Chapter 1 - Getting There
((Note: Well Hi there! This will be my first fanfic submitted to the
site. I've done loads on other sites but this seems pretty
professional. This story was originally written during an English
lesson - unknown to my teacher! >_< So please relax and enjoy.))
I appear at the train station and start to haul my suitcase down the
street. Mind you, it's pretty hard when there's a load of people all
hanging around here. Great - a taxi! Except I hardly know any japanese.
"Um...Sohma Estate?" I whisper in a mousy little voice. The driver babbles
a load of stuff that I can understand little bits of. "Ariga-woah!" I say,
but suddenly we're hurtling around corners. I thought this was Tokyo, not
Osaka! Soon enough, we pull up to that familiar building. "Ah, scary." I
say to myself, sweat-dropping. I hand the driver some yen and lug my
suitcase out quickly as he speeds off. I gulp and turn back to the grand
estate towering before me. I had arranged to meet with Momiji at the
entrance, so luckily I don't have to go too far in.
"Hey there, Guten Tag!" I hear a squeaky voice call from behind the gate.
"Um...Momiji-san?" I say, putting my ear to it...bad move. I fall on my
side when the doors are suddenly flung open. "Kiaaaah!" I scream.
"Oh no, I'm so sorry! Let me help you up." I see a gloved hand reach out
to mine and I am lifted to a beaming face.
"Ur...thanks." I smile nervously. "Oh I havn't inttroduced myself yet.
I'm Miruza Sohma and I live on the other side of Tokyo, I'm a manga-ka"
I feel myself blushing as I bow. Then I relax when I hear his muffled
laughs.
"That's alright. Well, I don't know how much you know about me-" I
start to giggle witout control.
"Sorry, it's just...well I probably know too much!" I laugh, he looks
confused but I smile reassuringly and we start to walk back down the road.
"So you're staying at Shigure-san's house then? You know I wouldn't mind if
you stayed at mine." He says.
"Nah it's alright. Besides, it's the people in that house I've come to meet." I
look up at the sky and think about which room I'll get.
We walk down further roads and shopping streets. I try to read the
flashing signs, but they are only scary kanji to me - not readable or understandable. I
notice Kana talking with a bunch of friends. "You know her?" Momiji asks.
"Yeah, that's Hatori's ex-girlfriend right? Kana Sohma." He stares at me as if I
have just revealed a horrible secret.
"Y-y-you know Kana?!" he squeals. I put a hand on his shoulder and lower my voice.
"I know an awful lot about the Sohmas for someone 'outside'."
((Note: Okay so it's a short first chapter, but I thought this is a good place to leave it.
To clear a few things up: the main characte is indeed myself. I don't know why I chose
to do myself but maybe it's because it's a character that I know best. For the sake of
making wirting this easier, we are saying that the Sohmas speak english to me, strangers
don't. Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I hope to carry on if I get some decent
reports and reviews.))
