Riza glanced at the clock across the room. Four hours until the work day was through. She had to admit, she was a little uncomfortable with the thought that Edward might not come back—today—with the ‘remedy’ to this mess. She still wasn’t used to seeing her body across the room and hearing her voice enter those crude conversation’s that the men seemed more than happy to indulge in each day was enough to make her want to scream. She did, in her mind. Havoc, she knew, by the end of the day was going to be physically injured somehow. He was enjoying this too much. He was egging Roy on, that much was clear to her. The reason, she was sure, was because Havoc found it hilarious to hear the Lieutenant talking just like Roy would. She glanced over at the large stack of papers on her right. At the least, Havoc was going to have a hell of a lot of paperwork to do.
She took the opportunity to bring up her meeting with Roy’s recent…date. “Sir.” She called out and winced at the familiar voice—his voice, still—coming out. She wanted her body back. “When I was out getting your lunch I took the liberty of organizing your wallet.” She couldn’t help it; she had to bring that up. However, she wasn’t expecting the strange expression that crossed her face across the room, as if he were nervous.
“Did you use my Military Card?”
“Yes.”
Ah, shit. He leaned back and pulled his—her—feet down from the desk. The look she sent him made him think twice about putting her feet back up there. That wasn’t the problem though. What he was afraid of would scare any man and being that he was a man, it scared him shitless. Women liked to shop. “You didn’t use the card to go shopping, did you?” He could imagine her doing it, just for a little pay back for the hair episode.
She rolled her eyes and Havoc snickered at the look of Roy’s body doing that girly move. “No, sir. If I wanted to do that, I assure you, I have my own money to do that with.” She had one meeting to go to before the day was through and she had been putting it off. Roy had informed her on everything she would need to know but it was still a little off-putting. Going into a meeting that was required of HIM, she could mess things up. Then again, what could get worse than this? She sighed and ran her—his—hands down her face. It was better to get it over with. The worst thing she could do was make him look stupid. She was sure she had it covered though. He could make a fool of himself easily on his own. If anything, she was going to make people see him in a different light. Then he would go back to his lazy self. If he were any different, she wouldn’t have stayed by his side. He was who he was and even if only a little, she cared about him.
“Fuery, do not let him leave this room. Havoc, do not touch my hair and do not encourage him to do anything that he—or you—will regret. You, sir, remember what I just said.” She saluted them all and walked out, closing the door softly behind her. Might as well do the meeting before she called out of it.
“Do it, Mustang. When you’re back in your body you can say that you did one…” Havoc tapped his cigarette against the ash tray and then brought the tip back to his lips. Nicotine. Life couldn’t get any better. It might kill him someday but if he died with one of these babies in his mouth, he would die a happy man.
Roy was sweating. He didn’t care if he was in the Lieutenants body. He was still used to have balls and the thought of doing a split sounded like it was going to be painful. They had plenty of time so they didn’t have to worry about the Lieutenant coming back for a while. “Alright…” He stood and stretched, bringing his arms up high over his—her—head. “Alright, here goes.” He took a deep breath and then went down. He wasn’t sure how he did it but her body moved smoothly and without any pain he completed the split.
“Well I’ll be damned…” Havoc muttered.
Roy grinned. Her body was a lot more flexible than he had thought. Then, another thought entered his mind. “$20 say’s I can beat you in a fight.”
Havoc lifted his hands and shook his head. “Ah, no. I don’t hit women and besides, if I happened to hit the Lieutenants body even by accident, she would shoot the hell out of me. I’d prefer to live, thank you.”
“Come on. I just want to see what she’s got. You can pull your punches. As long as you don’t hurt her body then…”
Havoc sighed. He was with Mustang all the way. He wanted to see how flexible she was. They had seen her fight and shoot but it wasn’t the same as hand to hand combat. “Alright.” Havoc nodded and pushed back his chair and motioned Roy forward with his hands. A “come-hither” motion. Fuery’s only thought as he watched them was, How stupid can the two get?
That question was answered when Roy—Riza’s hand—shot forward and connected with Havoc’s nose. Blood spurted and Havoc cursed, stumbling back. “Ah, shit!”
“This should work.” Edward pointed toward the Alchemy designs on the page he was showing Alphonse as they walked down the hall towards Mustang’s office. “It’s a complete reverse of what we did earlier.” He was a little worried about putting Lieutenant Hawkeye back in her body though. Not because there would be any side effects but because she was liable to shoot him. Though he was a skilled Alchemist and had proven that time and time again, it had taken him nearly all day to find this. “It’s a little complicated but I can do it.”
“I still think we should have called Izumi.” Al replied.
“No, thank you. She would have knocked me dead on the spot if she’d heard what I tried to do…” Or worse, she would have used the Alchemic spell on Edward and put his body in the lizards. Their teacher had a bad, bad sense of humor. At least, to Edward, she did. When they walked into the office, they weren’t expecting what they saw.
Roy was holding a thick, white bandage over Havoc’s nose while arguing with the Lieutenant behind him. The bandage was half soaked with blood and Riza looked very, very uncomfortable as he argued with her.
“What the hell did you think you were doing, Sir?”
“We didn’t think your body would actually get a hit on him…”
“If you’re trying to insult me, Sir, I highly advise against it…”
Edward scratched his head, wondering what the hell had happened. Why Havoc was bleeding from the nose, he didn’t ask. He cleared his throat and all four heads turned towards him. The Lieutenant jumped up from where she had been sitting. “About damn time, Fullmetal.”
When those words came out of her mouth, no matter that she sounded like the Lieutenant, Edward knew without a doubt that that was Roy inside her body. The Lieutenant never called him Fullmetal. “Geez, thanks for coming back, Fullmetal.” Edward snorted, thanking himself in a mocking manner as he glared towards Hawkeye’s body. “I’m not even going to ask what happened, so let’s do this.” He dropped a large white sheet of poster board on the floor and drew a simple transmutation circle. “That should do it…” He glanced up. “Alright, you two come and stand in the middle.” He motioned the Lieutenant and Mustang forward and when they stepped in the middle he kneeled down. “Alright…” He clapped his hands and placed them on the circle. Like before a bright, white light flared up. The others watched while the Lieutenant and Mustang stayed still until the light faded away.
Mustang’s body tilted sideways and fell, his head catching the edge of a desk.
“Sir!” Riza called out, her voice urgent. Relief flooded her when she recognized the voice coming from her lips and the body—when she glanced down—was her own. She was back in her own body. She rushed to Roy’s side, as did the others. A gash at his temple was bleeding from the impact of the desk. She glanced up at Edward as she checked Roy’s pulse, felt the strong, steady beat. “What did you do, Edward?”
“I did what the book said…”
She glanced down at Roy, worry for him feeling her when he didn’t move. Havoc, for once, was serious as he helped to move Roy away from the desk and onto the couch in Roy’s office. “Well, you did something wrong, Edward.” She replied.
‘Nice to know you care, Lieutenant.’ The familiar voice replied in her mind dryly. It was filled with mockery—and pissed. A sinking feeling settled in the pit of her stomach.
