The Return Chapter 2

"Hello, Kana." I said

"Hatori?"

I sat down on the bench. "Its been awhile. Hasn't it?"

"Its been over two years since you erased my memory, Hatori." she replied calmly, her gaze swept over the playground.

I was shocked! "How...?" My attempt at forming words was not successful.

Luckily for me, Kana seemed to know what I was trying to say. "I don't know how I remebered everything, but I just do."

"Oka-saaan!" The boy came running up to Kana and wrapped his arms around her. "Oka-san, can I have a cookie now?"

Kana reached into her bag and pulled out a cookie and handed it to the child, who then ran back to the playground.

"That's my son, Touji. Well, actually, he's also your son." she said, watching me for a bit then turned to the playground. "I think it may be the fact that I was pregnant with him when my memories were erased that I was able to regain my memories."

"Kana, I'm sorry, but I overheard some of what you were telling your friend." I said, looking off towards a cluster of trees. "I'm not sure if I intentionally eavesdropped on your conversation or not."

I expected her to be angry, instead she laughed. "Well, I guess that makes it easier to tell you everything." She reached over and grabbed my hand in hers. "How much did you hear?"

"I heard you say you were getting a divorce." I said, squeezing her hand gently. "I also heard you say that you still love me. To be honest with you, Kana, it shocked me to hear you say that."

"Why?"

"Because I was the one who erased your memories. I could never forgive myself for what I did to you." I said "Kana, I--" She silenced me with a kiss.

"Do you still love me, Hatori?" She asked me directly.

"I do still love you so much, Kana." I placed my hand on her cheek. "I've never been able to stop loving you, Kana. I still want you in my life."

She was about to hug me when she stopped short and laughed. "I almost forgot about the Curse. Since I can't hug you, I'll kiss you instead." She said as she kissed me. It felt like a dream to feel her kissing me again. A dream I didn't want to end.

Kana pulled back and smiled."Do you have somewhere you need to be right now?"

"Actually, I do, but it shouldn't take long." I said, kissing her cheek.

"Hatori? Before you go, would you like to meet your son, Touji?" Kana asked.

I smiled. "Of course."

She called for Touji to come over. When he got to us, he hugged Kana tightly.

"Touji, I'd like you to meet your daddy. Hatori, this is your son, Touji."

I grinned at the young boy and he stared at me for a bit then hugged me. After the boy pulled away, he sat between me and Kana.

"He doesn't talk much." Kana said. "Anyways, why don't you come to visit us after your done doing what you need to do?" She took a scrap of paper from her bag and wrote something on it then handed it to me. "This is where I live and my phone number. Don't worry about Yoshi; we don't live together anymore."

"Alright, I'll be there." I said, taking the paper from her.

Kana grabbed her bag in one hand and Touji's hand in the other. "We should get home." she said. "We'll see you later, Hatori."

I watched as they started to leave the park before leaving to head toward the Sohma Estate. I stopped when I came to a bunch of trees. "Shigure? Ayame? Come on out of there"

"We could never hide from you, now could we?" Ayame said has he and the dog came out of hiding.

"We just wanted to make sure you were ok, Haa-san." Shigure said.

I sighed then smiled. "I'm fine, you two. If you want to come to the Estate with me, I'll explain everything on the way."

"Alright." They said together.

"We know that you and Kana are back together, even though we couldn't hear what was being said." Shigure said as we continued toward the Estate, taking a short-cut Momiji had shown me recently.

"Kana and I are back together. Somehow she's regained her memories." I started.

"Any ideas on how she got her memories back?" Ayame asked.

"Well, Kana has one, but I'm not sure." I said.

"What's her idea?" The snake ran ahead of us a bit and turned around and walked backwards. "Come on, Tori-san." He pressed before he crashed into a tree. "Owww! Now why didn't you two tell me there was a tree behind me?" he whined.

"Like we could see around you?" Shigure said, howling with laughter.

"Are you calling me fat?" Ayame countered.

"Anyways you two!" I said over them. "Kana's idea on how she got her memory back is that she was pregnant with my child when her memories were erased. That boy you probably saw with us, is my son, Touji."

The dog and the snake looked at me dumbfoundedly. "You're a father?" Ayame was the first to recover is voice.

I just nodded.
