And when I move away from view
my voice is singing in the wind,
it rises up to touch the sky
telling all that I believe in,
and from the night earth shall sing again.

"I knew you would be coming here," Taiitsu-kun said. "And I also know why you have come. Are you sure about this?"

"Yes," the living ghost replied. "It will help me in my quest, and it will allow this body to be free. I know fully well what it is like to be a prisoner."

Taiitsu-kun nodded. "Very well, then."

A cloud of brightly glowing mist poured out of Tasuki's seishi mark. He collapsed to the ground, unconscious. The mist hovered above him, taking form as a shimmering orb.

Taiitsu-kun raised her hand, and a silver aura formed around the orb. There was a blast of blinding light, and the living form of Manami replaced the orb, surrounded by the same silver aura. She opened her eyes for only a moment before she began falling. Mitsukake caught her in his arms before she hit the floor.

Manami looked up at him with a crooked smile. "Thanks..."

Before he could give a reply, she, too, fell unconscious. He shifted his arms to support her body and said nothing at all.

"Okay, where's Midori?" asked Tamahome.

"This is she," Taiitsu-kun explained. "Her true name is Manami Okuda. Her brother is the one called Midori. She was the one who fought Seiryuu all those centuries ago."

"Well, this won't carry over with Tasuki too well," Nuriko said with a grin. "He's going to try to kill her when he hears about this."

"There is one thing I must mention to you," Taiitsu-kun continued. "When I preserved Manami's soul, I split it into two halves. I kept the one half, the half I just brought back from the dead, inside that golden orb you found. But the other--" Her voice trailed off.

"What about it?" said Hotohori.

"When I combined it with another soul, I believed that its powers would be used for good instead of evil. Unfortunately, he has used them to full potential, giving him the upper hand in many a confrontation with those who oppose him."

Tamahome sighed. "Sounds like someone we know, all right. Nakago?"

"That you must learn for yourselves." Taiitsu-kun smiled at the group. "I wish you luck on your journey. And remember, there's more to Manami than meets the eye. She can be a bloodthirsty warrior if need be."

Miaka gulped. 'This is going all downhill,' she thought. 'Why, why, WHY did I have to pick up that stupid book?'
