“We need Kasumi Sohma in the counselor’s office, please.”
“She’s on her way.”
Kasumi stood up from her desk silently. She walked out of the office and down the hall to the familiar counselor’s office. It had become even more familiar in the last five months. She went inside and closed the door behind her.
“Take a seat, Kasumi.” A woman sitting behind a desk inside the room said kindly. “How are you feeling today?”
Kasumi shrugged, sitting on the couch in front of the desk.
“Kasumi...” She leaned on her desk, holding herself up with her elbows.
“What do you want from me, Satsu?” Kasumi sighed, laying back on the couch.
“I want you to bring up your grades. They’ve dropped dramatically in the past five months.” Satsu sat back, crossing her arms. “You used to be one of the brightest kids at this school. What happened?”
Kasumi shrugged again.
“Kasumi...I’ve known you for how long?” Satsu asked.
“You know how long.” Kasumi said dryly.
“Answer the question, Kasumi.” Satsu instructed.
“Six years, Satsu. Six years.” Kasumi growled.
“And you’ve always come to me whenever you had a problem.” Satsu reminded.
“I know, I know.” Kasumi replied annoyingly.
“So what’s wrong?” Satsu asked. “Ever since you got back from Japan five months ago you’ve been acting different.”
Kasumi shrugged once more.
“No, Kassie. Don’t give me that ‘I don’t know’ shrug. You do know, and you need to tell me.”
“I don’t need to do anything.”
“Kasumi Sohma.”
“What do you know about me, Satsu?”
“What does this have to do with anything?”
“Answer the question.”
“Everything, Kasumi.”
“No you don’t.” Kasumi said. Satsu didn’t know about the curse. “You don’t know what’s wrong with me.”
“I would if you would tell me.” Satsu sighed, beginning to lose her patience.
“Forget it.” Kasumi got up and walked out, slamming the door.
Satsu shook her head and sighed once more. “I’m guessing things didn’t go well with her brother...”

“What’s this?” Shigure looked over the envelopes that came in the mail. One was addressed to him, one to Kyou, one to Yuki, and one to Tohru. “It’s about time we hear from you.” He smiled lightly, opening the envelope addressed to him.
Shigure,
I’m back in California. It’s great. Feels just like home. How are the others? I miss you all so much, you wouldn’t even begin to know. Well I just wrote to see how everything was going. School’s going great too. Just great. I’m working harder than ever. I hope to see you all soon. Hopefully it won’t take seven years again.
Kasumi Sohma
Shigure read the letter once and then back over again. The phone rang and he picked it up, seeming to immediately know who it was. “You got one too?”
“Yup.” Sachiko said on the other end.
“Dear god, she sounds desperate.” Shigure sighed, glancing over the note again.
“Very.” Sachiko sighed.
“I wish there was some way to help her.” He put the letter on his desk.
Sachiko was silent for a moment. “Well, my friend...I believe there is a way.”
“Sachiko, you’re not suggesting...?” Shigure started.
“Oh yes I am, Shigure dear.” Sachiko said.
Shigure could sense the smirk spreading across Sachiko’s face through the phone. A small smile spread across his own. “You take your two and I’ll take my three.”
“You know it.” Sachiko agreed.
“I’ll see you soon then.” Shigure said.
“Bye bye.” Sachiko hung up.
Shigure hung up the phone and looked at the letter. “Well...this should be interesting.”
