AN: Sorry it took so long to get out! This is the last chapter. After this will be an epilogue… *Sniffles* I can't believe my first fanfic is finished. I know it's not as good as previous chapters, but I'm still battling with the dreaded writer's block. Please review! Enjoy!

Chapter 21- The Battle

Genrou and Houjun jumped away as the demon spirit attacked.

Akurei growled and chased after Genrou, who was desperately trying to evade him.

"God damn it, the one time I don't have my fucking tessen…" He complained as he kept running.

Houjun tried to call upon his magic, but couldn't cast a spell.

'Don't be afraid, Chichiri. Just as you cannot call upon magic, neither can he. His strength is weakened, because he can no longer call on the strength of the God. Believe in your strength as seishi, and unlock your true powers of the spirit,' A child's voice told him.

Houjun closed his eyes and felt the fire of Suzaku burning around him. He saw a bright light and the child who spoke to him, Pyra, reaching out her hand.

Akurei and Genrou stopped fighting as the area glowed red from where Houjun was standing.

"You will not hurt my beloved," Houjun said, his voice deadly quiet.

Akurei growled and lept at the glowing man.

Houjun closed his eyes and a wall of red energy protected him. Akurei attacked the barrier, in a fury.

'Tasuki, Chichiri cannot defeat this demon alone, add your true powers to his and destroy this dark devil once and for all. Concentrate on your power deep inside, and awaken the true seishi within,' Pyra instructed.

"This had better work…" Genrou growled.

He closed his eyes and, despite his lack of practice meditating (AN: He was too busy trying distract Houjun then to learn something useful like meditating ^_~), managed to find the power of Suzaku deep within.

"Go to hell, bastard," Genrou said.

Genrou glowed with a red-orange aura. His body was completely engulfed in red flames, as he attacked the demon spirit.

Akurei let out an inhuman cry and attacked the younger warrior, while engulfed in a black aura. The fire engulfed Akurei, but the demon continued to press onward towards the seishi.

Suddenly, from behind, a red ki blast hit Akurei, causing the demon to let out another cry as his spirit was destroyed.

Gasping for breath, both seishi fell to their knees, exhausted from the power the battle took.

Houjun looked up at Genrou and smiled.

"Thank you, Gen-chan," Houjun said.

"Don't thank me yet, we gotta get back now," Genrou said, forcing himself to stand.

Genrou offered a hand to his love, who gratefully accepted the help.

Slowly, the two left the spirit realm.

***Kage's Temple***

"If they don't get back in a few moments, they'll die…" Kage said softly.

Soft giggling filled the room, and a small child appeared.

"They no die, they coming!" She laughed.

"Pyra-chan! What are you doing here?" Kage asked.

The child giggled.

"I wanted to help. Akurei tried to stop them, he gone forever now," She answered.

"Thank you," Kage said, with a smile.

"No problem, Kage-oneesan!" Pyra said, winked, and disappeared.

"They're waking up!" Ryuuin called.

"Someone get me some damn Tylenol, and what the fuck did I drink last night?" Genrou groaned, rolling over.

"You didn't drink anything, you were dead, Genrou, but you're back amongst the living again," Ryuuin chirped, a little too happily.

"Fuck off…" Genrou hissed.

"Watch your mouth, Gen-chan…" Houjun muttered, holding his head.

Suddenly, Genrou remembered everything that happened, and shot up.

"Houjun! You're alive!" He said and hugged the other man.

Houjun laughed.

"Of course I'm alive, baka Gen-chan," Houjun teased.

"Welcome back," Sahitei said gently.

"Thank you," Houjun replied.

"Indeed. Thank you, for everything. You're right… About everything… I was foolish," Kage said softly.

"Just don't do it again, ne?" Houjun held a hand over Genrou's mouth to prevent him from saying something rash.

"It's good to see you two again," Ryuuin said happily.

"Likewise, Nuriko," Houjun said.

"It's Ryuuin now," he corrected.

"You're work here is finished, minna-san. It's time for your to return to your own world," Myst announced, materializing in front of them.

"Well, let's get going," Genrou said happily.

Everyone laughed softly and stood.

"Good bye," the two goddesses said, as they glowed softly, sending the seishi to live the rest of their lives in peace.
