Mustang had returned to the apartment where he had found Mary in her room already unpacking her things. He saw that she was very neat in what she did, and that she took great care in making what she was doing perfect in what she was doing. He had thought about it all night as he slept rolling over and over in his bed racking his brain about the next day ahead. She would be going to school and he would be going to work. Many wouldn’t be able to see how it was strange to him for it wouldn’t affect his daily routine at all it’s just that he realized that he wouldn’t be able to think about anything but her.
He woke up and went into his kitchen where he found a piece of paper with a hastily scribbled message on it. After reading the note he hastily grabbed his clothes and ran out the door towards what would be Mary’s temporary school. As he was running he didn’t take much notice in actually avoiding the people that he was colliding with. His eyes were darting back and forth looking for her, he was doing this for a few minutes until he saw her. He ran to her and grabbed her by the arm which caused to turn around and look at him like he was crazy.“What are you doing?” Mustang asked breathlessly. Looking at her and seeing that she was in very formal attire. Mary took his hand off of her arm and turned completely and faced him.“I’m walking to school what does it look like?” Mary replied raising an eyebrow at his bizarre behavior.
“Well, why did you wake up before me? I could have walked you there” Mustang replied straightening his back to where he was once again taller than her.
“Look Mustang I don’t need an escort I’m a big girl” Mary replied turning back around and walking back in the direction of her direction. Mustang didn’t want to go against her wishes since being allowed to walk to school by herself wasn’t an unsafe or life threatening request. Plus they had only really known each other for a day if she got pissed at him now he wasn’t sure of how long it would last. He watched her until she disappeared in the crowd. Then he turned and began to head back towards Central HQ. Where he would at least attempt to get his work done.

A little later
After the bell had rung Mary walked out of the front doors of the school where she would wait for a car to pick her up and take her to HQ where she would do her homework in the library. But instead she found Edward Elric there waiting for her. When they saw each other they smiled. Mary ran down the steps to him.“Ed what are you doing here?” Mary asked in happy surprise, looking at Ed who was smiling at her.
“Well I was wondering if you wanted to go get something to eat? I’m sure you must be hungry after a day at school” Ed said still smiling at her. He knew very well that a car was coming to pick her up, and Mary knew that as well. But spending time with Ed, to her sounded like much more fun than going back to HQ and doing homework. After thinking it over she nodded to Ed who took her hand and led her down the street to a small café where they would eat.
“Wow Ed this place is so cute” Mary said taking her seat at the small two seating garden table and asking the waitress for coffee and a coffee cake. And Ed wanting to impress her ordering the same thing.

“So why are you here at Central I wasn’t told” Ed asked while they waited for their drinks to arrive. Mary hastily thought up a lie.
"I'm going to another school up north, I’m going to be here until my brother finishes his work in West then he’ll be taking leave to come get me and take me to his home where I'll be attending school.” Mary replied. Ed nodded at her reply wondering where the rest of the story of her being here had been left.
“That's nice” Ed replied to her, but she just lifted her head and smiled.
“Yes it is, I heard you had a brother right?” Mary said.
“You should meet him, he’s awesome, he’s also got a kind of knack for alchemy. What about you what is your association with the science” Ed asked smartly.
“Oh how official, but I’m not a state alchemist but you can say I am an alchemist, though I rarely ever use it.” Mary replied sipping the coffee that the waitress brought to them. All of a sudden Mary spaced out then she yelled,
“Ed watch out!” right before he spilled coffee all over himself. He jumped up as the hot liquid spilled over him. After it stopped burning he sat back down and looked at Mary with a weird look on his face, as he grabbed some napkins and soaked up some of the coffee from his pants.
“How did you know that was going to happen ?”Ed questioned her. Mary looked at him in anxiety.
“Let’s just say sometimes I can feel when something’s about to happen” Mary replied vaguely sitting back in her chair. Then leaning forward again.
“You think we could leave? People are looking at me weird.” Mary whispered eyeing the people that were watching them and then whispering to their companions. Ed nodded then got up and began to walk alongside Mary in the direction of HQ. Where a well pissed off Roy Mustang was waiting.

Back at HQ
“Roy your kid and her boyfriend are here!” yelled Havoc from outside Mustangs office as the two came in together. Mustang stood up behind his desk with a look of furyon his face.“Mary you’re late, you should have been here an hour ago where have you been?” Mustang asked eyeing the two youngin's. Mary opened her mouth to reply but was cut off by Ed.“Chill Mustang, I met her after school and took her to a café, as a kind of welcoming thing” Ed said slyly. Mustang grimaced, at the sound of Ed’s voice. He turned his head to look at Hawkeye who had coughed as a warning to not attack the blonde boy.
“I’ll let it go this time, but next time you’re going to do something after school with someone please tell me first, as I am obligated to make sure that you stay safe” Mustang said then sat back down but then looked back at Mary
“Oh yes I forgot, your brother is getting an early leave instead of three weeks he will be picking you up at the end of this week. Now if you have homework I suggest you do it, Havo- no Hawkeye will take you to the library and I will come and get you before we go back to my home. Ed you stay here." stopping the blonde from sneaking out of the office. Mary turned on her heel and walked out of the room her school uniform skirt swishing behind her.
“So, what happened?” Mustang asked the blonde boy removing his angry façade and looking at him in curiosity.“Well we had coffee and talked and then- ” Ed stopped short, not sure if he should tell Mustang about what happened.

"Then what?" Mustang turned in his chair and eyed Ed suspiciously. Ed didn't say anything for a moment so Mustang filled in the words for him.

"Whatever happened, don't tell anyone, you've read the report, and that's that. Like we've planned before you will still be meeting her after school and occupying her." Mustang ordered in a threatening tone.

"I would be doing the same even if you didn't want me to" Ed replied cockily shoving his hands into his pockets and backing out the door.
