The Return Chapter 6

Disclaimer: See chapter 1

A/N: I know the last chapter wasn't the greatest and I'm sorry. I kinda wrote it in a hurry. Please forgive me!!!! This will be the last chapter in this story. I'm thinking about writing a sequel to this but I don't know.

~~~~~~~~~
Three years later..........
I watched as Kana lay sleeping, she looked so at peace. I was glad she was asleep. The day had been quite eventful.
Earlier today, she had given birth to our second child, a girl. She looked just like Kana. We named her Emiko. Touji was happy about his new sibling.
Two years ago, Kana and I finally married. Needless to say, Akito was angry, but after awhile, he got over it.
A week after Kana and I married, Shigure married his editor, Mii. Ayame's been dating Mine for a year and a half. He told me yesterday that he's going to ask her to marry him.
Yuki and the others are in college now. He and Tohru are planning on going to study in America for a year or two. Yuki's planning on getting a degree in education. He wants to teach college. He and the hebi have made a small improvement in their relationship as brothers. Tohru wants to be an elementary school teacher. Kyo wants to teach at a dojo. Momiji and Hatsuharu are still undecided.
Last year, Akito died, as expected. I wasn't surprised that Yuki and Kyo didn't come to the funeral. Kyo has always hated Akito and Yuki still has bad memories from him.
"Haa-san?" Shigure's voice snapped me back to the present. "Haa-san? Are you awake?"
I shook my head quickly. "Gomen, Shigure. Its been a long day."
Shigure just laughed. "Don't worry about it, old friend. It's not everyday your wife has a baby. Anyways, I tried calling earlier, but no one answered the phone. I just wanted to make sure everything was alright."
"Why were you trying to call?" I asked.
"Touji was starting to get worried." Shigure explained. "I've got Aya watching Touji at my place." I nodded and the inu continued. "How's Kana and the baby?"
"They're both just fine. Last I knew they both were resting." I said, scrubbing my face. "Touji has a baby sister named Emiko."
"A girl? That's going to make it hard for you to hug her, unless you want to transform." Shigure stated.
"I'm aware of that, Shigure." I said, heading to the nursery to check on Emiko. I slid open the door. Emiko was wide awake and looking as though she were about to start crying. I picked her up, careful not to drop her or hold her too close.
"She looks like Kana." Shigure spoke up from beside me. I didn't realize he had followed me.
"Would you like to hold her, Shigure?" I asked. He nodded and took the baby from me. "I'm going to go check on Kana."
I walked into the room where Kana was still sleeping. I placed my hand on her forehead. No fever, which was good. Usually, a fever is a sign that there's an infection. I kissed her cheek and quietly left the room. I slid the door shut when I left. I would have done a more thorough check up on her, but I didn't want to wake her.
I saw the inu standing in the living room. He was talking to Emiko, who had grabbed a small handful of the inu's yukata. I stood quietly in the hallway, watching them. I could tell that Shigure was trying to get as much parenting practice as he can. Mii was due to have thier first baby in three months.
I'm usually not a man who believes in miracles, but I think that its a miracle that Mii has managed to put up with him for as long as she has.
Just then, the front door slid open. "Otou-saaan!!!!" Touji came running up to me and threw his arms around my waist. "Otou-san! Is Oka-san ok?"
I knelt in front of the six year old boy. "Hai, she's just fine. She's sleeping right now, but she'll be happy to see you when she wakes up."
Shigure walked over to us. "Touji? Do you want to see your little sister?"
Touji looked at the inu with a big smile. "Hai!"
Shigure returned his smile. "Come on, let's go sit down in the living room. That way you won't drop her."
Touji quickly turned to me. "Is it okay?"
I nodded.
"What's her name?" he asked.
"Emiko." He smiled then turned to follow the dog to the living room.
"Gomen, Tori-san." Ayame said. He was standing in the doorway.
"Naze?" I asked, standing up.
"Coming here without calling, I mean Kana could have still been in labor. I didn't think that Touji was ready to know how babies enter the world. He was just so worried about Kana and the baby. This was the only thing I could do to calm him down. When I arrived at Gure-san's, Touji was worried and only seemed to get worse. I even offered to call Tohru so he could talk to her, but he didn't want to talk to her. He's still attached to her, you know. He was close to tears just before we left, which is why we left." Ayame pause to take a breath. "So, how's Kana? It looks like the little one's just fine."
"Kana's fine. She's asleep right now. If you wake her, I swear I'll make you regret it. The baby is just fine. Her name is Emiko and she looks like her mother."
"That's good to hear." Ayame said with a smile. "Oh, guess what! I asked Mine to marry me. She said yes! I wanted to tell you before I told Gure-san."
"Congratulations, Ayame."
"Arigato, Tori-san." He gestured to the living room. "Shall we?"
I nodded and led the hebi into the room.
