The Return Chapter 4
Disclaimer: See Chapter 1
The smell of eggs cooking pulled me out of my sleep. I yawned and sat up. I looked around. 'This isn't my room.' I thought as my gaze laned on my clothes, folded neatly on the nightstand. Last nights events quickly flooded my mind. I glanced over at the bed side clock. 7:30 am. The time I usually get up. I quickly got dressed and headed out to the kitchen.
Kana was making breakfast and Touji was playing with his firetruck in the middle of the floor. He was still wearing his pajamas. He looked up at me and smiled. "G'morning, Daddy!"
My heart practically melted. I smiled back at him. "Good morning, Son."
I walked into the kitchen and put my hands on Kana's hips and kissed her neck. "Good morning, Love." I greeted her as I kissed her cheek.
She turned around and kissed me on the mouth. "Good morning, Sweetie. I thought you'd be gone by midnight."
"Yeah, I thought so too." I said, stealing a kiss. She turned around and continued working on breakfast.
"Could you set the table and get Touji?" She asked, turning off the stove. She pointed to a cupboard not far from the stove. "Plates are in there." She then pointed to a drawer underneath the cupboard. "Utensils are there."
"Sure." I said. pulling the dishes out of their respective places and set them on the table; then went in search of my young son.
I found him in the same place he was earlier. "Touji?" I squatted next to him. "Breakfast is ready. Let's go eat."
"Can I bring my firetruck?" he asked, holding it tightly to his chest.
"I guess that'd be alright." I said, standing up. I picked him up and carried him to the table and sat him in a seat.
"I should get going," I announced after breakfast. I stayed long enough to help Kana wash the dishes.
Kana nodded and walked with me to the front door. I gave Touji a hug and Kana a kiss. I got in my car and drove back to the Estate.
I slid the door open and kicked off my shoes and headed to my desk. I sat down and grabbed the picture of Kana.
"Where were you, Hatori?" A cold voice suddenly spoke up from behind me.
I spun around and was face to face with Akito. "Akito! I didn't see you." I said, quickly putting the picture away.
"Obviously." he said with a half smile. "Answer my question. Where were you, Hatori? I came here late last night in search of you, and couldn't find you. I called Shigure and Ayame and they said they didn't know where you were."
"Why were you looking for me?" I asked, hoping I could get away with out telling him I was at Kana's. "You had your check up yesterday afternoon, before I left."
"Yes, I know that." He said with a chuckle. "You seemed like you were in a hurry to get done. Momiji was looking for you. He said something about Yuki having an attack last night. Now, tell me, where were you last night?"
"I was just out." I said, hoping that would be enough for him.
"Lair. Tell me the truth." His voice was still calm as he sat on the corner of my desk. He picked up the picture. "I know. You were with this woman. You spent the night with her, didn't you?"
"Why would I be with her? She doesn't remember me." I hoped it sounded truthful enough for Akito.
"LAIR!! I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT YOU WERE WITH THAT...OUTSIDER!!!" He yelled as he threw the picture to the floor, causing the glass to break. He grabbed me by the shirt and pulled me up. He may be close to death but he's stronger than he looks. "YOU WERE WITH HER! ADMIT IT!!"
"Put him down, Akito." A voice spoke from the doorway. I didn't even have to look to see who the voice was coming from.
"GO AWAY, MOMIJI!" Akito snapped.
"Not until you leave Hatori alone." he said, walking closer. I could see Hastuharu behind him. "I'll leave when you do."
Akito let go of my shirt so suddenly that I fell to my knees. I saw Akito head for the rabbit.
"You don't tell me what to do! I'm the head of this family." Akito yelled as he started hitting Momiji.
I ran to my medical bag and filled a syringe and ran to Akito. "Hastuharu, hold him down for me!" I yelled to the ox.
"LET GO OF ME!!" Akito screeched as Hatsuharu grabbed his arms and pulled him down to the floor. I quickly injected the syringe into Akito's arm and stepped back.
"Hold on to him for just a bit longer." I ordered Haru as I threw out the syringe. When I got back I grabbed Momiji and pulled him away from Akito. I knew Hatsuharu could manage Akito. "Stay here. I'll take a look at you in a minute." I told the frightened bunny. He nodded.
I went back over to Akito and Hatsuharu. Hatsuharu had let go of Akito, but Akito didn't do anything except fall on the floor.
"I didn't do anything." Hatsuharu said as I knelt beside Akito.
"I know you didn't, Hatsuharu. The injection I gave him was just a mild sedative. He's asleep. Could you get one of the servants to get him back to his room in the Main House? And then come back; I'm going to need your help." He nodded and left quickly.
I walked back over to Momiji and began to take care of the injuries he got from Akito.
"Ha'ri?" Momiji asked as I placed a bandaid over a cut he had gotten from Akito. When I looked at him, he blushed slightly. "Ummm, nevermind. I shouldn't ask." He said quickly.
"Ask what?" I asked as I began to pack up my things.
He started to shake his head, then sighed. "I just wanted to know if Akito was right, about you being at Kana's last night."
I glanced at where Akito was being carried out of my house. I waited until the door was slid shut before turning back to the rabbit. "Its true. I was at Kana's."
