FREE KITTENS

One rainy day, on his way back from Kazuma's, Kyo discovers a box labeled " FREE KITTENS." So he takes them home…

AN~ I'm sure there was an inspiration for this, I know there was. I just can't remember it right now… and yes, I know they don't actually live in Osaka, but let's just pretend they do. Aaand pretend that Osaka is much smaller.

 

A Wet Discovery:

 

" Damn this rain." Kyo Sohma mumbled as he wearily sloshed his way along the city streets.

The rain was coming down like huge buckets of grey Gestapo's, hard and relentless. Vision was limited, and the endless wet curtains drowned all sense of smell out. All sensible furry-things, cats included, were holed up somewhere warm and safe.

But not Kyo.

By the time he reached the edge of Osaka, he had lost all feeling in his umbrella-arm. Finally putting it away, not really caring about getting wet anymore, Kyo prepared to begin the trek through the woods to Shigure's house. He folded up his umbrella, kneeling down to stuff it into his backpack.

As he did so, two things happened.

First: A car came by, and when its tires hit a rather deep puddle, soaked Kyo with its bone-chilling spray.

Second: Kyo's ears perked up, for they heard a rather interesting sound.

Mew, mew…

Kyo got up, shouldering his backpack once again. He looked around, certain he had heard voices.

I'm hungry, I'm wet, I'm cold…

" Where are you?" Kyo asked to no one in particular. " Who's there?"

Mew, mew…

Forgetting the rain, the wet, and the warm kotatsu waiting for him back home, Kyo set out in investigation of the child-like voices that he was hearing.

When's mommy gonna come back? I'm still hungry. Hey, stop pushing! Stay on your own side of the box, whydon'cha?

He didn't have to go far, however.

Tucked in an alley, out of the worst of the rain, was an abandoned box labeled " FREE KITTENS."

All four of the kittens stopped mewing and stared up at Kyo.

Ooooo…

" Hey, don't worry, okay little kittens? I'll take you home and feed you."

Where's mommy? What kind of food? He's handsome. Onee-chan, you're such an airhead! Am not! Are so! Am not! Are so! Waaaahhh, Nii-chan's picking on meeee!!!!

" Um, why don't we get the food sorted out first, okay? Hey, you two, no fighting!"

Sowwy…

" Damn right you're sorry. Alright, let's go."

And without further ado, Kyo picked up the box of kittens and ran home as fast as he could.

' I must be crazy, talking to a bunch of ca-…wait…scratch that thought.' Kyo frowned a little, adjusting the box to make the running easier.

" Don't worry, I'll take care you guys."

' I'm going to give you the care… that I never had.'
