Chapter 5: Lith and Ryou

Lith immediately awoke when she felt the cod wet cloth pressed against her forehead. Her smoky blue eyes stared into chocolate brown ones, her black hair mingled with white, and snow drifting gently across her tan cheeks. Why wasn’t the snow cold? Was her first thought and then her confused eyes drifted to the sympathetic smile that filled a young boys face.
“Forgive me for staring at you, but you seemed to be hurt?” The boy said quietly, staring at the twisted form of Lith’s leg, illuminated by the rising sun.
“I don’t need you help!” Lith said harshly, struggling to sit up. Pain coursed through the broken limb causing Lith to bit her tongue to keep from crying out. She could taste the sharp metallic tang of her own blood flowing gently in her mouth.
“Here,” the boy handed her a stick, just perfect for leaning on. Lith glared at him, but took it nonetheless. A shot rang through the air, but they paid it no attention. There was a town not too far off. Lith walked in front and the boy walked behind her, ready to catch her if she fell.
“My name’s Ryou.” the boy offered kindly.
“Lith,” the girl replied shortly. She had gray blue eyes and obsidian hair; her skin was brown for the sunlight and she had thin pink lips. Being as she was, Lith wore leather pants and an evergreen blouse. She was about average height, coming an inch below Ryou’s head.
“Well Lith, we’ll get you to the hospital as soon as possible.” Ryou said with an encouraging smile.
“Whatever,” Lith sighed. This white haired boy just wouldn’t quit. Didn’t he understand that she didn’t want any to be friends with anyone? Or trust anyone? Not after what He did. What was the purpose to living anymore anyway?I have to repair the damage I caused, Lith thought. Until she could fix every little bit of chaos she had caused she was bound to cursed mortal pain and grief’s.
Lost in her thoughts, Lith tripped over a rock, not for the first time. A fresh bought of pain shot though her body, but she quickly caught herself on the stick Ryou had given her. Cursing, the ebony haired girl punched the nearest tree. This was Not the smartest idea, Lith discovered as agony raced threw her, twice as bad this time. She cried out and leaned against the nearest thing. Which just happened to be Ryou, but Lith didn’t care, nor did she notice, as long as the pain was gone, she would rest against anyone! Ryou just smiled to himself a blush working on his cheeks as he gently, and not to mention comfortingly, stroked Lith’s obsidian hair.
Lith looked up into the boys beautiful muddy eyes. She couldn’t help but let her heart guide her where it will. In love! A small smile played on Ryou’s lips. NO, it wasn’t going to happen! Maybe if no one knew…NO! But, the way his eyes sparkled in jubilancy! Yes if no one knew, Lith could fall in love. Content, the girl snuggled deep into Ryou’s chest. The world passed by as they stood there, silently bonding them. Whatever happened, the two sixteen-year-olds swore that they would be there for each other, forever.
“We should, uh, go.” Ryou said, braking the moment with the blush still burning on his cheeks.
“Of course,” Lith replied, straightening up and brushing herself off, even if it wasn’t necessary.
“How does you leg feel?” Ryou asked.
“Fine,“ Lith replied again.
“I’m sorry if that made you uneasy,” he said softly.
“I’m okay,” Lith reassured him. Then the two continued their journey to the nearest hospital, Lith now leaning against Ryou.

When they reached the small building that the two of Central called a hospital, they were greeted by a doctor. He took Lith to a small room and set and wrapped her leg in yellow bandages. “Rest plenty and try to keep off it as much as possible.” The doctor ordered, replacing Lith’s makeshift crush with a nicely carved one. “You’ll have to stay here for a while though, just to make sure the bone’s healing right. It’s a most interesting case…”
Lith nodded and slumped into the bed she had been put in. It didn’t really register what he had said as sleep began to take her. The last thing she saw was a bed on the other side of the room unoccupied…for now.
