Fullmetal Alchemist Fan Fiction ❯ Nothing is lost forever ❯ Chapter 1

The first time that I wrote this it must have been pretty lame because no one reviewed and it wasn't a big hit with my friends either. So I decided to give it one more shot. Here it is and I hope you like it, please review.

 

Brigadier General Flame Alchemist Roy Mustang looked over the encampment. It was a waste of time; he knew it, those in his command knew it and so did the Fuhrer. But here they were, bored out of their mind.

His good eye roamed over the numerous tents laid out. Half of them were in the process of being taken down. They were finally going home. Three years of being in this dump and they were going home. Central. Everyone thought that Mustang of all people would be one of the people most relieved. But no one knew that Mustang really didn't care anymore. It had been four years. No word of Edward. Not one. Al was slowly killing himself with exhaustion over in the East, having signed up for the military half a year after Edward had disappeared. Lieutenant Colonel Riza Hawkeye was in the East with Al, though she didn't seem to be having any luck slowing the idiot down. And Mustang…he was a wreck. On the outside he seemed to be his normal in control cocky self. But inside…he was slowly dying inside. First Hughes, now Ed…but Ed wasn't dead. Just missing. Just over the `gate'. That's all Mustang had figured out of Al's babbling.

“Sir” a voice said behind him. He turned to see Lieutenant Colonel Jean Havoc. Havoc had stopped fooling around since Ed had gone missing. No one knew why. Havoc and Ed had had a platonic relationship. As far as Mustang knew, Ed and Havoc had barely known one another. But Mustang wasn't interested in Ed's love/sex life. He had given up of any hope of the teen thinking of him in that way. But the thought of Havoc and Ed…it made his skin crawl. Just another worry to add to the pile. Though Havocs sudden halt in stupidity could have also been the transfer of Hawkeye. She had quickly followed the younger Elric to the east when he had signed up.

“What is it Havoc?”

“What are you doing up here? You aren't paid to sit on your ass all day you know” Mustang glanced at him. Why was he in a bad mood? Havoc was just as glad to see the end of all this pointless dirt as everyone else was.

“…”

“What is it Havoc?!”

“We have word from the east sir” Mustang looked at him intently, dangerously.

“Hawkeye's been dishonorably discharged from the military. Al had been faced with a court martial about a fortnight ago and the hearing was two days ago…”

“Hawkeye's been dishonorably discharged from the military? What the hell for?” Hawkeye? No way, she was as military orientated as anyone could be.

“For outright refusing an order from a commanding officer and the Fuhrer”

“So why wasn't she court marshaled?” Disobeying the Fuhrer? Hawkeye? None of it made any sense.

“Circumstances” Havoc replied with a shrug. Mustang glanced over the encampment again. Half the tents were gone.

“What was Al court marshaled for?”

“Human transmutation…Mustang…he…he tried to bring Ed back” Havoc said, his voice breaking.

“Damn!” Mustang cursed and rubbed his face. Ed wasn't dead, didn't Al realize that? Al was the one who had convinced him that Ed wasn't dead! He turned to walk away and stopped, realizing something.

“The hearing was two days ago…”

“He was found guilty. Execution” Mustang turned sharply and stared wide-eyed at Havoc.

“They didn't…” he whispered.

 

Sorry about the cliff-hanger. I'm a sucker for it. I am starting then next chapter right now. I guess I'm a little guilty. I'm hoping that if people like it enough they'll review. Anyway, please review if it was any good at all. I changed it a lot with the plot because the whole Al and Riza thing seemed to turn people off. It didn't actually happen and it was all a set up but I guess even saying it is not a good thing. And I totally respect that. So I hope you like this first chapter, though I know that its very short and all.

Ive also finished the FullMetal Alchemist series but Ive decided to stick with this story. I guess Ill take bits and pieces from the actual thing but not all of it. Im gonna do this my way. Hope you like it!
