo and Tohru sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G,” Shigure began taunting.
“Shut the hell up you stupid dog,” Kyo yelled at him.
After a while they all settled down as Tohru began with dinner. When she was finished they all sat down to eat.
“Did you hear,” Shigure said smirking, “Haru and Kyo were getting it on today before you guys came home. You'd better watch out Tohru.”
A low gurgling sound could be heard from Kyo's end of the table. Kyo was giving Shigure his worst death glare. “Shigure,” he began, “you'd better quit spewing your perverted nonsense or I'll be forced to shove your chopsticks up your ass!”
“Okay, okay,” Shigure whimpered. “I was only kidding. Don't get so excited. Methinks the lady doth protest to much,” Shigure said, smiling wisely.
“What did I tell you,” Kyo snarled.
“I'm shuttin' up,” Shigure replied, “I just think you're making too much of a big deal out of this.”
After dinner Kyo went straight to his room. He needed some alone time.
`Was Shigure right,' he asked himself. `Did I make too big of a deal?' What Shigure had said bothered Kyo. Even though he knew he and Haru were only playing around, Shigure's comment still struck a note. “No, it couldn't possibly be like Shigure says. I love Tohru heart and soul. Besides even if I didn't like Tohru, Haru's a guy. I'd never be interested in a guy.' With that Kyo fell asleep.
In the middle of the night he awoke from a dream. An obviously very good dream considering the state of his…erm…pants.
