“Brother? Are you ready to go?” asked Alphonse

Edward stared at Alphonse, who was in his original body. Ed smiled, glaring at the body he thought would never be like this again. “Yeah,” said Edward picking up his trunk, “Let's go.” He and his beloved eleven year old brother headed out the big double-doors of the East Headquarters. He was finally going home.

They aborted the train at around five-thirty in the morning. The steam whistle blew and they were off, homeward bound, in the passenger's cart. Edward stared out the window with grief, urging to tell Alphonse what had happened between Kate and himself. He let a sigh of depression escape his lungs.

“What's wrong, nii-san? Aren't you happy that you're going home to see Winry, Kate… and aunt Pinako too?” asked Alphonse with a glimpse of concern.

Edward tried to smile like nothing was wrong. “Of course I am, Al. It's just…” Edward grimaced and sighed once more. “You'll find out later, okay?”

Alphonse was worried about his brother. What could have possibly went wrong with him? Letting it be, he responded with a slight nod of the head.

Edward remembered that night, the night he and Kate made a new life and got pregnant. He didn't regret it one bit, but Alphonse still didn't know about it. He wanted to keep it a secret, yet blurt it out at the same time. He was sure that trouble will come if he kept it a secret until birth, but he still kept quiet.

This was going to be Alphonse's first time seeing everyone in his former body. Due to Equivalent Exchange, he lost his memory of being in the suit of armor for four years for bringing Edward back from the dead. He was excited and nervous to see everyone's changes, imagining the happy faces of everyone in town happy to see him back.

The early-morning sun shone through the windows inside the room with two beds. Kate awoke with a pain inside her belly. “Stupid Edward,” she said with her hand on her stomach. Kate had secretly slept in Edward's bed the night before. She sank her face into his pillow to smell the sweet scent of his hair and his body. It had been a month since she had last seen him.

Kate sauntered down the stairs to find Winry at the table with a mug full of coffee and Pinako at the stove making breakfast. Giving all a morning's greeting, she sat at the table with Winry.

Pinako set the large plate of bacon and eggs along with the toast and butter on the table, but when she got there, she glared at Kate's stomach and realized something was different. “Kate, I can't help but notice, but are you gaining weight?”

Kate gasped, but sighed in shame knowing that it couldn't be held as a secret any longer. “No, it's not that,” she laid her head on the table and sighed once more. “Ed and I… we…”

“Oh, don't tell me,” Pinako took the pipe out of her mouth and sighed. “I had a feeling that was going to happen some day or another. Ever since you two bought that house, I always knew that it was going to happen,” she looked up at Kate, who had brunette hair almost waist-length and crystal clear blue eyes. “I just hope Ed's not too surprised when he gets home to see that his--” she inspected Kate's body and found the golden ring on her left finger, a sign of engagement, “fiancé… isn't her skinny self anymore.”

Kate lowered her eyelids and looked down at her feet in sadness. She took a plate of the homemade eggs and bacon and slowly ate, wishing Edward were here right now. But she knew this was the day, the day she finally gets to see her love again.

It was about mid-afternoon when Ed and Al got off the train. Edward drove the rest of the way, having Alphonse in the back seat. Alphonse watched the wind rush through his brother's hair, his long blonde ponytail whipping around along with his bangs. He had changed since he last remembered him.

“Nii-san?” asked Alphonse.

“Yeah, what is it?” asked Edward looking back at him.

“What does… Kate look like now?”

Edward looked back to the road and smiled warmly. “Oh Al… She's a beautiful young woman. Well fit… with a gorgeous profile,” he sighed as he continued driving along, “I just can't get over of how radiant she's gotten over the years.”

“Are you starting to like her, nii-san?” Alphonse smirked, not knowing they fell in love while he was bound to the suit of armor.

“Like? Al, she means the world to me,” Edward smiled and sighed once more. “If only you remembered… how we used to cuddle up in my bed and she and I would spend the night there,” he laughed as the memory went on, “You wouldn't even know about it.”

Alphonse smiled, imagining what it would have been like. “Did you guys ever kiss any?”

“Well, yeah,” said Edward as he looked at his left hand, which was on the steering wheel, and looked at the golden ring on his finger, “But that's all different now…”

“So, you don't love her anymore?”

“Of course I do, Al!” said Edward in a hoarse voice, “Let's just… leave it, okay?”

Alphonse looked around and saw a sign that said, “Resembool: 11 miles.” He gasped and shouted in an excited voice, “Brother! Look!”

“Yup, we're almost there,” Edward replied as if he didn't want to go home.

Kate and Winry were sitting outside underneath a tree when a black convertible car pulled in the dusty driveway. Out of the car came a tall young man with a white collared shirt, a pair of slacks, a dark vest, and long golden blonde hair tied tight in a ponytail. The man was…

“Edward?”

Kate rose up off the ground. She had never pictured it, the Elric brothers reunited once more. She ran to Edward in an eager attempt to hug him and Alphonse.

Edward turned around and smiled as he opened his arms to embrace Kate, hugging her tightly when he said, “I'm home…”

Kate had tears rolling down her face. Edward set a warm tender kiss upon her lips, putting one hand on her head and one on her waist.

Alphonse sat and stared in confusion. “Maybe you… should get a room?”

Kate gasped. “Alphonse!!!” she screamed as she hugged her soon to be brother-in-law. She gently kissed his cheek. Alphonse blushed and smiled a little. He noticed Kate's belly was unusually large and the same ring his brother had was the same one as Kate's. Something was different…
