Tohru was busy setting the table and keep a very close eye on the dinner she was about to serve. Kyo had kissed her. She wasn't as naïve as most thought her to be. I mean sure she could be spacey and not get most of the comments Shigure made, but she knew that boys only kissed girls they liked… or even loved. Did Kyo love her? I mean they'd always been friends, even when he was mean to her and yelled at her, he was always trying to be nice to her too. In the end, hadn't he allowed for her to touch him when his other form appeared? It had frightened her terribly and still they were just friends right? Good friends but surely Kyo couldn't actually love her could he? There were so many other girls at school who were smarter and better looking than her, plain old Tohru. No, no, she must be confusing things, not understood correctly… `Oh Mom, what should I do? Could he really love me?' In her head she heard her mother's long ago spoken words, “Just be yourself.” Tohru smiled at the smiling picture of her mother that she always kept with her. Slowly she eased into her role as cook and began to make the finishing touches on the evening meal.

Upstairs a very irate cat stormed about his room. `Shit! That was so stupid! She'll hate me now just like everyone else does. She'll end up in that rat's bed and love him and completely forget about me!' He threw a couple of things around the room and somehow ended up on the roof. For whatever reasons, he always seemed to be at peace here. He almost wished he had never returned to the family or taken Shigure's offer and just stayed in the woods.
He had liked being away from all the people and city. He had to depend on himself and not worry if he was going to piss someone off, and rarely was he pissed off about anything up there in the mountains. No stupid people around, maybe he should just leave again. But could he really live in peace there, all by himself again without seeing Tohru? Probably, but he would definitely go insane. Kami, she had tasted so good to him. The sweetness of her mouth with the simple sharp inhale of breath had pulled him closer to her, made the kiss that much sweeter. She hadn't pushed him away or turned her head away.
Had she really been offended though? She ran out of the room as soon as he wasn't holding her there. She hadn't said so much as a word to him since it happened, of course knowing Tohru she would never say anything to him about it. No matter what she was feeling she would never tell any of them how she really felt. `She's probably down there right now wondering when I'm coming down for dinner with a smile on her face as if nothing had happened.' Maybe he had really screwed this up and he should leave again. After thinking hard for several minutes, he made his decision. He would leave tonight and never return. `Damn riceball…'
