Chapter 3- The Truth

Everyone was quiet. There was a large amount of tension and everyone could feel it. Miaka looked at Tasuki and then allowed her eyes to drop down to Chichiri, neither of them was making eye contact and it bothered Miaka.

"Come on you two. You can tell me. Why is Suzaku saying that I am in danger, and why does he want me back there?" she asked.

Miaka looked at Yui who had the same worry in her eyes. Yui looked over at Chichiri who was starting to reach over for his staff.

"Priestess, there are certain precautions that all of us need to take when it comes to you, our Priestess, ya know, and in order to do this, we need to be able to watch over you more carefully." he said, still not making eye contact.

"But why? Why do I need to be watched over? I was never in any harm the moment all you left my world almost a year ago. Why now? What is happening?" Miaka was starting to get frustrated. She knew that Chichiri knew all the details and she was getting upset because he was holding out and not telling her.

"Miaka," said Tasuki, finally looking up but still not making eye contact, "there is someone after you. We need ta' get you back ta Konan or the Mountain Retreat where me an' Koji live for a while." Tasuki trailed off.

"You know don't you? Both of you know who is after me and why they are doing this, don't you? Just tell me please!"

Miaka watched in silence as she saw both Tasuki and Chichiri nod their heads. Chichiri took off his mask to show his face, he looked in Miaka's eyes, the moment he did this Miaka felt weak, as she knew who it was. She saw his eyes trail from hers to the picture of Taka.

"Its Taka, ya know" he whispered. Miaka's world started to spin, she was getting dizzy, and she shook her head and stood up. The tears where forming a stream down her face. She needed to be alone. She ran to the nearest room,fell on the bed and cried. Soon sleep came to her.

"We gotta' do sumthin'" whispered Tasuki coming out of the room Miaka

was asleep in, "I can' stand to see her like this!"

"Poor girl," agreed Yui. "I m going to go wake her up, you guys have to get going soon don't you?"

"Yes, We do as a matter of fact." said Chichiri. "Where is Tamahome, er, I mean Taka, ya know?"

Yui's heartbeat got faster. She looked up at him with caring eyes for Miaka. She heard Tasuki behind her; he had slammed his fan down on the table with a big crash.

"He did it to her. He was the one that made her bleed, that gave her all those... THOSE bruises!" said Tasuki through clenched teeth. Yui followed where his eyes were Tasuki's were, he was staring at the wall where Miaka had fallen. He saw the dark blood spot. His character mark was glowing on his forearm showing that he was angry.

"Yes, he was. It must have happened right after I left. I knew he was acting awkward right before I left. I had no idea it would go this far." Said Yui," I'll go get Miaka up now."

"No, Yui, lemme' do it." Offered Tasuki. He was out of the room heading for where Miaka slept before Yui or Chichiri could interfere.

Tasuki quietly opened the door and saw her face buried in the pillow.

~ Thank Gods I can see her face ~ He thought. He walked slowly towards her, keeping his eyes on her. He leaned down and he could smell her sweet smelling hair. ~ Peaches, she smells like peaches ~ he thought. He leaned down even more and kissed her on the only exposing part of her face. Miaka started shifting in her sleep and startled Tasuki

~ Oh shit, did I wake her up? ~ Her new position was staring right at Tasuki. Tasuki looked at her face and looked away, he felt disgusted with Taka, and for a moment, he hated him. Tasuki heard Chichiri chanting a spell to open the barrier between the two worlds and he knew he had a few more moments.

"Miaka. Miaka, wake up, we have ta' go now. Come on wake up." Tasuki had an idea, he knew her weak spot and he needed to poke at it for awhile to wake her up. "Miaka, I got peaches. Yummy, yummy peaches, one for me and one for you, wan' it?"

Tasuki smiled. Miaka knew what he was doing and it was funny to her. "You don't have any peaches. Don't tease me like that!" she laughed getting out of the bed.

"It got ya' out didn't it?" asked Tasuki

"Yes, it did. Are we going now?"

"Yea. Chichiri and Yui are outside waiting for us." he said grabbing her hand, "Lets go now."

Miaka and Tasuki walked outside and saw Yui backed away from Chichiri with eyes the size of golf balls. Chichiri was in the process of casting a spell, there was a red dark scarlet light surrounding him and he was covered in sweat. He was opening the barrier between the two worlds and letting Suzaku know that they would soon be on the way home.

"Miaka, we only have a few more moments before I get tired. I can't hold this spell forever, ya know. Say your good byes quickly!"

Miaka ran over to Yui understanding Chichiri. She hugged Yui and said to tell Keisuki, her brother, know what happened when he comes back from his trip. To tell her mother that she was on an unexpected vacation and that she didn't know when she will be back but not to worry.

"MIAKA! HURRY YA KNOW!"

Tasuki grabbed Miaka and got her next to Chichiri. Soon, she was covered in the radiant red light as well. Chichiri said a few chants and, little by little, they were vanishing.

"Yui! The Scroll Taits-Kun gave me! Read it to keep up! GOOD BYE, SEE YOU SOON!"

A few moments later, the room was empty. They were gone on the way to Konan.

~ Soon, I will see them again. My warriors. How I missed you all ~

thought Miaka.

Miaka remembered why she hated traveling like this, it always made her dizzy. All three of them where swallowed by the red light as she heard Suzaku's screech. The spinning stopped as she felt ground beneath her.

~ This is it ~ she thought. ~ I'm home ~

"Welcome back, Priestess of Suzaku." said a voice behind Miaka. All three of them jumped and turned around.

"AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH" screamed Tasuki. "YOU OLD BAT!!!! DO

YA' HAVE TO POP OUT OF NOWHERE LIKE THAT!!!?"

"Taits-Kun!!! How are you! I missed you!" Screamed Miaka running for the Creator.

"I have been well. I am sure you have been informed why you are here, am I correct?"

Miaka looked down at her shoes and started trembling, remembering what Chichiri had told her back at her world.

Taits-Kun looked at Miaka then at Tasuki, who was being held back by Chichiri, then back at Miaka. "I see."

Miaka looked back at Tasuki and Chichiri who where still fighting among themselves. Tasuki bit down on Chichiri's hand and sent Chichiri howling in pain. Tasuki stood forward teeth clenched and arms raised. Chichiri started casting a spell and Tasuki's face was covered in a red light.

"YOU UGLY OLD KOON! DO YOU-!" Tasuki's mouth was magically sealed by one of Chichiri's wonderful spells.

"Thank you Chichiri. Remind me I have to call upon the others later. Since they were reborn some time ago, I highly doubt that any of them would have the memories yet, they are no older than 12 years old and they may need a remembrance spell in order to regain memories of the past life."

"Yes." said Chichiri glancing back at Tasuki who was trying to yell but couldn't. His actions made Miaka, Chichiri, and Taits-kun go into fits of laughter.

"You seem tired Chichiri. That spell must have worn you out." Said Miaka seeing Chichiri yawn.

Miaka sat in her room on her bed thinking to herself, wondering if Yui was reading the scroll or not ~ No, I don't think she has even left the room yet. With the time difference I expect her to be standing there still ~

Remembering the time she came home from a three week trip only to find out that she had been gone only three hours. There was a quiet knock on her door, the door slowly opened and Tasuki walked in the room holding two large, juicy peaches. Miaka's eyes got wide and she jumped off her bed to Tasuki.

"YAY! PEACHES!" squeaked Miaka.

Miaka sat there eating hers while Tasuki ate his. Miaka wasn't aware of It, but Tasuki had been staring at her the whole time. Miaka looked up and saw Tasuki looking at her. A small blush crept up her face and she looked away.

"These peaches are good. Where did you get them?" asked Miaka.

"I had Nyan-Nyan go get some from the Capital, where they are fresh." Smiled Tasuki exposing his fangs. "I'm gonna go ta' bed, you should to,It's been a long an' bad day."

"Good night." Smiled Miaka. Tasuki leaned down and gave Miaka a kiss on the lips. He took a big bite of his peach and walked out of the room to his room next door leaving Miaka shocked.
