Chapter 6 - The Gift
Tohru bit her bottom lip, her fingers twisting nervously over, under and between each other. It was a simple summons, and she had spoken with Akito a number of times before. Why was she so nervous?
The answer was simple, yet could not be spoken out loud.
Hatori's confession came with a bit of surprising information. Perhaps it shouldn't have been much of a surprise. It explained a few things really. But the shock of finding out that Akito was really a woman numbed her. It was something that didn't occur to her, especially the way the others addressed her. Did they know? Hatori had asked that she not tell anyone, including Yuki and Kyo. It hurt her to keep secrets from the boys, but she trusted in Hatori, who had said it was for the best.
'What should I say? How should I address him...I mean HER? Hatori said I shouldn't treat Akito any different, but I'm not sure I can help it. Especially after what she did to him....'
"Whatever you do, you must not let on to Akito that you know," Hatori had said.
"But...she hurt you," Tohru had argued. "As forgiving as I am, I know that...I don't like it."
Hatori smiled in an unusual way for him, making her heart clench, even at the memory. "If she discovers you know before she tells you herself, she'll ask questions and...she will do more than hurt me."
"I don't care if she hurts me," Tohru replied.
"But I do."
"Hatori...san...."
"Tohru?"
"Hmm?"
"Remembering a fond memory?"
Tohru tilted her head sideways. "Why do you ask, Kureno-san?"
Kureno smiled. "Because I heard you whisper Hatori's name." The girl turned a bright shade of red and he had to fight the urge to chuckle. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have asked."
"No. Oh, no. It's okay," Tohru quickly replied, still blushing. "It's just...a fond...embarrassing...memory."
"We all have them."
"Really?"
He nodded. "Hai."
"May I ask...what is...your fond embarrassing memory?"
He didn't even have to think about it before he answered, "A night out with a girl I'd never met before."
"But...isn't that...well...I mean...." Tohru sighed, uncertain how to put her thoughts together. Was he referring to Arisa Uotani, her friend? She knew they had met once. Shaking her head she said with a smile, "Perhaps it is I who should not have asked."
Kureno did chuckle this time. "It's all right. I don't mind."
"Have you seen her again?"
"Her?"
"The girl you went out with."
It was Kureno's turn to sigh. "No."
"Oh." Tohru went back to fussing with her hands and being nervous. They had entered Akito's quarters, her room just down the hall. It was dimly lit and eerily silent. Where had the servants gone...and in the middle of the day...?!
Without asking Tohru if she was ready, Kureno knocked on the door. There was a muffled reply before he slid the door open. Gone were the bright eyes and smile Tohru had seen on her way over. The light had faded to dull brown, his lips pressed into a serious line. Tohru tried to prepare herself for the worst...but she couldn't possibly imagine what the worst could be. It wasn't like her to be pessimistic.
She walked in just behind Kureno, following his lead. Her head was bowed, her eyes glued to the floor beneath her. She saw Kureno begin to sit and stopped. Turning slightly to her left, she sat down beside him. Her eyes lifted slightly just before falling back down to the floor. Her hands were clasped tightly in front of her as her nerves began to skyrocket.
It really was too quiet. Had they entered an empty room?
"Ohayo, Kureno. I trust business this morning will not be too trivial."
"I will be able to handle it promptly," Kureno assured.
"Good." A pause. "Ohayo, Honda-san."
Tohru willed herself to relax, a smile evident in Akito's voice. She looked up then and answered with a smile, "Ohayo, Akito-san."
Akito's smile grew. She had been sitting on her futon, facing them. Leaning forward she asked, "Are you well?"
Tohru nodded. "Hai. And you?"
"Hmm...I seem to be in better spirits today than I have been all week." Taking a deep breath, Akito let it out slowly. "In fact, I feel better today than I have in months."
"That's great."
"Yes, it is." Her smile still in place, she looked at Kureno. "You may leave now, my pet."
"Akito-san...?"
"What? Are you as worried as that silly dog?" He remained silent and Akito continued, "If it'll ease your mind, I have something I want to show to Tohru. I think she will be able to...appreciate it." Her smile faded, her eyes turning cold. "Tell Shigure that I will not let anything happen to her...nothing he wouldn't comprehend later, I assure you."
Kureno didn't look convinced, but he didn't argue. "Hai." Bowing he said his good-byes to both women. He looked once more at Tohru as he stood to leave, then quietly walked out of the room. The door snapped behind him. The noise echoed in the silence.
"Now, Tohru-kun." Akito kneeled in front of Tohru, mirroring her position almost perfectly. With a smile to rival a shark she continued, "I have a secret I want to share with you."
"Are you sure you're okay?"
"I'm fine." A pause. "What?"
"You're going to smoke yourself into an early grave."
"I'm...nervous...all right."
"Not just frustrated?"
"Shigure...."
"You know, I could help you take care of that."
"I'd prefer you didn't."
"Then what shall we do to pass the time, Ha-san? Akito may keep my precious flower indefinitely. I don't want to be bored."
Hatori stubbed out the butt of his fourth cigarette and tossed it into a makeshift ashtray sitting beside him on the porch. It had been half an hour since Shigure appeared on his door step. Out of the blue. It had taken most of that half hour to get enough information out of him to know that Tohru was visiting with Akito. He was as unhappy about it as Shigure looked. Or maybe that should've been the other way around?
"Do you think this is part of her plan," he asked Shigure.
The inu nodded. "A certainty, most definitely." He sighed, tossing his third cigarette into the ashtray. "Something like this was bound to happen sometime, Ha-san."
"Something like what?" The dragon sounded suspicious.
"Akito talking to Tohru."
"Are you sure that's all they're doing?"
Shigure gasped in mock surprise. "Ha-san! Such a dirty mind!"
Hatori sighed, shaking his head. "It's not like you didn't think about it either."
"True."
"So...what do we do?"
"We wait."
"Is that all?"
"Well, we could explore a little more."
"You're libido isn't going to stop with that proposal, is it?"
Shigure grinned from ear to ear. "Nope."
Hatori turned away from his friend, grabbing the ashtray from the floor. Standing he made his way back inside his home. "Then, I'll just wait. Thanks anyway."
Shigure looked wounded, but only for an instant. His smile returned before replacing it with a mock pout. "Ha-san! Mou! Wait for me!"
"Please stop."
"Why do you have your eyes covered Tohru-kun? I'm not doing anything bad."
"Please...I...."
"Are you really such a coward?"
The girl shook her head. "No...it's just--!"
"Then uncover your eyes. Look at me, onegai."
It was the quiet way with which Akito finished her last statement that made Tohru uncovered her eyes. The moment the other woman had gone for the obi of her kimono, Tohru closed her eyes. It was all part of her secret, Akito assured her. The rustle of silk and cotton indicated that she was undressing. Tohru was simply too embarrassed to watch. Even if Akito had been a man, she would've looked away. Secret or no secret.
But now, with her eyes wide open, she had to wonder why she didn't. With a dark pink suffusing her cheeks, she took in the sight of Akito's naked form for the first time. The girl was beautiful in nothing but pale skin! Slender shoulders rounded to long, slim arms. Her breasts were small, rounded, their peaks rosy and firm. Smooth skin covered a flat stomach. Her hips rounded just so. The only thing Tohru couldn't see well were her legs. But she already knew Akito was tall. Tohru's blush deepened, even as feelings of envy and self-doubt began to set in.
Akito smiled. Surprise, mixed with embarrassment. This was more like the response she had been going for. Carefully she moved closer to Tohru, reaching for one of the girl's hands and holding it between both of hers.
"Ne, I think Tohru-kun should show the same courtesy."
Tohru blinked. "Eh?"
"We're both girls, right?"
Tohru blinked again. "H-hai."
"You seem surprised." Akito was smiling.
Tohru sucked in a breath, a little voice in her head reminding her not to say that she'd already known. "Wh-who wouldn't be surprised?"
"Are you going to return my favor, Tohru-kun?"
The girl hesitated a moment too long. Opening her mouth to protest she found her lips covered, her mouth engulfed in a kiss. Her hands were rubbing against bare flesh, her wrists trapped in a vise-like grip. Her fingertips squeezed lightly, feeling something soft and pliable. Akito sighed into the kiss, holding her hands over her breasts.
Doubt mixed with fear and confusion. What was happening? Was she--?! 'Oh gods, I'm feeling her up.' Tohru's heart skipped a beat in her panic. But through her self-induced haze, she realize that Akito was enjoying it, moaning into the kiss, making it deeper, longer. She was enjoying it too, if only a little through her embarrassment. It was an...interesting feeling. Was this right? Her curiosity piqued, she started molding her hands against Akito's breasts without help, careful not to hurt her in any way.
With Tohru's attention elsewhere, Akito's hands moved up her arms, barely touching. They moved over her shoulder, then downward, searching for an opening. They found the first button of her modest blouse. Deftly she undid them. One by one they came apart. The front clasp of her bra came undone next. 'Easy...too easy,' Akito thought, holding back a grin. She was falling into her hands almost as easily as her breasts spilled from her bra as she pealed it from her skin.
Tohru gasped, pulling away from Akito, her hands jerking backward as if she had just touched an open flame. But Akito was quick, following her as she moved back. They were kissing again and Akito's hands were playing with her breasts. Disgust and pleasure rolled through her at the same time. Her own hands sought purchase, finding it on Akito's bare shoulders. Eventually they fell lower, mirroring the other girl's hold on her.
They remained that way, playing with each other, locked in a passionate, desperate kiss. Tohru kept telling herself that this was wrong, images of Hatori floating through her mind, but she could not stop feeling. She became wrapped in sensation, very much the same way she always did during sex, especially as she felt herself being lowered, cool air caressing her bared breasts and stomach.
Akito pulled away and Tohru bit her bottom lip, trying not to cry out as she felt something enter her. What had happened to her skirt, her underwear? She was still wearing them, she noted absently. Apparently Akito's fingers had found another way in, around. They pushed, first one, then two at a time. Her hips bucked upward as they moved deeper, faster. Even without Akito smothering her with kisses, she couldn't breath. What was happening to her? Why was Akito doing this? Was she supposed to be enjoying this?
Smiling, Akito asked, "Do you want to know why I called you here, today?"
'It's not sex?' But Tohru only nodded. Akito's fingers were long, brushing up against a spot Hatori's fingers played over easily. It drove her senses wild.
"I have a plan."
"A...plan?"
"You," Akito said pointedly, planting an open-mouthed kiss to an unmarked spot on her right breast. "You have a very important role in my plan. Do you want to know what it is?"
Tohru nodded, not trusting her voice to speak.
"I have allowed you to stay with us for one reason, and one reason only." Akito slid a third finger inside Tohru's center, taking away her gasp of surprise with a light kiss. "But that reason as changed. I have need of you...now more than ever."
Tohru tried to think over what Akito was saying, but it was difficult with the pressure in her center and the pool of pleasure melting her insides. "Will it...break...the curse?"
Shaking her head, Akito grasped one breast in her hand, molding it curiously. "No. It will not break the curse. But my jyuunishi will appreciate it just as much. My final gift to them."
"A...gift?"
"You."
"Me?"
"Yes." Akito's answer sounded like a hiss in Tohru's ear. She slid her fingers away, causing the girl beneath her to moan. She had been enjoying herself, perhaps a little too much. "You...are my gift to them."
Tohru's eyes opened slowly as she felt Akito pull away. "I..I don't understand."
"Don't worry, you will."
Tohru's body shivered at her response. Raising into a sitting position, she felt the sudden urge to cover herself up. But that quickly went away as curiosity got the better of her. "Akito-san?"
She had retreated to the comfort of her futon. Lying down on her side, she stretched an arm outward. With her still wet fingers she beckoned to her newest pet. "Come here. Lay with me. And I will help you to understand what must be done."
Tohru's mind hesitated, but her body didn't. Without thinking she was moving, straining to reach Akito on her futon.
"I've told you. I have no idea what it was Akito wished to discuss with Miss Honda."
"Then why has she called us?"
"Again, I have no clue."
"I had no idea you were so clueless, Kureno."
The young man sighed. "Akito's wishes are her own. We only obey."
Hatori sighed. It had been almost two hours since Shigure appeared on his doorstep. He'd smoked several packs of cigarettes and still couldn't dissuade his anxiety. His nerves continued to bounce around, causing him to shiver involuntarily, his hands to shake. Perhaps he needed to call in a prescription.
"Relax." Shigure's hand on his shoulder told him to do just that. "I'm sure things are fine. Otherwise, we would've been alerted long before now."
"Not necessarily," Hatori muttered, running a hand through his hair.
"I agree with, Shigure," Kureno said. "One of the servants would have alerted one of us."
"I suppose you're right."
"You sure you don't want another cigarette before we go in there, Ha-san?"
"I'll live, thanks."
"This is it."
All three sucked in a deep breath, preparing for the worst, yet hoping for the best. At least there hadn't been any screaming or yelling on their way there. That had to be a good sign, right?
"Sumimasen, Akito-san," Kureno called as he opened the door.
But what they found....
"Oh by the gods!"
"I've died and gone to heaven."
"Shigure...."
"I don't think I can look."
"Kureno, you're staring."
"G-gomen nasai, Hatori."
...Was something totally indecent.
