Hatori's POV

I glanced out the window at the people passing by, trying to ignore the two other people with me. I had been dragged to this restaurant by Shigure and Ayame. They didn't tell me why. I sighed and started to turn back to them when I saw her walk by the window. She was talking to a friend of hers and carring a young child in her arms. The child looked about three years old or so. 'So you're a mother now, Kana' I thought to myself. 'I just know you're a good one. I only wish it were my child you were holding.' I shook my head at that last thought.

"Oh so you don't agree with me Tori-san?" Ayame's spoke up so suddenly that nearly jumped. I had almost forgotten that Ayame and Shigure were still there.

I glanced back out the window. She was gone. I turned back to my friends. "Gomen, I wasn't paying attention. What were you two babbling on about?"

"Nevermind, Haa-san." Shigure said waving his hand. "It wasn't important. Are we ready to go?"

I didn't answer. My mind was still on Kana.

"Tori-san? Are you ok?" The snake asked me. "Gomen, my friend, I know you saw her walk by. That wasn't the purpose of us getting together so suddenly. I didn't even know."

"What are you talking about?" The dog asked confused. "Saw who?"

Ayame and I both ignored him. "I know, Ayame. It was just coincidental." I said, getting to my feet.

"What was coincidental? Aaya? Haa-san? What are you talking about? Come on, tell me." Shigure asked. He was the only one of us still sitting in his seat.

I sighed. "You're not going to shut up until someone tells you, are you, Shigure?"

He thought for a moment. "Mmm, Nope. Come on, you know I don't like being kept in the dark about things like this!"

I could feel Ayame watching me. "I just saw Kana walk by." I said quietly. "She's become a mother."

Shigure stood up and looked at me knowingly. "You're still in love with her aren't you?"

"Anyways, was there any other reason you two dragged me off of the Estate? If not, I need to go back and give Akito his check-up." I said hoping to change the subject.

The snake and the dog looked at each other than at me. "I can't think of any other reason." The inu said. "What about you, Aaya?"

"Nope. Come on Tori-san, we'll walk you home." Aaya said as he paid the bill and left a tip.

"No thank you, Ayame. I can walk home by myself." I said. "I have one more thing to take care of while I'm in town and I know you two are going to be bored." It was a lie. I had nothing else to do I was just hoping to get rid of them.

Without waiting for them to answer, I quickly left the restaraunt. I really had no destination in mind. Shigure and Ayame are good friends and they try to understand what I've been through but this is a kind of pain I hope they'll never experince. I remember how they came by almost every day after Kana left. I didn't want to talk to them about it then and I don't want to talk to them about it now.

I looked at where I had ended up. At the park. I saw Kana's friend sitting on a bench on the other end of the park and there next to her was Kana, wiping dirt of the child's hands.

I walked around the park to some picnic tables not far from where Kana was. I wasn't trying to spy on her, I just wanted to see her again. I also couldn't help overhear what she and her friend were talking about.

"...The divorce isn't final yet?" her friend asked.

"Nope, not until tomorrow." Kana said with a smile on her face as her child ran back to the playground with his stuffed bear.

"You seem happy about the divorce, Kana. I thought you were in love with Yoshi." Her friend said.

"Yoshi never really loved me, and I never really loved him. I really don't know why we married. I was only looking for someone to be a father for Touji, but then again, Yoshi doesn't love Touji."

"It's such a shame. You and Yoshi have been married about a year, right?" her friend commented.

"Almost. Anyways, I can't stop thinking about someone else." Kana said, looking at the sky.

"Ohh? A new lover perhaps?" her friend squealed.

"No, not a new lover, more like an old one." she turned her attention back to her friend.

"Oh? Who?" Her friend asked.

"Touji's real father...Sohma Hatori."

I stared at Kana. I couldn't belive my ears.

"If you loved him so much, what happened?" her friend was asking.

"I'm not sure, really." Kana replied.

Her friend glanced at her watch. "Hey I have to go. I'll see you tomorrow." she said, giving Kana a quick hug.

"Ja ne, Yume!" she called after her friend as she ran off. I waited a little while before walking over to Kana.

"Hello, Kana." I said.

"Hatori?"
