Tohru got to her unsteady feet and looked at the very dazed orange cat. Panic gripped her heart as she shook the unconscious cat.
“Kyo! Oh Kami! Are you okay? Talk to me! Maybe I should take him the hospital, or would that be a vet? What if he changed back while they were checking him? Then I'd have to explain everything and I'd have to leave or Hatori would have to erase my memories…”
She looked down at her hands and realized she'd been shaking the poor cat the entire time. She dropped him quickly and started to look around for something to give her a sign he was alright. Tears had begun to mix with the rain as she realized she may have killed one of her closest friends. She knelt and stroked his fur gently and realized he was still breathing. Relieved, she once again lifted the cat into her arms. Carefully she walked her way back toward the house carrying him after retrieving the ruined umbrella. She left her shoes as well as Kyo's next to the door and marched straight up the stairs. She had left dinner cooking on the stove and decided that it would keep while she changed. She hoped to apologize to Kyo over dinner.
As she came to the top of the steps, she paused and looked both directions. Should she take Kyo to his room or to hers? She hadn't been given permission to enter his room and she knew he liked his privacy, but she normally didn't have boys in her room and what would Kyo say when he changed back? After thinking about it for a few more minutes she sighed and decided to bring Kyo with her. She grabbed several large towels from the linen closet and went to her room. After she had towel dried both of them, she would change, get an extra set of clothes from the laundry for Kyo, and check on dinner.
She spread out a large fluffy towel on her bed and laid the sleeping cat on the towel. Next she pulled out a new outfit for herself and laid it over the back of her desk chair. She dropped the wet clothes next to bed meaning to take them to the laundry basket later. After removing her wet clothes, she began to dry herself off. Once she was dressed again and mostly dry, she picked up a third towel and approached the bed. Kyo lay still and appeared to be sleeping. Slowly she began to dry the cat's fur. She was very gentle and desperately wanted to let him sleep, but she was afraid to leave him there soaking wet. As she continued to dry him off little by little he started to make soft noises. At first Tohru had no idea what it was and when she found out it was him, she stopped instantly. Slowly she would start drying him and again the low rumble echoed in the quiet space of her room. Once she realized he wasn't waking up and wasn't hurting him, she used the towel less and less until she was petting him instead of drying him. His fur was so soft and warm beneath her fingers. She had always wanted to pet him in his cat form, but never dared to ask. Kyo was not a touching type of person and hated his other forms. She'd never had the courage to ask to pet him. She needed to go down and check on dinner, but didn't want him to wake while she was gone. What's a girl to do with a sleeping cat that seemed too content to be left alone? Take him with you of course. She picked him up and held him against her chest gently and went down to check on dinner.
Kyo was slowly starting to come around. Little by little he was waking for a slumbering state of contentment. He couldn't quite place his surrounding and it didn't help that he seemed to be moving. His eyes refused to open so he could get his bearings, but being a cat did help sometimes by increasing other senses. He could smell food cooking nearby and assumed he was in the kitchen. The problem is he had no idea how he gotten into the kitchen and was moving around when he couldn't feel the floor beneath him. He also heard the sounds of someone humming a tune very close to him and knew it had to be Tohru. Who else besides Shigure would sing in the kitchen? The next thing he noticed that the warmth he felt was all around him, like someone had wrapped him in a blanket or more likely now that he thought harder he was being held. A hand was scratching him behind his ear and suddenly he forgot that he was supposed to be angry at his holder and leaned into the touch instead.
Tohru smiled, having no idea that the cat was semi-awake. She continued to fix the meal while carrying Kyo close to her chest so his tail and fur weren't singed by the stove. She'd had leek stew cooking for Yuki because he had gotten ill on the way home, but Kyo hated leeks. She sighed as she pulled the pot off the burner and but a new pot of water on to boil. Kyo preferred noodle dishes anyway, so she started to make ramen. She checked the rice steamer and decided that it could be set out at any time. She pulled out the leftover miso soup and fish from yesterday's lunch and set the oven to reheat it. With the dinner cooking and the kitchen in order, Tohru headed for the stairs again to retrieve the laundry left on the floor of her room. As she passed the door to the laundry room, she saw a basket of clean blankets and sheets that she had intended to take to Yuki's room. She sighed and laid Kyo on top of the pile and went up to change the sheets and blankets.
Kyo cracked an eye open at the shift in his position. He had been graced with a particularly clear view right down Tohru's dress and felt a low burning fire deep in his lower belly. As she bent closer, he lifted his head a fraction of an inch and was greeted by the soft swells of her breasts. He felt her shiver at the contact, and felt her stumble on the steps. Grinning like the cat that just ate the canary, he nuzzled the shallow valley of her breasts, poking his head just under the lip of her dress. He felt a shiver again and decided to try something else. Carefully he licked the side of her right breast, just the barest of touches with his rough cat tongue before he pulled his head back and rested it upon the soft blankets. He cracked his eye open again so he could see her face as he moved back. It was slightly flushed and she seemed to be breathing a bit heavily. Servers her right for carrying me around like some damn pet. He thought as he savored her taste. He hadn't planned on wanting more, hell he hadn't really planned on licking her in the first place! At least not in his cat form… now he just had to wait until he was in a better position to do it again, preferable when he had hands instead of paws.
Tohru recovered quickly enough from the ordeal. She hadn't been expecting Kyo to move let alone lick her. He still looked asleep, or maybe he was just reacting to being moved. Shaking her head to dispel the haziness she felt, she made her way into Yuki's room and began to pull off the old bedding. Letting the blankets pool at her feet as she pulled the top covers off she stopped when a very distinctive Poof sounded behind her. Slowly she turned around and was meet with a fiery orange haired man, whose eyes were shining a very bright deep red. A smirk lifted the corner of his mouth and Tohru realized she was staring at Kyo while he had no clothes on. True her eyes had never left his face, but he was still very naked. Tohru felt the heat rush into her cheeks as she spun around and became entangled in the sheets and blankets. Kyo, moving fast as always, caught her being exceptionally careful to keep her from bumping into his chest. That didn't take to long he thought as he slowly lowered her to the bed, one hand resting low on her back and the other buried in her hair. Tohru had never seen Kyo be so tender, nor had she seen this look in his eyes. He looked like a man who hadn't eaten in days and was seeing a very fine feast laid out before him. Tohru felt a shudder flow through her whole body.
“I'm so sorry Kyo! I didn't see-”, her words were cut off when Kyo's mouth dropped those last couple of inches and met with her own. The kiss was gentle and slow. Kyo pulled back just a fraction to trace the outline of her lips with his tongue when suddenly an alarm blasted on the bedside table. Kyo and Tohru jumped and spun to find out what in the world was going on. Quickly Tohru went to the table and shut the alarm off.
“I set Yuki' alarm for when he needed his medication next. I guess he forgot to turn it off when Hatori came to get him.” She quickly explained. Why am I having trouble breathing? It's like I can't get enough air. She turned to find an irate Kyo behind her and quickly said, “Dinner should be ready in a few minutes. I'll finish getting the laundry while you go change.” Kyo, mad as hell and cussing enough to make Uo blush, looked up just in time to see Tohru flee for the doors. Stupid goddamn rat! Even when he's not here he still fucks up my plans. Dammit, that riceball's going to kill me.
