Fruits Basket Fan Fiction ❯ Extra ❯ Chapter 3
[ P - Pre-Teen ]
Lila watched them for a long time before she finally dozed off, her long neck bent carefully into the most comfortable position she could think of. When she woke up Lila realized that she hadn't been dreaming and somehow had three in a row...and that she was still in her original form.
As she glanced around and tried to figure out where she was, she realized they hadn't moved her. She was still lying slightly curled up under the blankets in Kyo's room, and, unless she was horribly wrong it was still raining. Lila's next thought was of her injuries. She moved ever so slightly. Yep...they were still there. And they hurt, too. With that came another ealization: she didn't have any clothes on. Well that was just great. Then again nobody probably cared, but she did. Especially considering her...location. Slowly it donned on her that what she was hearing: footsteps. Footsteps getting closer...closer...closer...the door sliding open...she closed her eyes.
"Hey." the voice was easy to recogniz but she refused to show any signs of conciousness; she didn't know why, she just didn't want to. "Hey. Hey. Are you awake? Hey." she'd never heard him speak in such a low tone of voice before. Slowly, carefully a hand reached out and brushed her head. Unfortunately that was where she was bruised particularly bad. Tears came to her eyes and she yowled in pain. Her eyes flew open and she stared at Kyo. Really stared, as if she'd never seen him before in her life, not on paper or in the flesh. He was only a few inches from her face, having leaned down to examine her more closely. Not really sure if a bakemono could speak English, she tried to say "Ow". In came out as
"Yrow." It didn't matter; he seemed to be able to understand her anyway.
"Sorry; I didn't know you hit your head." He paused, straightening up and then sitting own carefully on the floor. "Shishou will be here soon; as soon as we called he said he'd come over." Kyo stared out the window, back at her, out the window again at the rain. "You know...I bet this is the first time you've been in this form." He saw her eyes widen slightly. "Thought so. Look, it would help if you quit moving like a human. It only makes stuff worse. And...I bet you don't know what you look like. I mean, I know you know what your body looks like but you can't see your own face." He paused to stare at her again. "You have silver eyes, first of all. Big ones. and your nose looks like a cat's. Open your mouth. Your teeth are white...your tongue is pink." Saying so much seemed to have embarrassed him. She tried to say "It's alright" but instead she said
"Mai arowl." He laughed.
"So how are you feeling? Better?" she moved her head ever so slightly up and down. "Good."
"Kyo!" Yelled a voice from down the hall. "He's here!"
"Good," the Cat said, glancing at her. "Now we can get you some help."
