Twisted Hearts
Tohru danced in the room where Yuki and Kyo sat eating breakfast. "Tee hee! Good morning everyone!" She said, cheerfully pouring herself a glass of orange juice.
"What the hell are you so happy about?" Kyo scoffed, giving her an annoyed look. Kagura was supposed to be dropping by later in the day to see Kyo, and he was hardly excited about the arrival.
Tohru winked seductively at Yuki and Kyo. "That's my little secret." She cooed and left for school.
Yuki gazed in the direction that Tohru left. "What's up with her?" He asked Shigure, who had just walked in the kitchen.
Shigure glanced at Yuki. Tohru must be keeping it secret from Kyo and Yuki... he thought, I best play along.
"NOTHING! NOTHING AT ALL! How could you even suggest that Tohru-kun was in love?" Shigure idiotically announced. "Er...I mean...just...leaving..."
&nb sp; Shigure hung his head in defeat, as Yuki and Kyo towered over him, intimidating him to the extreme. But he knew that if Tohru was keeping this a secret, then would she forgive him if he let her secret out? No, Shigure thought, I can't let them know.
"Sorry, but my editor is waiting and I must be going..." He trailed in a distracted voice, and trotted out the door, leaving Yuki and Kyo alone in the house.
"I don't...understand..." Yuki pondered. "What is she hiding?"
"Who cares, idiot. It obviously isn't any of our business, or she wouldn't be keeping it a secret," Kyo snapped.
"Shut up, stupid cat!" Yuki ordered, throwing his glass of orange juice in Kyo's face.
"WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT FOR! I'LL KILL YOU!"
& nbsp; "You know...they almost found out your secret...because of me, no less." Shigure told Tohru, taking a drag of his cigarette. "And why aren't you at school yet, anyways?"
Tohru glanced down at the floor. "He told me he wanted to see me today...Where no one could interrupt us. Meaning while school's on. It doesn't matter, just one day missed won't dissapoint mom...I hope.."
They were walking to the main house to see Haa-san and Ayame. At least, Shigure was. Tohru had other ideas.
Tohru opened the door to the house and quietly crept inside, trying not to make any noise.
"Why weren't you at school, Honda-san?" A voice sounded behind her. Yuki-kun.
"I uh...was feeling under the weather...So I went to the main house for a check up...I know Hatori-san's not my doctor or anything, because I'm not really in your family but Shigure said it would be fine so..."
Yuki studied her. "Why were you so happy today, Honda-san?"
Tohru sighed. "Listen...Yuki-kun...I don't think I can tell you...there's the possibility you won't understand, and also that you'll...reject me because of what I'm doing. I'd need...a promise that you won't hate me for what it is."
"Of coarse I won't hate you, nothing could be bad enough to cause anger towards you." Yuki said softly.
"Then we better get Kyo-kun here too."
"Why do I have to be here anyways? What this got to do with me?" Kyo moaned irritatingly.
"Why don't you shut up, cat, and you'll find out," Yuki said calmly.
"Don't tell me what to do, you stupid rat!!" Kyo yelled.
"Stop fighting! I just want to get this over with. The only other person who knows this is Hatori-san and Shigure-san. And...I can't keep hiding it anymore."
"Tohru..." Shigure said cautiously.
"I...I...I'm dating Akito."
The words rang through the room like a constant echo of sirens. Yuki just sat there, waiting for her to finish her sentence. Adding "-san" to his name, even "kun" would work! But the ending never came. How could she possibly be dating Akito-san? It doesn't add up! Akito-san HATES Tohru-kun! How...HOW?
"DAMMIT! What the hell is wrong with you, Tohru!?" Kyo shouted out her angrily. She just sat there staring at the floor. "You're such an IDIOT! If you weren't a girl I'd KILL you!"
Tohru flinched at what Kyo-kun was saying to her.
"Shut up." Yuki muttered. He got up and went towards the doors, to leave the house.
Before he got to open the door, they slid open, revealing the last person he wanted to see at this very moment. There, standing in his kimono, was the infamous...
"Akito-san." Yuki said in a terrified whisper.
"Where on earth do you think you're going, Yuki? I was hoping you'd...stick around and talk with me and Tohru," Akito said with a kind smile on his face, although his eyes told a different story. Akito raised his hand to Yuki's face to touch his cheek lightly. Yuki felt a rising sensation of fear conjuring up inside of him. He didn't want to go back to that room.
"Don't make me...go back there." Yuki said softly, sweat forming on his forhead. "Don't..please..."
"Why, Yuki, what ever are you talking about?" Akito said cheerfully, lowering his palm. "I just wanted to say a nice hello to my family...and Tohru."
Stop saying her name like that, STOP it! Yuki screamed in his head. It was driving him insane just hearing him talk like that about Tohru.
Akito walked passed Yuki and walked up to Tohru. "Hello, princess." He said, extending his hand to her. She flushed and took his hand. He kissed hers and then rose his face to meet her eyes. He leaned forward and kissed her on the cheek.
Kyo ran forward and pushed Akito away from Tohru. He blinked at what he had done and froze, staring at Akito warily.
"Kyo...what do you think you're doing? Are you afraid you've lost Tohru forever? Well, you lost her a long time ago, especially when she saw...your true form." An malicious twinkle spread across Akito's eyes as he spoke those words.
Kyo gasped. He couldn't breathe. He's lost Tohru? Lost her? She promised...she'd said she wanted to be together...to share everything...
He fell to his knees from shock, gasping for breath. Akito merely looked at him, wearing a revolted expression.
"You're disgusting, Kyo. The cat doesn't deserve to be happy. Never ."
Kyo gained his breath and stood up. He gave Tohru a hard look, then ran out of the room. Shigure looked at Akito with a solemn expression.
"Maybe that was going...a bit to far, Akito-san..." Shigure said lightly.
"No...he needed to be put in his place." Akito turned back to Tohru. "I must be going, princess, but do come by the main house sometime. I would love to see you."
"I've lost everything. I can't...bear to live. Akito was right...Happiness...is pain for me. Nothing more."
