Chapter 20: Ding Dong

"Mmm Haru?" Kyo whimpered, "I am covered in Akito's stench. Take the kitty now and fix that." And so it was done. Not like Haru was going to complain.

Ahem, either way, a few days later, while Haru was at work, Kyo set out for Kazuma's to report in about his getting married. Unfortunately for him, Kazuma was working with a class of rather young white belts at the moment, so he had to wait. However, once that was finished, Kazuma ushered him into his house, where tea was made and conversation was had. There was, of course, the typical small talk. `Hello', `How are you?', `What's new in your life?' And it was with this question, that he got a rather interesting answer.

"Uhm, I'm gonna get married." The red head told him from behind his teacup.

"Oh?" Kazuma asked, with a small smirk. "To whom?" Yes! There it was, that look that Kyo had been expecting. He was tempted to say something odd like 'Momiji' but decided he would just suffer the smirking.

"Haru," the cat sighed.

"I told you so." Kazuma responded simply, taking a calm sip of his own tea.

"Nnn," his former charge grumbled. "I knew you would say that."

"Of course, it's a default required response for such situations as these."

"Yeah, yeah." Kyo waved it off with a small smile. "Hopefully, you're the only person I'll have to hear it from."

"Mmm, most likely." He nodded. "So, have you two set a date, yet?"

"Mmm, Haru said once he gets the rings which first requires a paycheck, even though technically, I could probably pay for them now." Kyo twirled a bit of hair around his finger as he explained.

"Do you honestly think he'd let you pay for your own wedding ring?" Kazuma asked him with an amused look.

"No, and you'll note I'm letting him go ahead and pay for them." The feline winked. "I'll just end up paying his share of the rent and food this month, is all."

"Kyo, seriously, just pick the one you like." Haru pleaded, leaning against the counter at the jewelry store, waiting for Kyo to finish sifting through the many, many wedding rings. The cat may have been male, but he was worse than a girl in some aspects.

"I'm going to begin punching people with this thing on. It shall be purrrfect." The cat purred out slowly, and with complete seriousness.

"Do me a favor and don't get blood on the diamond?" Haru requested with an exasperated sigh. "It costs far too much to get them cleaned."

"You ruin my fun, Haru." His lover accused dryly.

"Oh, yes," Haru rolled his eyes. "I'm horrible and boring. Just, humor me on this, okay?"

"Mmm all right, all right." The cat agreed, plucking a fairly simple band with just one small protrusion of stone from the pile. Now all shall feel the marital wrath of Kyo!

"Good boy." Haru praised dryly, moving over and placing a congratulatory kiss on Kyo's cheek.

The cat tugged teasingly on one of Haru's many necklaces. "Yes, I'm sorry I don't go out jewelry shopping enough to be quick at it."

"Nnnghea." Haru stuck his tongue out at Kyo. He didn't care what anyone said--his necklaces were not tacky. "You and Rin are ganging up on me."

"Mmm yes, I believe we both said you're getting a band too." The kitty pointed out with a half smile.

"Oh. Yeah. We did say that, didn't we?" Haru sighed a bit. He wouldn't argue though, first, he didn't want to get on Kyo's bad side, and second, Rin would torture him to no end about it if he couldn't show her one. "Alright." He agreed again, resting his chin on Kyo's shoulder.

His lover pet his hair with a grin and they set about that. "And this, I shall pay for so I don't completely ruin you." He snorted happily. Haru didn't argue to that. Between birthday presents, wedding rings, and all things in between, he didn't really think he could afford his own, even if Kyo hadn't wanted to pay for it. In the end, the two agreed on a simply, traditional gold wedding band. That was it. No arguing. Haru didn't mind if Kyo wanted diamonds, but there would be none on his ring, thank you. With that taken care of, they returned to their humble home. Where the first thing Kyo did was pin the ox to the couch and kiss him senseless. Because well, he's worse than an excited bride.

"So, my lovely fiancé," Haru half teased. "When shall we make our grand escape?"

"Because I don't want to be fired, I'll ask the owner tomorrow when I can get the time off at work." The red head told him with a nuzzle for good measure.

"Mmmkay." He agreed with a grin, placing another kiss on Kyo's lips.

The next day was very, very busy for poor Kyo. When he went to work the other chefs were more than happy to take up his days since he was going to get married. That wasn't the trouble. It was that when he got back, there was a message from Akito waiting for him. So he had to shower quickly and then rush over there as not to be late. Then he had to suffer through Akito's company. The man had wanted to taste some of Kyo's cooking. So that happened. Poor kitty got himself kissed again as he was making a valiant attempt to leave, too. So, when Haru got home from work, Koneko-chan was completely passed out on the couch, tired. So very, very tired. Of course, Haru had to listen to the message--after all, it was on their shared answering machine. It might be for him. But no.

"What. The. Hell!" Black Haru spat angrily once he'd heard it. What the fuck had Akito done now? If Kyo had been awake? He might have answered. But, that just wasn't to be. "Kyo!" Haru called, going back into the living room. "What did he do?" He demanded, crouching down by the couch.

Only a glimmer of those pretty red eyes showed as he was drawn up from sleep. "Hmmm?" he murmured tiredly.

"What did he do?" Haru repeated, still just as forcefully.

"What are you talking about?" The cat wondered, sitting up a little, and wondering what Black was going on about.

"Akito called you over there, what did he do?"

"Oh," The red head yawned. "Nothing. I just had to listen to him talk for a while then cooked him something, then I left."

"So you're okay?" He wanted to make sure. "He didn't touch you?"

"Mmm only a little," Kyo murmured. "But you can't go in there and leave without getting touched.”

Haru was quiet for a moment, before commanding quite simply, "Get up." Kyo sighed and did as he was told. He didn't have the energy to fight with Black about it right now.

"Time for a reclaiming." Black grinned, dragging Kyo into their bedroom.

"Mmm, I'm so impressed you care." The kitty hummed as he was pulled off.

"Don't go making too much of it." He warned, before pinning him to the bed. And the 'reclaiming' commenced.

Kyo had his beloved White back and he was currently slinking away to make dinner when he heard the rather incessant knocking on the door. Sighing, he turned off the burners and went to see whom it was.

"It—how—I--" The cat stared at the morons at his door. "How did you two get my address?"

"We stole it from Haa-san," Shigure replied with a wide grin. "How are things going, Kyo-kun?"

"Ah—I--" The red head blinked helplessly as Ayame latched onto him with a hug.

"Kyonkichi! Really, your articulation is horrible."

"Uhm—Well—Could—you--two go sit and wait--I was--doing something." Kyo told them, sweat dropping slightly. He got the two idiots to sit on the couch before scampering back to get Haru to fucking help him.

"Who was at the door?" Haru asked him lowly, as he hurried to get some clothes on.

"Shigure and Ayame." His lover murmured, keeping his back pressed securely against the door to their room.

"How'd they find out where we live?"

"Shigure said they stole it from Hatori." Kyo's head drooped. He didn't want to deal with Ayame, since he and Akito were the ones who groped the poor kitty the most.

"Crap." He sweat dropped. "Do you think they've handed it out to the rest of the family yet?"

"I hope not. Maybe I better go bribe them with baked goods." The cat suggested jokingly. Though it would work with the dog and snake.

"Ah," Haru pulled his shirt on over his head with a sigh. "You go do that. I can entertain for a while."

"Mmm, okay." Kyo agreed as he headed out to start on making Shigure and Ayame something sweet that would hopefully be sticky and keep their mouths closed. Forever.

"Hi," Haru greeted two thirds of the Mabudachi Trio as he came out of the bedroom--fully clothed, and at least partially groomed. Ayame was snickering helplessly on Shigure's shoulder.

"Shh, shh, Aaya." The dog was smiling a little as he scolded the snake, who really just couldn't stop. "Hello Haa-kun, you're here too?" The older man finally stopped trying to get the snake to hush.

"Oh, don't act so surprised." He rolled his eyes, eyeing Ayame strangely. "What's so funny?" He wanted to know.

"Don't mind him." Shii-chan smiled in an oddly sweet manner. "He was just admiring." he assured the ox vaguely. "We haven't heard much from you or Kyo-kun, so we've come to see how things are."

"Judging by `The Looks', Gure-san they're doing just fine." His silver haired friend piped in quickly from in between his snickers.

"Admiring?" Haru echoed with another odd look. "The looks? What are you two talking about?"

"Gure-gure-san, they're so young! They don't know the tell tale signs of the freshly fucked look yet." The snake laughed and Shigure whapped him playfully on the head.

"Mmm well, yes. What Aaya said," The dog finally agreed with a small smirk. They were lucky Kyo couldn't hear them or they would have been suddenly be struck by death.

"Freshly fucked look?" Haru repeated, sinking down to the floor. This would be useful to know for the future.

"Mmm yes, we saw it on Kyo-kun, first." Shigure explained slowly. "The tussled hair, the, ah, sated aura. And apparently Kyo-kun plays bottom too from how he was moving about." Ayame was laughing again. "Aaya, I will have no sympathy if you asphyxiate."

"Mmm, yes! Yes Gure-san." The man calmed down and finished explaining. "And then of course we found his apparent partner in a similar state."

"Ah—ah--" Haru blushed a bit. "This is good to know..."

"So, where did Kyo-kun pitter off to?" The dog looked around and Ayame was smirking helplessly at how cute his blushing younger cousin was.

"Kitchen." Haru replied vaguely, not sure if he should use the word 'baking' or not.

"Hmm well, the whole point of this mission was to see how you two are doing. But apparently it's just fine." Shigure murmured to himself. He then proceeded to pump Haru for information on the rest of his life.

"Ah, well, there's something pretty big coming up, but no one finds about it until it's over." Haru hinted absently when they got to the pumping of information.

"Mmm, Haru, you mustn't pique our interest like that. Or we'll end up doing some investigating." Ayame sighed tragically.

"Or spying. If we can get him to help, Haa-san is a rather good spy." Shigure snickered. But he promptly shut up when Kyo appeared with warm sticky treat that he secretly hoped the idiots would burn themselves on.

"No spying!" Haru admonished with a small frown. That would be irritating.

"Spying?" Kyo repeated with a sigh, he held the plate high above Shigure and Ayame and issued another warning. "Don't give out our address either."

"Kyonkichi's no fun!" Ayame whined a bit.

"No spying." Haru repeated, with as stern a look as he could muster aimed at Shigure.

The dog waved it off. "Haa-san would never agree."

"That's beside the point."

“Right, right no spying." Shigure was about to say something else when Kyo pressed one of the baked goods into his mouth.

"Thank you. Now, shut up." The cat sighed desperately.

Well, yes, that little adventure was survived, and it was two days later that their next visitor arrived. It was Haru's day off, but Kyo was still at work. They were planning to go do the whole wedding thing the next day. So, it was the ox that ended up answering the door, only to find:

"Ah--Rin?" He blinked out at her. "Hi! Did I give you our address?"

"No, I don't think so." The horse smiled, she had something hidden behind her back.

"Then did you steal it from Tori-nii too?" He sweat dropped at the thought. It seemed that lots of people seemed to be mysteriously acquiring their address. "Uh--I mean, come in." He offered, moving aside to let her in.

"Is no one supposed to know you're here?" The girl looked at him oddly as she entered the house. A bag kept hitting against the back of her legs as she moved.

"We just haven't told anyone, other than Tori-nii." Haru explained, shutting the door behind her. "But, people still seem to know. It's weird, that's all."

"Well, Shigure and Ayame said they'd come to see you. But they wouldn't give me the address. You gave them sugary treats didn't you?" Isuzu accused dryly.

"Kyo did." He confirmed with a small nod, gesturing to the couch to show her to sit down. "What's in the bag?" He wanted to know, sitting down next to her.

"Hmmm?" She looked down at it, then drew it up close to her chest and grinned. "This is a special present for Black."

"Oh?" He raised an eyebrow at her. "He's not in the best mood right now, but I can make him come out, if you want to actually give it to him?"

"Just as long as neither you or Kyo open it I'm happy." The horse assured him. "And I'll know if you do."

"What is it?" He wanted to know, giving her an odd look.

"Now, if I told you. It really would ruin it. For everyone, myself included." Rin snorted.

"But, if we're not allowed to open it." He frowned a little. "I can make him come out if you want to watch or something." He offered with a small shrug.

"Fine, fine." She finally agreed.

"Yeah, just a minute." He murmured, before slumping a bit. When his eyes opened again, there was a smirk on his face.

"Well, well, he wasn't kidding." Black commented smugly. "I really do have company."

"Why, yes." Isuzu smiled. "I got you a present."

"Oh?" He raised an eyebrow at her. "Traditionally, you give the bride and groom gifts before the wedding," He pointed out with an amused look. "Not the groom's split personality."

"White won't do it." The horse murmured. "And even if I managed to convince him to, he wouldn't be good enough to take pictures."

"'Pictures'?" He echoed, raising his eyebrows. "This'll be fun." He commented, taking the bag from her and opening it. And burst out laughing when he saw what was inside. "He--he really will be the one wearing the dress." He snorted helplessly, looking down at the pink, lacy thing. "Cause, there's no way I'm letting White put it on." He assured her, examining it with much amusement.

Rin grinned. "I guarantee you, it's for Kyo." This was fun. "And since sadly, I can't be there to see it, there's a camera in there too."

"I--" He snickered happily. "I'll make him put it on for the honeymoon." He promised, digging in the bag for the camera.

"Heh, thank you." She crooned ruffling his hair a little.

"Mmhmm." He grinned, glancing at the clock. "He should be home before too long, if you want to hang around and actually, I don't know, see him." He added.

"Mmm, I'll have to make nice with the kitty some other time." Isuzu got up carefully. "Since I have a job too, you know." She stuck her tongue out at him playfully.

"Oh, God, they're evil!" He complained, smacking his forehead in exasperation.

"I'm rather fond of my job. I get to cause people pain for money." She chuckled heading for the door.

"So sweet." Haru commented with a smirk as he got up to follow her. The older girl glomped him with a hug quickly before making her graceful exit. She didn't usually hug anyone, but her sweet little ex-boyfriend was getting married!

"Enjoy getting married." She called over her shoulder.

"Hm, thanks." He called after her, before shutting the door, and going to go stash the bag with the dress and camera until it was a more opportune time to give it to Kyo, then letting White back out, where the more innocent half proceeded to wait for Kyo to get home. He couldn't believe that they were getting married the next day.

Haru found himself pounced by his excited bride a short while later. Then the next morning they made their escape into the unknown world of marital bliss. Yes bliss! (Ali's been watching too much Invader Zim)

"We did it." Haru realized, as they stepped back out of the small chapel they'd been in. He could feel the diamond of Kyo's ring against his fingers, as he held his love--husband's hand. "You--you really are mine now." It seemed a little surreal, as he looked over at his red-haired cousin, that less than a year ago, he'd been trying to die over because he was so convinced that he'd never see Kyo again.

"Mmm, dear, your powers of observation truly are astounding." The cat teased him, even though he had a smile and a blush on his face. They were lucky they looked nothing alike, or that chapel would have thrown them out for not only a homosexual, but incestual relationship.

"It just really doesn't feel like it can be real." He explained slowly, squeezing the other's hand a bit more. "I mean how rare is it that someone in OUR family can actually be happy and get what they want?"

"Yes, I see what you mean. But as long as no Akito is involved it's fairly easy." Kyo laughed quietly. Haru just grinned at him and pulled him close, capturing his lips in a lingering, deep, dare I say passionate kiss.

"I--I love you so much." He breathed; running his fingers through Kyo's hair once the kiss broke.

"Nnn," Kitty stuck out the tip of his tongue at the ox. "I love you too." he assured the taller man. "See, that's kind of why we did this to begin with."

"So, where do you want your honeymoon?" He asked curiously.

"Eck, as long as I don't have to worry about any of our relatives finding us, I don't care." The red head promised him.

"Mmm," he pondered that. They were in Tokyo Japan; there were plenty of places to go. However, they didn't have enough money to go off the island, so they ended up in a hotel. No one would find them there. And Kyo was practically super glued to his husband. Occasionally they left the room, though. Sometimes. Maybe. Not really.

They were there a little under a week, before the bill caught up to them and they had to go back home. True to his word to Rin, Black had paid Kyo a visit, and so had the dress and camera. That didn't go over too well, but it DID get done. And, of course, when they got home there was that telltale, flashing, red light on the answering machine. The messages were a little unnerving too. They were ALL from Akito, and there were about nine or so of them.

"Crap." Haru murmured when the final one, promising severe punishment, finished playing. Kyo sidled up to his arm, he'd heard them all too, and by about the 6th one, the bitch was demanding he come as well.

"Am I allowed to be nervous about it this time?" The cat requested, since the previous time Haru had told him to be calm.

"Ah, uh-huh." Haru nodded, he could already feel his heart pounding in his throat. "Well, it sounds like he's going to kill us anyway, do you want to do it now or stall?"

“Do you think I can bribe him with baked goods too?" His husband asked meekly. He wasn't really being serious.

"I don't think that's going to work." He shook his head a little.

"We had better go soon then." Kyo sighed. "Unless you think, when he reaches a certain point of anger, he'll explode." That would be nice…

"There's a less likely chance of actual death the sooner we get there, I think." Haru mused. "If we leave right now, we might be able to skimp by on just severe injury."

"That might be best then." His husband agreed.

This SUCKED, Haru noted unhappily. He and Kyo were in Akito's room, kneeling there, and waiting for the head to actually acknowledge them. Which didn't seem to be anywhere in the near future. Kyo wanted to go cling to his husband, but that just wasn't going to happen. So they sat a little ways apart, just waiting for the angry head to serve out his punishments.

"Five days." Akito spoke softly, so softly Haru had to listen carefully just to head. "You're FIVE days late!" Akito's eyes were wide and sharp as they focused on both of them. "I want an explanation NOW. Where were you that was so important that you couldn't come when I call?"

"Out of town?" The kitty offered carefully. Hoping Akito would stay over there, at that side of the room and not get any closer.

"Just how stupid do you think I am to not be able to tell when you're lying?" Haru winced when he heard that. This SUCKED so, SO much. "And," Akito continued, rising to his feet and walking over to Kyo, grabbing his left wrist to raise his hand to eye level. "I'm not blind either. Where'd you get the ring, CAT?" He spit, obviously displeased. The red head shrunk back a little. He hadn't been lying and now he wished he could about the ring. He just couldn't think of an acceptable lie. But with Akito in such close quarters... he didn't want to tell the truth either. So he tensed his jaw shut, and didn't answer.

"Tell me!" Akito raged, squeezing on Kyo's wrist tighter.

Haru couldn't watch this any longer. "I gave it to him." He spoke up quietly, relaxing when he felt Akito's eyes on him. And when he heard the steps coming toward him? He didn't feel quite so relaxed. He closed his eyes and tensed, waiting to be hit, but the pain never came. A loud thump came, but no pain. "Eh...?" He opened his eyes again and saw. "Oh my God." He blinked, eyes widening. Either Akito had passed out or: "Is he still alive?" He asked, glancing over at Kyo, feeling a BIT panicked.

The cat crawled forward carefully to see. "Haru, maybe you should go get Kureno?" He suggested after several vain attempts to find Akito's pulse.

"Unless you think, when he reaches a certain point of anger, he'll explode."

"Oh, my God!" Haru repeated, shrinking away from his older cousin's corpse. "Yeah, getting Kureno might be good." He agreed, scrambling to his feet to go find the rooster. When Kureno returned he was rather upset. He shooed Kyo and Haru out immediately, saying something about them going to get Hatori so... well... they did.

"Yes?" The dragon murmured absently when they appeared at his door.

"Hatori, I think we killed Akito?" Kyo sweat dropped helplessly. Now that he didn't have to worry about Akito he was holding his husbands hand.

"Hey, don't take the credit." Haru sweat dropped, making a vain attempt at joking. "I'm pretty sure I killed him all on my own..."

"Haru," The cat elbowed him gently. "Neither of us killed him." He sighed, looking back to the dragon. "Akito's dead and Kureno wants you there." Hatori was staring at them like it wasn't anything that Akito was dead but that they were fucking crazies anyways. He got his shoes and his bag. Even though he wasn't sure how useful it would be since Akito was... apparently dead.

A/N: Why did Akito die? Because he got so angry he exploded. Okay… not literally. Maybe his heart exploded or something. But he's more convenient dead.

A/N2: OH EM GEE only to prologue left. Holy shit, how sad…
