Roy stood there, a bit stunned.
Hawkeye had walked out, without asking permission to leave... And then he remembered.
He had said after hours, they were only human. No one was higher ranking than the other.
He sighed as he realized that he had given her permission to leave at any time,
Without knowing it.
Hawkeye walked down the hall, her arms crossed tightly across her chest. She had forgotten her coat, and she wasn't about to go back and get it.
'It won't be too cold...' She thought. 'Its only fall.'
She came to the front doors, and opened them quickly.
She gasped slightly at the temperature. She shivered and almost started to re-think her leaving so quickly.
'Wait... What am I thinking?' She thought.
If she went back inside, that would mean dealing with Mustang, again. She really didn't want to have to do that, so she kept on walking, the sky darkening as she walked. She put a hand to one of her pockets, making sure her key to her apartment was still there. She laughed a little, she was being a bit jumpy. Where else would the key to her apartment be?
Roy slumped down in his chair, sighing in annoyance. He could be... Dull at times.
'Smart move, Mustang.'
A voice in his said.
'I told you needed to get a wife!'
He jumped.
'Was... Was... That... Hughes?'
He looked around the room frantically. Then realized that it was all in his head.
"Dead people can't talk..." He said, laughing at his stupidity.
Hawkeye continued on her way, it was almost completely dark now. She was thinking about a few different things, not much really. She stopped, as she heard a noise behind her. She sighed, seeing nothing out of the ordinary, what did she expect? Complete silence? She was in Central after all, it was normal to hear noises. She was just being... Overly nervous.
She continued on her way, looking around at things on her way. She heard footsteps behind her, put her hand to the gun holstered at her back, spun around, and then... nothing. Blackness. She had been attacked by, something, rather... Someone.
That someone was Scar.
Roy yawned, it was getting late. He got his jacket, flung it over his shoulder casually, and walked out of his office, locking its door. As he walked the empty halls of H.Q, He whistled a tune, not anything in particular, just a random song that he was just adding notes to as he continued. He pulled his jacket on as he got to the front door, and locked it also. For good measure, he tried the door knob, just to be sure it was locked. He turned to walk to his apartment, which was the opposite direction of Hawkeye's. He had no idea what had went on, or what had happened. He continued on his way, night had already fallen.
The next day, Roy arrived at HQ. Something was wrong, he could tell. He had had a rough night last night, he hadn't slept at all. Something behind his thoughts had been bugging the hell out of him all night. He opened the door to his office, and said from habit,
`Hawkeye, is there any coffee made…” And stopped. Hawkeye wasn't there.
“That's odd…” He said scratching the back of his head.
Someone walked in through the doors behind Mustang, and he turned around, seeing Havoc.
“Have you seen Hawkeye?” He asked. “Is she sick or something?”
“You mean…” “You didn't hear sir?” Havoc said, a surprised look on his face as he removed the ever present cigarette from his mouth.
“Hear… What?”
“Hawkeye. She's... In the hospital sir. She was attacked last night on the way hom… Hey! Sir! Wait!” Havoc yelled as Mustang pushed past him and out of the office.
“Damnit Mustang…” Havoc muttered.
As Roy arrived to the hospital, he asked if he could see Hawkeye. The woman at the front desk denied him entry, saying that she was in too much of a critical condition, and could not have visitors.
“Listen here, ma'm, I happen to work for the military, and Riza Hawkeye is one of my subordinates.” He said pulling out his state alchemist pocket watch.
“I'm sorry sir, no exception… Hey! Get back here!” She yelled, as Roy walked past her desk in a hurry.
He had gotten a look at her clipboard, and it listed the names of the people who had been admitted to the hospital. He had seen Hawkeye's name, and room number. He was in a hurry to get there, and he wasn't going to let the rules stop him from it.
As he walked into the room, he saw Hawkeye laying there, in a sleep like state. He couldn't tell if she was asleep, or worse. Her right arm had a large bandage around it, and her head had a bandage wrapped around it. She had various scratches on her face. He stood there next to the bed, frowning.
“How... How did this happen?” He asked himself.
“Damnit, if they were after me, they should have come to me, she had nothing to do with it.” He swore under his breath and ran his fingers through his hair.
Hawkeye stirred, and he straitened up. But, she didn't wake. He sighed, and looked around the room, and didn't see anyone else. He pulled a chair from the other side of the room up beside the bed, and sat there.
Just then, the door opened, and the lady from the front desk came in.
“I don't know how you got her room number but…”
She stooped.
Roy turned around,
“Just, go away lady. I'm not doing here, I'm just sitting here. I'm not planning on killing her or something, what harm can I do?”
The lady stood there, looking rather flustered.
“I told you. No exceptions! Now out!”
“Excuse... me.” Came a voice from behind Roy.
“Miss! I don't…”
“Hawkeye!”
The lady and Roy said at the same time.
“I don't think its wise for you to be speaking or moving!” The nurse said rushing over to the bed as Hawkeye made an attempt to sit up.
“I'm fine.” Hawkeye said wincing. “I'd be better off if you'd stop pestering me...” She said, obviously annoyed with the nurse.
“I think it's time for you to leave.”
The nurse blinked in surprise, and crossed her arms.
“Fine. Twenty minutes and no more.” She muterd, leaving the room and slamming the door behind her. Roy stood there, and suddenly found the cracks in the floor extremely interesting.
“Well?” Riza asked.
“Well what?” Roy asked, looking around the room.
“What are you… Doing here?” She asked plainly.
“Well, I heard about what happened to you from Havoc, and just decided to come over here on break…”
“Sir. Your break isn't for another two hours if I'm correct.” She said bluntly. Oh, she had him there. He shifted uncomfortably, and then stood up taller and smirked.
“You should be flaterd, Hawkeye. I cleared out dates with other women just to come see you.”
She rolled her eyes. Her mood was beginning to sour, just as the conversation in the room was about to.
“So… You did?”
“Yep.” Mustang said shrugging.
Riza glanced at the flower vase on the side table.
“Nice vase isn't it?” She said picking it up.
“I.. I guess so.” Roy said, startled by the sudden change of conversation.
“I'd hate to have to break it.” She said, tossing it lightly from hand to hand. Roy's eyes widend.
“Hawkeye?”
“Sir?”
“I was kidding. About the dates thing.”
“Oh? So you were lying?
