Chapter 21: I'll Never Let You Go

Hikari picked up a scythe from the ground and began attacking Homura with such speed. Kanzeon Bosatsu raised her hand and raised a shield to protect Homura. Homura's sweat fell to the ground.

`Her eyes… so different from before…. What did Qien Ping do to them?'

"HOMURA! WATCH OUT!!!"

Homura heard Kanzeon Bosatsu scream but it was too late. Hikari's scythe hit his forehead with a loud thud. Blood began gushing out of Homura's head. Luckily, it wasn't a very deep cut.

"How did she manage to cut me?"

Qien Ping picked up her fan and laughed.

"Foolish Gods! That was one of the Legendary Scythe that the previous Portal used to kill the other Gods in the previous times which was sealed underground for about 3000 years. I brought it back to its original owner and let hell break loose. Let's see how you manage this, Homura!"

"Damn!"

Homura began to get serious. He concentrated hard and watched as Hikari's movement. Hikari's speed was increased and the scythe movements she placed were light and graceful.

`If I'm not mistaken, this was the Angel Feather Scythe. This was the lightest scythe ever build, or so they say. It creates a vacuum that draws out any element when it slices through the air. That is why I noticed the fire from my sword keep getting less.'

Hikari sliced through the air and pushed the air collected. It turned into a fireball and it hit Kanzeon Bosatsu's shield. Kanzeon Bosatsu was a little shaken from the hit.

"Homura, be careful! It's-"

"I know! It's the Angel Feather Scythe! It creates vacuum and sucks the fire from my sword which creates a fireball. Kanzeon, be careful!"

`Now, to devise a plan… I have to figure out a way to destroy that scythe…'

He watched as Hikari hit the ground with the scythe. Homura tried evading as much as possible while she attacked Homura, crushing floor tiles with a great impact which made the small pieces of the tiles fly in the air. Suddenly, Homura's eyes opened wide.

`Of course! Why didn't think of it before?'

As her scythe drew closer, Homura swung his sword back and hit the scythe upward. The scythe shattered like a glass mirror. Hikari was shaken by the impact and fell back.

"The vacuum sucks up the energy from the sword so I attacked the scythe reversed. Instead of using the sword to hit upward to downward, I used the sword to hit from downward to upward, simultaneously destroying the vacuum created, therefore the scythe is powerless."

Hikari looked at Qien Ping. Qien Ping noticed that Hikari was already awaked from the impact from her spell. Qien Ping tried to use her spell again to possess Hikari's body. Hikari looked stern and picked up a sharp scythe shard.

"Oh no, you don't!"

She trusted the shard into heart and lay before them dying. Homura looked astonished from her act.

"Hikari!!"

"It's the only way….. I could ever save anyone of us from getting hurt… (Cough) Once inside, she controls the whole of me…… So, I won't let it happen again."

"Hikari, stay still! You're gonna be alright."

"Too late, Homura. It's like they say, once bitten, twice shy."

Hikari looked up at the sky which was cotton blue. She shed a tear and closed her green eyes.

"Goodbye Sanzo…… I'll never…………."

Hikari gave out her last breath, not finishing her last sentence. Homura bent down and shut her eyes.

"HIKARI!!!"

Sanzo and the others arrived at the top of the tower. The scene was dark and mortifying. Homura got up from his kneeling position.

"What happened?"

"She's gone."

Hakkai looked and noticed that Hikari lay dead before their eyes.

"You killed Hikari?"

"Wrong, she killed herself. You'll understand…."

Qien Ping gazed at them began chanting her spell.

"Good, the rest of you are here. Let's make it even, shall we?"

She clapped her hands as the two Xu sisters and the Slayer stood up. The two sisters grabbed their weapons and began attacking swiftly at their targets. Gojyo evaded as he was attacked by Li Shi whilst Mei Shi was handling Goku.

"Gojyo, watch out!"

Gojyo leapt away as Ying Hui plunged her giant sword to the ground. Hakkai shot an energy ball at Ying Hui. Ying Hui turned away and began attacking Hakkai. Sanzo turned to Homura and looked at him in the eye.

"Sanzo, it is best that you take this advantage to kill Qien Ping while the others are busy. We can save the others and not lose another life like Hikari."

Sanzo nodded and ran towards Qien Ping.

"You think it'll be that easy?"

She snapped her fingers and the last one awoke.

"Shyirin!"

Sanzo looked as Shyirin loaded her ammo. Shyirin's hair gently wave to the rhythm of the wind. Sanzo gazed her in the eye as Shyirin was already possessed. Qien Ping laughed as she summoned for Zeltorfe.

"Zeltorfe, I want you to go and look for Akiyoshi and tell him my work is done."

"But ma'am…"

"JUST DO IT!"

Zeltorfe nodded his head as he transformed into a dark raven and flew off into the southern skies. Sanzo stared at Shyirin as she didn't move for a while. Qien Ping rubbed her hands together and chuckled evilly.

"This is gonna be a very long fight."

"Li Shi! Don't do this! You know this is wrong!"

Gojyo's words could not be heard as Li Shi was deaf to all of his pleads. Gojyo tried to block as much as he could. He swung his blunt side of his scythe and hit her in the head.

"Li Shi, wake up!"

Li Shi awoke from the hit and immediately ran towards to Gojyo. She embraced him tightly while choking. Gojyo noticed something amiss. He looked as he noticed scythe was piercing through Li Shi's stomach.

"Li Shi! Why?"

"Gojyo, I couldn't control myself anymore so I wanted to embrace you the last time. It is best I kill myself rather than to hurt you at all."

Li Shi fell to the ground as Gojyo caught her in his arms. Li Shi's soft pink hair flowed down from her usual bun. Her beautiful pink eyes began to shed tears as she touched Gojyo's face softly.

"When I am gone, I want you to plant a cherry blossom tree in our remembrance."

"Don't say that, Li Shi!"

"Gojyo, it was a good thing I met you. Without you, my life…… would feel incomplete."

"Li Shi, please don't leave me now…"

"I will always love you, Gojyo… and I will bring this ring with me to my grave…… in return, take my necklace. I will wait for you……………."

Li Shi started to suffocate and air began to run out. Li Shi stopped breathing and died in Gojyo's loving embrace.

"LI SHI!!!! NO!!!"

Gojyo turned to look. Mei Shi has also died. Goku was sobbing beside her. Hakkai shut Ying Hui's eyes as he grieved. They all turned to Sanzo and Shyirin. Shyirin raised both her guns and began firing as Sanzo dodged all of her shots. Shyirin fired once more, knowing that she must destroy Sanzo… but something went wrong. Her ammo ran out. As she reloaded her ammo, Sanzo took the opportunity to shoot. He aimed as he slowly pulled the trigger.

"SANZO!!"

They looked and saw Shyirin had dodged the attack. Instead, Qien Ping was hit. Shyirin awoke from the spell as Qien Ping fell back. Shyirin fell unconscious as the rest looked a Qien Ping. Gojyo kicked Qien Ping in the stomach and punched her face.

"This is for Li Shi!"

Goku moved back as he hit Qien Ping in the other hand with his staff, crushing her fingers.

"This is for Mei Shi!"

Qien Ping fell to the ground as Hakkai pulled her arm and twisted it 360 degrees.

"This is for Ying Hui and everybody you caused misery to…"

Qien Ping groaned in pain and tears fell out. Homura used his sword and broke her left knee.

"This is for Hikari… and all the other gods you've killed…"

Kanzeon Bosatsu couldn't do much and looked at them. Sanzo looked at Qien Ping, who was already helplessly leaning against the wall and trying hard to stand. Sanzo looked at Qien Ping and aimed at Qien Ping's forehead. Qien Ping looked frightened as Sanzo was going to kill her next.

"Please… don't…"

"Too late… you've wasted most of my time… you might as well sleep…"

He fired as the shot hit Qien Ping within a nanosecond. Qien Ping fell back and plunged to her death below to the ground. They watched as Qien Ping died…

The sun set to the west as the birds grew silent. This indeed is a tragic day for everyone… it will be a scar until their hourglass-like life runs out….
