Fullmetal Alchemist Fan Fiction ❯ Lonely ❯ I'm sorry and I love you ( Chapter 12 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

This is my second FMA fic. There are a few warnings: Winry bashing, Al OOC, Ed OOC, and this will be an Ed/Roy pairing. This fic switches POV back and forth between Ed and Roy. Some chapters with have both POVs, some only one. I don't own FMA but this original story is mine.

There is also a color key.

Black: Author's notes and other people speaking.
Black with * means random noises.
Blue: Roy (Both thoughts and speaking in and out of POV mode)
Red: Ed (Both thoughts and speaking in and out of POV mode)
Now without further ado, here's the story. Enjoy!

Lonely

“Yes, he's there?!” I say as I'm talking on the phone, “Oh, thank God! Thank you!”

“You're welcome,” says retired Inspector Marie Thomas, “Roy, you shouldn't have yelled at Edward.”

“You're right,” I admitted, “Thank you, Marie.”

“Come over tomorrow at two o' clock because he sleeping right now,” she says, “Goodbye, Roy.”

“Good bye, Marie,” I gratefully said, “And thank you for watching over him.”

“I watched over you when you ran away from home,” she says, “See you tomorrow.” And with that, she hung up the phone.

My Fullmetal angel, how could I hurt you? I am so sorry.

I woke up and walked down the stairs. Something smells good but, I shouldn't be a bother. I've already bothered enough people. I walk over to the kitchen and see Marie cooking. Jonathan was setting the table.

“Thank you for letting me stay but, I'll be on my way,” I said.

“Not without breakfast,” she insisted. She turned to me and said, “Come sit down, Edward.” We all sit down and have a good meal.

After breakfast, I help them with the dishes.

“I would appreciate it if you would stay with us until at least three,” said Marie.

“Yeah!” said Jonathan, “we can play games all day!”

Admittedly, I was unsure about staying but, I couldn't leave now because that would be ungrateful.

“Alright,” I said as I helped with the last of the dishes.

Later, we were just about to have lunch and as Jonathan and I were putting a checkerboard away, when the doorbell rang.

“I'll get it,” says Marie, “now, why don't you the two of you go sit at the table?”

Jonathan and I get to the table when I noticed that an extra place was set for someone.

“Come in,” I heard Marie chirp, “he's right here.”

Jonathan and I looked towards the door and I saw Marie enter with Roy, who was carrying a bouquet of white, red, pink, and peppermint roses! He also brought Sunbeam!

I gave Edward the roses and the bear. He looked shocked and surprised. We all sat down to a good meal with mutual friends. Then I asked Marie if Ed and I could have a moment alone. She said that we could use the parlor. We walked into the parlor; Ed looked a bit scared while clutching the bear. The door closed and I sat down in one of the chairs while he and the bear sat in opposite chair from me.

“Ed,” I said as I leaned forward in the chair, “Let me tell you a story.”

(Flashback)

I was fourteen when I ran away from home. My alchemy was a gift from my mother's side of the family but, it always sparked my father's fear and loathing. He was raised to hate alchemy and see it as a mortal sin against nature. He learned that my mother was an alchemist after I was born—with alchemic powers. I was hit and he told me that I was a bastard. One day, I came home from school and saw my mom on the kitchen floor in a sea of blood. She had been stabbed in the back three times.

“MOM!” I screamed, “MOM, WAKE UP!”

I started crying when the door swung open and my father stood there with a bloody knife that oozed crimson all over the floor.

“YOU LITTLE BASTARD!” he yelled at me, “I'LL KILL YOU ALONG WITH YOUR WITCH MOTHER! THEN YOU'LL BOTH BE IN HELL!!!!”

I screamed and got out my gloves that were made for me by my mother, and snapped blindly. I had set the house on fire and ran like the devil was on my heels. We lived about twenty miles from Central in a small town called Amber Falls. I ran like hell to a bridge near the main town. I slept under there the whole night. The next morning, I walked the twenty miles to Central. By the time I got there, I was so exhausted that I collapsed. When I woke up, I was in a bed and Marie, back then Inspector Marie told me that she was the one who found me. She looked like she was in her twenties.

“You're awake, terrific,” she smiled.

“Where am I?” I asked as I sat up.
“You're in Central,” she said as she put a tray in my lap, “My name is Marie Thomas. I'm an Inspector for the military.”

“My name is Roy Mustang,” I said then I told her how I came to Central.

“Poor boy,” she sighed, “What a horrible thing to have happen.” She gave me a hug and I cuddled into her. My father was tried and executed for murder the next day. I lived with Marie until my twenty-first birthday and became State Alchemist. The Ishval massacre reminded me so much of the day my mother was killed but I don't know how I escaped with my sanity. I guess I never will.

(End Flashback)

Poor Roy! To be almost killed by his own father?! Then Roy got out of his seat and knelt before me.

“I know what it's like to be alone in the world,” he says as tears leave his face, “I've known the cold blanket of loneliness. The strongest I've felt them was when you ran away from me after I yelled at you. I realized that without you, I'm only half a soul.”

I knelt on the ground with him and said, “I'm sorry for being such a bother…”

“NO!” he says, still crying but I wipe a few tears away, “What I was angry at had nothing to do with you and I took my anger out on you, my Fullmetal angel.”

“What did you just call me???” I asked because I had only heard that phrase once before but, I thought I was dreaming! Roy was bright red because he realized, I think, that he said the wrong thing out loud.

“My Fullmetal Angel,” he repeated as he brushed my hair from my face, “Edward, I'm sorry for hurting you. Also…I…”

Then he closed his eyes, cupped my chin in his hands and softly kissed me! I froze.

“Love you,” he finished. He must've taken my stillness as rejection because he looks away, sadly.

“Roy,” I whisper while I touch his face with my hands, “Don't be sad, I love you, too.”

Then I kissed him softly but the kisses started to get hotter, hungrier. I wrapped my arms around his neck as he wrapped his arms around my waist, we are still kneeling. I've never felt happier.

Edward was like me, living with only half a soul. My beautiful Fullmetal Angel, I never, ever want to be separated again. We ended the kiss to breathe when we noticed that Sunbeam was on the floor with his backside to us as if to say, “This is none of my business. Leave me out of it!”

“If I didn't know any better,” I said with a smirk, “I'd swear Sunbeam was mooning us!”

Ed laughed hysterically as he fell into a laying position on the floor. I lay on top of him and we share a chaste kiss.

“No,” smiled Edward, “he's just mooning you!”

“Oh really,” I smile. I started to tickle him and he started laughing again. His laughter is the most beautiful sound. It's like a vocal rainbow, full of magic. Just then, Ed tickles me back and we end up a giggling heap on the floor.

“Let's get back home,” I smile as I hold him.

“Okay,” Ed smiles as his golden eyes sparkle.

We left the Thomas home, after thanking Marie, arm in arm as we went home.
