“As Kasumi has clearly discovered...yes, the Okurimono family is cursed.” Sachiko said quietly. “Or at least, that’s what most of the family thinks. I think it could be a blessing in disguise.”

Shigure nodded. “Kasumi, go get Kyou, Yuki, and Tohru, please. They may want to hear this.”

“Yes, Shigure.” Kasumi nodded, turning to go get the others.

“Kokoro, go get Kippei and Hinako...and Kiriko.” Sachiko instructed.

“Okay.” Kokoro nodded and went to find them.

The two adults waited silently until Kasumi and Kokoro returned with Kyou, Yuki, Tohru, Kippei, Hinako, and Kiriko, Hinako’s twin.

“What’s going on?” Kyou asked loudly as he entered the room.

“Shhhh!” Kasumi shushed.

Kyou slightly growled as he looked to Shigure and Sachiko.

The room was almost dead silent. That was, until Sachiko began to laugh.

Everyone looked at her, confused.

“I’m sorry.” Sachiko apologized as she slowly stopped laughing. “It’s just...I know the situation might be serious, but why do we have to be serious about it.” She cleared her throat and smiled at Shigure. “Yeah, we’re cursed. And I’ll give you a clue as to which zodiac. Some of our family members’ names hold clues. For instance, Ariel, Torrence, and the big giveaway, Leo.”

“The Western zodiac!” Kasumi smiled. “Ariel as in Aries, Torrence as in Taurus, and Leo as in...well, Leo!”

“Clever girl.” Sachiko smiled. “That’s correct. The Western zodiac. Kippei here is the Scorpio Scorpion. Kokoro’s the Cancer Crab-...”

“No kidding.” Kippei mumbled.

“Shut up.” Kokoro shoved him.

“Don’t tell me to shut up.” Kippei glared.

“I just-...” Kokoro started.

“Do I have to separate you two?” Sachiko asked.

Kippei and Kokoro glared at each other.

“Anyway,” Sachiko looked back to Shigure. “As you can see, Hinako and Kiriko are the Gemini Heavenly Twins. And I...am the Virgo Virgin.”

“What about the other signs?” Tohru asked curiously.

“I’ll explain about those...after Shigure tells me about his family’s curse.” Sachiko smirked, crossing her arms.

Shigure let out a small sigh. “Fair’s fair, I guess.”

“Ryu would know about that.” Kippei said quietly.

“Hush, Kippei.” Sachiko shushed, waiting anxiously for Shigure’s side of the story.

“The Sohmas are also cursed.” Shigure started. “By the Chinese zodiac. I’m the Dog, Yuki, as you can see, is the Rat. Kasumi’s a Horse, and Kyou’s the...Cat. There are other members of our family that are cursed also.”

“The Cat? I thought there wasn’t a cat in the zodiac.” Kokoro blinked.

“There isn’t.” Shigure said. “Well, not exactly.”

Kokoro looked to Sachiko.

“Kokoro, you studied this when we home schooled you that one year, remember?” Sachiko reminded. “There were many variations of the story. The one where the Rat told the Cat that the party was the day after the actual date and the Cat missed the entire thing, or the one where the Cat made it to the party but during the race, while the Rat and the Cat were riding on the Ox’s back across the river, the Rat pushed the Cat off and all the animals passed him up. And by the time he finally got to the end, it was too late. Either way, the Cat’s always hated the Rat.”

“Oh, you forgot one.” Kasumi said.

“Which one?” Sachiko looked to Kasumi.

“See, the Rat told the police about the Cat’s ‘stash’, they haven’t been on very good terms ever since.” Kasumi smiled innocently.

Everyone just stared at her.

“...What? It makes sense.” Kasumi shrugged.

“U-Um...Sachiko?” Kiriko called quietly.

“What is it, Kiriko?” Sachiko looked to Kiriko.

“I-I think I h-have to go...” She uttered.

“Hina-chan, go with Kiriko.” Sachiko instructed.

“Yes ma’am.” Hinako nodded and followed Kiriko out of the room.

“What was that about?” Kyou asked.
“Kiriko has a way of knowing when it’s time for Hinako to transform back so we know before she actually does.” Kokoro explained.

“Speaking of which...” Kasumi looked to Yuki, whom was still transformed. “Yuki, I think you should go before you transform back in front of us all.”

“I guess you’re right.” Yuki nodded and scurried out of the room quickly.

Yuki and Hinako returned a few moments later.

“I have an idea.” Sachiko said. “How about...tomorrow, we get our families together and we all just have one big cursed party?”

“Party?” Kasumi blinked.

“Well not a ‘party’, per se. More like a little get-together. So we can get to know about each other’s families a little more. And it doesn’t necessarily have to be tomorrow. Maybe this weekend.” Sachiko smiled.

“Yeah, you might wanna alert Aunt Mizuko and all of them before you start making plans again, Aunt Sachiko.” Kippei warned. “Remember what happened when you announced the trip without telling anyone?”

“Yeah, yeah.” Sachiko shrugged. “So whaddya say, Shigure?”

“It doesn’t sound like a bad idea. I’m sure I could get most of them here.” Shigure smiled lightly.

“Alright then. It’s settled. When?” Sachiko began to stand up.

“This weekend should be good.” Shigure nodded.

“This weekend it is.” Sachiko smiled. “We’d better be going. It was nice meeting you. Come on, Kippei, Kokoro, Hinako.”

“Bye.” Kasumi waved.

“Bye, Kasumi.” Sachiko waved back.

“Laters, Kassie.” Kokoro smiled.

“Bye.” Kippei said in a rush.

“Bye bye!” Hinako waved and followed the other three out.

“...So what’re we gonna do?” Kokoro asked as they walked away from the house. “We never thought there could be another family cursed like us.”

“They don’t seem to be a threat of any kind. But in any case, we should tell the others.” Sachiko nodded. “I think it’s interesting though. To find another family cursed like, and yet unlike us. It’s like...it’s good to know we’re not the only ones. That we’re not alone.”

“Wow, Dr. Phyllis. That’s deep.” Kippei cracked.

“Well at least we wasn’t staring at Kasumi the entire time, Kippei.” Kokoro shot back.

“I wasn’t staring!” Kippei defended.

“Oh, right, you were checking her out.” Kokoro laughed.

“No I wasn’t!”

“You so were!”

“Okay, you two. I told you already.” Sachiko hushed the siblings once again.

“Are we gonna have to tell Akito about this?” Kasumi asked.

“I believe so.” Shigure sighed.

“But they won’t have to get their memories erased, right? I mean, they’re cursed too! So...it’s okay...right?” Kasumi lightly bit her lip.

“I don’t know, Kasumi.” Shigure shook his head.

“I think it’s interesting though.” Tohru smiled lightly. “To think, there’s another family cursed by a zodiac. I wonder what the others are like.”

“They’re really nice.” Kasumi said as a small smile formed across her lips. “You’ll see when you meet them.”

“Do they have someone outside the zodiac too?” Tohru asked.

“No. I don’t think so.” Kasumi blinked. “I mean, they might. But I only saw twelve people at their house yesterday and I think those are the twelve zodiac signs. I’m not even sure if there is an outcast. I mean, no one knows the legend behind the Western zodiac.”

“Oh.” Tohru blinked.

“You know, I don’t think they have a ‘God’ either.” Kasumi looked up at the ceiling.

“Well I think the sooner Akito knows, the better.” Shigure stood up. “That way no one gets in trouble for trying to hide it. I’ll be back later.” He headed for the door.

“I wanna go too!” Kasumi stood up. “Please, Shigure. If it wasn’t for me inviting them over to the house, they wouldn’t have found out about the curse.”

“No, Kasumi. You stay here.” Shigure instructed. “Nothing bad is going to happen. I’m just going to inform Akito about the Okurimonos.”

“Okay...” Kasumi frowned lightly.

“Everything will be fine.” Shigure assured with a smile. He turned and walked out.
