The doctor walked up beside Ed as if he had heard his questions. Ed looked at him while keeping a close watch on Lilly. Envy looked a little nervous but kept his smart ass smile. He listened hard to what the doctor had to say.

"When I checked Lilly after she had the baby, I was sure that she was becoming human. That's what I had read in my brothers notes. But once I checked her again after she started to feel better, I thought I could still tell that she was becoming human, but there was this small dout. I didn't check the notes untill a few hours ago and when I did, I noticed something I had missed before. I thought that it said Lilly was becoming human after she had the baby, but I was wrong. I miss calculated. My brother put all his notes in code that only I could descript but I descripted it wrong on the part about the baby. I was correct about Lilly shared her powers with Rika to help her live in her stomack and that it had been transfered to Rika when she was born, but that's all I was right on. The rest was something else. It originally said that after about a week after having a child, Lilly would get her powers back. But the proble with that is, if she used them her body wouldn't be able to take it. The stress of having a child and using her powers in such a short time would kill her....for good. Lilly is using them now, Edward. She will die." The doctor said.

"You....you have to be lieing!!!" Ed shoted in dis belief.

"I am sorry, Edward. I am not."

Winry could feel more tears pouring out, along with everyone else. Will the tears and pain ever stop? Winry looked over at Al and walked to him. He put his arms around her and held her and Rika close. He too wanted comfort.

Lilly's eyes grew darker as she could feel the energy fill her body up. Ed took a step forward to try to stop her, but before he could Lilly turned to her side and held up one of her hands in his direction. Ed watched and started to run but a huge shield came up around him and the others. Lilly was still facing Envy. Ed anged on the dome shaped force filled.

"Lilly!! Please don't do this!!! I need you!!! Rika needs you!!! Don't do this!!!" Ed pleaded.

Lilly turned her head to him. She was still crying but had a smile on her face. Her hair was caked with blood of others, her tears, and sweat. Yet it still blew in the wind and took Ed's breath away. Ed put both his hands on the shield. He knew that smile. It meant she was happy, very happy. He had seen it many times before, like when she first saw Rika and when he asked her to marry him and the time he saved her from being captured and tested on. She was crying but smiling like she felt nothing but happiness. Ed watched in disbelief and began to shake his head no. Lilly looked him in the eyes.

"Raise her right. Make sure she knows me. Make sure she eats right, and sleeps enough. Make sure she knows I love her. I'm going to miss you both." Lilly said while smiling and crying silently.

"Lilly....please....I can't lose you again.....I love to too much....." Ed pleaded throught his tears. Lilly turned away from him and her other hand at Envy and his army. Envy took a step back in fear.

"LILLY!!!!" Ed screamed and hit the shield with all his might.

"I love you, Edward Elric....." Lilly whispered.

She shot Envy a death glare then flicked her wrist. Tones of explostions scattered in the army Envy had. Then fire flew up from the ground. Men began to scream for mercy but Lilly showed none. She flicked her wrist again the ground began to split. Each person fell into it along with Envy and Gluttony. Lilly closed her fist and the ground closed. To make sure they were truly gone, the whole underground where they layed exploded and flams along with rock flew up. Lilly closed her eyes and took one last breath before letting the shield down. Unlike before, Lilly's body didn't slowly disappear, instead it faded into nothing. Ed ran to her fading form but by the time he got there, she was gone. Nothing was left of her but the destuction she left behind. Ed fell to his knees and cryed out Lilly's name. Everyone behind his cryed harder.

Mustang went to look down at Riza's body but was surprised to find Riza sitting up. Everyone turned to him as they heard him gasp. He helped Riza up and held her close.

"I thought I lost you....I love you...." Mustang whispered.

"I love you too...." Riza whispered back.

"How...how did..." Al tryed to say.

"The power of her sacrific. She brought Riza back to life as well as held all of your wounds. It's her gift." Dr. Mile explained.

"She....she...SHE DIDN'T DESERVE TO DIE LIKE THIS!!!!" Ed shouted hitting the ground while a puddle formed from his tears.

Winry looked down at Rika in her arms, she was finally sleeping. Winry looked up at Al and he nodded. Winry quietly walked up to Ed. She looked down at his shaking body.

"Ed..." Winry began. "You still have Rika. She needs you more than ever now." Winry said trying to hold back her tears with no such luck.

Ed looked up at Winry. She took a step back. She had never seen so many emotions on Ed before. Sadness, anger, envy, lonliness, and a hint of fear. She was taken back. In a way, it scared her to see someone such as Ed like this. Ed stood up and his face changed. Only a little, but she could tell it did. Now he also had greatfullness, for still having Rika with him. He looked down at Rika in the blacket. Winry handed Rika to him. He smiled at his little girl that didn't have a scratch on her. Not even dirt was on her.

"Your mother protected you till the very end. She gave her life for you, you know." Ed said smiling down at her.

Rika's small eyes opened and she yawned. Ed laughed. Rika smiled at him and looked him in the eyes.

"Did I ever tell you how I met Mommy?" Ed asked as he started back to him and Lilly's home. "Uncle Al and I were on this very same road on our way to see Uncle Roy....."

Everyone watched as Ed walked into the distance with his baby girl. They all looked at their old wounds. Now all that was there was dirt, sweat and tears. Lilly, once again, had saved someone else and lost her life for it....never to return.

"And that's when she laughed for the first time, Lilly." Ed said.

Ed was holding Rika in his arms as she slept. He was standing at a single grave under a tree by the river. On the grave it read:

"It's been three months now. It still hurts to wake up and not see you beside me. Rika still crys for you and I can't seem to easy her pain. She wears a locket I gave her with your and mine picture in it. I know she is young for it, but she never chews on it or trys to take it off. At night she crys because your not there to sing to her. I try, but to her it's not the same." Ed held Rika close and she snuggled against him. He started to cry while he smiled at her. "She sleepd with the bear I gave you. And she's getting so big. Al and Winry visit often and even got married last month. They visit as often as they can. Riza and Mustang just found out that same month that Riza was pregnate. She wants to name it Lilly if it's a girl. She came to visit you to thank you for giving her another chance. Mustang brings you flowers every week. And I visit you everyday. But you already know this. Don't you?" Ed's tears became heavy. "I still find it unfair. I just got you back and you leave me once again. I don't blame you, though, I blame myself for not stoping you. I wasn't strong enough....to protect you." Ed placed one of his hands on the tomb stone. "I'm sorry. I know that if you were here now, you would kiss me and tell me it wan't my fault, but it's hard not to think it isn't." Ed laughted a little. "I didn't even get to kiss you good byr before you left. I still look up at the sky to see if you are coming down from it. I know that sounds dumb, but you always like the dumb things I wouls say." He looked around. "You know, this is the very stop we first made love at. I thought you might want to be here because you always loved the river. You told me once that the feel of water rushing between your toes made you feel like you had somehow was part of it. You were. I know that now. Your part of everything and I can see you everywhere. Exspecially in Rika. She looks more like you each day. I'm sorry that your grave it only filled with one of yourwhite dresses and some other thinks that you had two of, but with no body to bury.....it was hard." Rika began to cry. "She's hungry. I guess I had better get her home and fix her a bottle." He stared towards home, then stoped and looked over his shoulder. "It still hurts. It's still hard. But I'm learning. She keeps me on my feet. She's the only thing that really keeps me going. She has your smile....that's something I could never forget. I love you, Lilly, my wife."

Ed walked away and felt the wind blow in his hair. He smiled at the sky and wiped his eyes. He looked at his metal arm that Lilly had tryed to fix. He glanced down at the necklas she had given him. Then he remebered Mustang mentioning soemthing about finding the Philosopher Stone where Lilly had stood before she died. Mustang had it in a safe and keep quiet about it....in case he might need it for something later. Ed laughted.

One day......I will see her again. Because somehow I know this is only the beginning's end.
