He watched her from the back row. 'She definitely resembles him' Mustang thought as he scanned the facial features of the girl. She was wearing a black coat with matching pants and hat. Her blonde hair was pulled tightly back into a bun. Mustang kept his hat low over his eyes as to prevent recognition from one of the mourners that had come to pay their respects to the family, and to the two children they left behind. She was not the same smiling seemingly happy person he saw in the photograph in her file nor did he recognize the little girl whom clung to his leg every time she saw him in her younger years. He watched her so closely that he hardly noticed that the pastor had stopped speaking and everyone had been chatting simultaneously but mostly about the family. He noticed that Mary had finished talking to someone and that she had separated herself from the crowd and had begun to walk towards the cliff that looked over the seashore. He without thinking followed her. He was surprised to see that she had removed her jacket to find a white blouse and she removed her cap and allowed her hair to flow to her waist as she walked hastily towards the cliff.’ What is she doing?’ he thought as he quickened his pace as to not lose sight over her but when she ran over the hill and he lost sight of her he thought’ She is going to kill herself!' he ran over the tip of the hill to find her sitting on her legs hands in her lap staring out into the ocean, he gave a sigh of relief at the sight or what he didn't see. He stood there watching her wanting to go up to her to say something to her but he knew that if she met him now her first impression of him would be the worst. He only stopped staring at her when he realized that she was looking back at him. He was caught in surprise when she stood up. He then realized it was not him she was looking at. A man about Mustangs height blazed past him walking towards Mary, he recognized him immediately as Kane Young the 3rd, Mary's only surviving brother. He watched as the man embraced his sister and as she disappeared into his coat, he heard him saying something "I promise" he said.’ Promise what?' Mustang questioned silently, he assumed that he was promising her that he would never let anything happen to her that he would keep her safe and that they would live together happily. And as Mustang left them together he sincerely hoped the same.
