Chapter Nine: Mother's Intuition

It was noon and Edward was lying on the roof of his house. The sun warmed him gently as he napped up there on a full stomach. His mother had made stew again and it was his favorite. He felt a tickling sensation on his nose and swatted at it. There was a faint giggle and another tickle. Edward shot his eyes open to come face to face with puppy Andy.

 

“I see you stuffed yourself full,” Andy said as she turned into human form and sat with her arms around her knees.

 

“Mom's cooking is the best,” Edward said as he placed his hands behind his head.

 

“Edward,” Andy said as she looked at him through the corner of her eye.

 

“Yeah,” he yawned out and closed his eyes.

 

“There is one last trial up ahead for you,” Andy told him as she stood and dusted her blue jeans off. She straightened her white shirt that was over her green long sleeve. Edward rose up from where he was lying and looked at Andy.

 

“In order to communicate telepathically, you must go through a trial called Dark Rain.” Edward's eyebrow rose.

 

“Trial?” He asked her.

 

“I can't tell you anything else about it but I know it will be very painful,” She still didn't look at him when she raised a hand waist high and summoned a fire ball. She played with is as if it were a tennis ball.

 

“Do you wish to have this ability?” She asked him still playing with the fireball.

 

“I'm not afraid of pain but do you think I should have that ability?” Edward asked her as he stood. Her hair waved gently in the breeze as he waited for her answer.

 

“Yes,” She said and let the fireball disappear shaking her hand as she did. Edward watched her as she turned around with a frown on her face.

 

“Edward, you should know something before you start your trial.” She said as a lone tear slid down her face. Edward was confused.

 

<i>Why is she crying?</i> Edward thought to himself as he watched her wipe at the tear.

 

“When I was still human, I became really ill. I moved away from my home country to live with my brother. That's when I met a sweet young man. He looked acted and even had the same name as you.” Another tear made its way down creamy white face. Edward watched her with a look of shock on his face.

 

“What happened to him?” Edward asked her. She turned to the side and wrapped her arms around her chest. She couldn't take it anymore. She transformed into her Hellhound form and jumped off the roof. She was howling when she ran into the forest. Edward sighed and jumped off the roof to go after her but was stopped by a hand on his shoulder. He turned around to see his mother smiling at him. She had long brown hair and emerald green eyes.

 

“Edward sweetheart, can I talk to you for a moment?” Trisha Elric asked her son. Edward smiled a sheepish smile and followed her inside.

Roy walked into the living room and sighed.

 

“Where did that bean sprout go to?” He asked as he sat down on the couch.

 

“I'd say he went to have a one on one talk with mom,” Alphonse said as he joined Roy on the couch. Roy winced at the thought. He was going to tell his mother that he was not only in a relationship with an older <i><b>Man</i></b> but now he and said older man were both Vampires. Roy could feel the wrath all ready. Good thing he wasn't in Edward's shoes at the moment.

At that moment Edward didn't want to be in his shoes either. His mother was giving him that look. The look all mothers give you when you've either lied or did something bad. Edward could feel the sweat pouring down the back of his neck and face. He swallowed in her glares wake.

 

“Edward Yuri Elric!” She shouted at him. He paled even worse that he already was.

 

“M-mom I can explain!” Her glare silenced him.

 

“Why didn't you tell me that you were dating that gorgeous man with a nice ass sitting in our living room?” She asked him as she hugged him fiercely. He was speechless.

 

“You knew I was gay?” Edward asked her and she looked at him funny.

 

“Edward sweetheart, you can't escape a woman's intuition,” She smiled at him.

 

“I also know that you're a Vampire,” She told him with a wink.

 

“What?” Edward deadpanned.

 

“Oh, don't give me that, you're happy and that's all that matters,” She said with a smile. Edward sighed in relief.

“Hey Roy, when are we going back to Central?” Edward asked as he washed the dishes for his mother. Roy who was drying and putting them away looked at his lover with a raised eyebrow.

 

“Edward, why are you in such a hurry to get back to Central?” Edward shrugged and Roy snuck a glance at the calendar that Ms. Elric had hanging on the frigerator. December 19 2006.

 

<i>Shit! Edward's birthday is on the 21[1], Fuck!</i> Roy cursed himself. Edward raised an eyebrow.

 

“Is there something <i>Wrong</i> Roy?” Edward said with a blank face. Roy smiled sheepishly at his lover and shook his head.

 

“No, nothing's wrong.” Edward closed in on the sweating Roy and he didn't like the expression Edward had on his face right then. Murder chaos and several billion Sens worth of damage were about to come out of his hide.

 

“So when <i>are</i> we going back to Central?” Edward asked him.

 

“As soon as you finish your training. As soon as possible!” Roy corrected himself when Edward raised a fist at him. Edward smiled and went back to washing the dishes. Roy sighed in relief.

 

“You can be really scary sometimes…” Roy muttered under his breath. Edward let it go, he was to busy trying to hold back his laughter.

 

“Alright boys.” Andy said as she came up behind Roy and clapped her hands together.

 

“Tomorrow Lord Emperor Elric starts his trials,” Andy told her brother.

 

“I'm looking forward to it…” Edward said sarcastically which caused Andy to laugh.

 

“Trust me, don't look forward to it.”

Yeah I know I'm sorry guys. I was supposed to call this chapter Reunion Of The Dead, but it would have been way too long if I did that. I'm sorry for taking so long to update. I had writer's block or something…well anyway I hope you liked this chapter. Oh and to clear some things up. Chapter one does not sound like the beginning of Interview With A Vampire. And the reason Ed takes to Roy being a Vampire so quickly is because no matter what, Ed is still going to love him. Well I pushed Reunion Of The Dead up a chap so it will be the next one. Later.
