Chapter 6: The Exam

 

+ Saturday+

+Central HQ+

 

After five days of terrible reviewing, the examinations day had finally arrived.

 

Kae, Melanie + who's obviously jealous of Rhenne, Kristine, Jeremay and even Mrs. Carlson were all waiting for Rhenne in front of the Central Head Quarters.

 

Ed and Al were first to arrive. Ed looked much terrible and thinner than the last time that they saw him. It seemed as though he didn't get enough sleep from the passed days.

 

“ Where's Rhenne?” Kristine asked.

 

Ed glared at her. His eyes were looking totally dreadful. “ THAT EVIL BRAT! IT”S HELL!!!! He forced me to teach her about alchemy all night without any break!! And not only that! She always yells at me whenever I fall sleep in the middle of our review” he whined.

 

“ What…. did…you…. say…Edward Elric…” a cold voice said.

 

“Rhenne! So you're finally here! What the hell did you do to these boys?! Look what you have done!!” Kae frantically said. “ And where in the world have you found those clothes?”

 

Rhenne was wearing an ocean blue halter-top and a pink ruffled mini skirt. It seemed that she had a new pair of white flip-flops as well. Her hair was neatly braided similar to Ed's leaving only her bangs. And for the first time, she didn't put any make up even powder on her face.

 

“ Did you like it?! I made it myself.” Rhenne proudly squealed. “ You see… before I left I asked Mrs. Carlson if I can have those high quality fabrics and shoes that were stocked on the storage room. Then I decided to create new clothes for us. I've got a whole box in Ed's place.” She smiled.

 

Melanie glared at Rhenne. “ How could you do that to my ED!!! I let you stayed in his place even if I am really jealous! But I never thought that you were going to abuse him!!!!! And all you did is to make clothes!!!! I bet you weren't really focusing on your review!!!” she sobbed.

 

“ Is that what you told them?!!! Al you know what really happened!!!!” Rhenne burst out. She was really furious about it. “ That PIPSQUEAK was the one who let me do all their household chores for FIVE DAYS as an exchange … he would teach me alchemy!! I was their servant!!!! For heaven's sake girls!!! You know that I am not good in our home economics class!!! But I still tried just to learn that stupid Alchemy!!!!!!”

 

“Ed… is that true?” Kristine asked. + She was trying not to laugh at Rhenne who was on fire. +

 

“Yah… I did that but I taught her everything that she would need for the exam!! And besides you call that service!! All you did is clean our place and cook those hideous foods if you could even eat those!!!!” Ed tactlessly shrieked.

 

Rhenne's eyes narrowed even more, “ How dare you!!! I poured my very best on those dishes!!! And by the way Melanie… there's no need for you to worry. I swear. I wont steal him from you!! Are you insane!! Have you forgotten about rule 0128 in ` Rhenne's official guide for choosing the right guy'! He should be at least 5'8” tall.” She smirked.

 

Ed exploded when he heard it, “ Rule what? Why, because I'm too puny to match your taste? And what made you think that I'm going to like a monster like you!!! I still want to live you know!!!”

 

“ Brother…. You have to admit that you really let her worked so hard…. She had done even your laundry… and she wasn't that bad at all….” Al tried to hush the situation yet it didn't work.

 

“Al is right!!! Let me tell you this pipsqueak!!! I hate puny guys!! How am I supposed to see you in a crowd when you're as tiny as a toddler? If I were you… I'm going to drink a full tank of milk…oh! I forgot! I heard you don't like milk! Well that explains it…” Rhenne laughed. “ You're going to be a puny shrimp for the rest of you're life!!!!!”

 

“Haven't you seen you're self in the mirror!!!! You're even much shorter than me!!!!” Ed was really going mad. He was trying to get free from Al who was holding him tightly. “Let me go Al!!! I'm going to teach her a lesson!!!!!”

 

“ Would you please stop that!!” Mrs. Carlson gave a long sigh. “ My goodness you two are behaving like children. Is she always like that?” she asked Jeremay.

 

Jeremay +so embarrassed+ just nodded.

 

“ Actually you haven't seen her evolve as a real monster.” Kristine smirked. “ Believe me, she is turning a two headed monster with long tail and hideous scales. It' quite pretty disgusting…” she taunted making everyone laughed at Rhenne.

 

Then Kae swiftly glowed when she saw Roy. She abruptly fixed her hair and checked herself on the mirror. “ Hi Colonel!!! You're looking so good today!!!” she grinned.

 

“ Well thank you sweetie.” Roy smiled back at her.

 

It was quite obvious that Kae had been anticipating to meet him again.

 

“ So are you ready? I hope that letting you stay with the Elrics helped you.” Roy stared at Rhenne. “ Come on let's go.”

 

Rhenne nodded, “ Okay. See yah later girls!” she waved goodbye then immediately followed Roy inside the building.

 

+ First Part+

 

As Rhenne entered the room, she noticed that everyone was on her. It seemed that she was the only girl who was going to take the exam.

 

“ A kid? Is this some kind of a sick joke!”

 

“ Yah… how can they let a girl takes this exam?”

 

“But she's kinda cute… she looks like my little sister.”

 

“ Guess she's just around ten….”

 

Rhenne still smiled even if she was totally annoyed. She never wanted people gossiping about her. And especially, she hated being treated like a useless twerp by arrogant guys.

 

A LITTLE GIRL!!! URGH!! AND THAT OLD HAG EVEN THOUGHT THAT I'M ONLY TEN!!! RHENNE YOU BETTER GET OLD OF YOURSELF!!!! I'M GOING TO SHOW THEM THAT GIRLS CAN DO THE SAME THINGS LIKE GUYS!!!! She thought.

 

+ After 1 hour+

 

The written part was finally over. Rhenne gave a long and deep sigh. She almost freaked out in the middle of the exam. Just like what Ed and Al told her, it was seriously difficult.

 

Rhenne decided to wait in the corridor while waiting for the announcement of the result. “ Oh dear!! I'm so exhausted!!!” she squealed while making some stretches. “ That darn exam was totally so much!!!!” she screamed. She was completely startled when someone approached her.

 

“ Hi missy…. It seems that you're alone… can I join you?” a young handsome guy smiled at her. Based on her observations, he might be around 18 to 20.

 

Rhenne leered, “ Umm… of course…. By the way I'm Rhenne. And you are?” Jackpot!!! After waiting for 14 years, I've finally found the one just for me!! He's tall, young and handsome!!!! I guess I'm going to like this place from now on!!

 

“ Rhenne…. Nice name… I'm Zack….” He carefully took her hand. And to her surprise, he kissed her hand. “ I couldn't help but to notice you… you're much cuter than I thought…”

 

Rhenne suddenly shivered. She failed to get her hand from his tight grip. “ Well thank you….”

 

“ Are you scared? I'm not going to hurt you my dear….” Zack held her chin. Then he lowered to her until they were almost one inch apart. “ Please forgive me if I'm too fast. But you see… you've got lovely lips…”he said huskily.

 

“ You know what… you're really cute..” Rhenne leered.

 

“Really… thanks sweetie…” Ivan grinned.

 

“TOO BAD BECAUSE I HATE PERVERTS!!!!” Rhenne slapped him right into his face. “YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO TOUCH ME LIKE THAT!!!! YOU STINKING FREAK!!!”

 

+ Second Part+

 

Luckily, Rhenne managed to pass the first part. She was still a bit furious about that incident. It was her first time to be harassed by a total pervert.

 

+ Outside the central HQ+

 

“ Hey Kae… would you mind if I ask you a question?” Al and Kae were sitting alone while waiting for others.

 

Kristine and Melanie went window-shopping while Mrs. Carlson asked Jeremay to accompany her in the market.

 

Kae smirked, “ Sure… what is it?”

 

“Uhmmm… I'm just wondering…. Where do you really live?” Al asked.

 

Kae went speechless. She didn't know what to do.

 

“Kae…”

 

“Well we're…. We're somewhere in the east….” She lied. “ Yah… we live in a small town…. it's not really famous so I guess you haven't heard anything about it…”

 

“ Really… I thought you were from….”

 

“ From where….”

 

“Never mind… look here comes Melanie and Kristine…” Al changed their topic. I guess we're wrong… but how the heck did they get my brother's watch!! I am sure that we left it there!!!

 

+ Third Part+

 

After a very tough interrogation, Rhenne ha finally reached the 3rd and last part of the exam.

 

Rhenne was totally astounded to what she saw. They got a miniature forest. Complete with Rocky Mountains, and different trees. They even got a mini river and Snow Mountains.

 

A state military officer stepped forward. “ As you can see, we have provided everything that you might need as your materials.” he clearly explained.

 

What the heck will I show them!!! Darn it!! I don't have any idea!!! Rhenne almost went nuts.

 

Then one of the examinees bravely moved forward. He drew a huge transmutation circle on the ground. He put several rock boulders and water. And to her surprise, he transmuted a huge monument of King Bradley.

 

“ Well that's quite impressive… I might ask him if I could have it.” King Bradley grinned.

 

Duh… that freak examinee reminds me of my idiot classmates who are teacher's pet!!! Rhenne thought.

 

“ SWEETIE… HI!!! I've been looking for you!!!” Zack rushed towards her.

 

That insolent pervert!!! Oh no!! Don't tell me he's planning to….

 

Rhenne clapped her hands. And before he could even get near her, she forcefully pushed him away.

 

Then suddenly an immense volt of electricity came out of her palm.

 

“WHAT THE….” She startled.

 

Roy immediately ran towards them to break their connection. Zack was nearly toasted by her.

 

On the other hand, Rhenne was completely in a state of shock.

 

“RHENNE!! RHENNE!! Are you alright?!!” Roy shrugged her on the shoulders.
