It was an obnoxiously long night.
The sun rose, washing color over Ayami’s pallid face and I shift some in my seat when she stirs at the light moving over her form.
“Ayami?”
A faint smile passes over her lips.
Her eyes open part way and I go to her side.
“…this is a…surprise.”
The voice she speaks with is weak and tired, hoarse and faint.
I’m puzzled and apparently she can tell that much.
“I…didn’t know there were…angels in Hell.”
I draw back, wondering if she’s hallucinating.
Does she think she really succeeded in dying?
“What angel? What Hell? You didn’t go anywhere, Ayami.”
Her eyes close, lips turned down in a disappointed frown.
“Is that so..?”
I don’t get a chance to reply to her as she drifts back to sleep.
