Gundam Wing Fan Fiction / Ronin Warriors Fan Fiction ❯ True Bloods ❯ Chapter 5
Kathrine: We are finally updating something other than our LotR story!
JC: We blame our distraction completely of Legolas and how damn sexy we think Orlando Bloom makes him look.
Kathrine: I swear some people don't play fair. Anyway, we have the next chapter of TB for you finally. We know many of you are not pleased with us.
JC: But our most recent story has taken up so much of our time, also we baby-sit out 4-month old niece, have chores, and don't get as much time on the computer as we used to.
Kathrine: So we decided to give you a chapter with answers, 'intrigue', and not-so mysterious characters.
JC: And without further irritation… Hope you enjoy!
Warnings: Shounen Ai, Vampires, Angst, Drama, A Little Action, and a Mysterious Character. Even a little Cliffhanger.
Disclaimer: We do not own Ronin Warriors/Yoroiden Samurai Troopers or Gundam Wing. If we did…things would be a LOT more 'interesting'.

Chapter 5
Sage kept running, not caring how fast or slow he went as long as it got him away from his brother. He couldn't stand to see him again after everything that had happened. Not after he'd left him alone to deal with… Gods, he couldn't even think about it. It had been one hundred years ago and yet it still haunted him due to all the pain it had caused afterwards, but he didn't think that you could forget about such things no matter how much time had past.
He had left the small wood behind and entered the shop area near the school, where most students tended to hang around before heading home. He turned into an alley he spotted between the florist and arcade and leaned against the wall, taking in a deep breath. He just hoped Duo hadn't-
" I always was faster than you," a voice echoed through the back street. He spun around and growled at the boy standing a few feet away from him, deeper in the darkness as if he himself was apart of the shadows.
" Why did you come back?" he demanded in a quiet, yet still clearly enraged tone.
" I could feel that you were in trouble," he explained. " I've been in Japan for days now, but I didn't know that you were here. I was with my friends at the mall when I felt it, the link between us finally coming back."
" You mean those boys that were with you?" he recalled. " Why are you here in Japan?"
" Quatre's family's is loaded and has mansions all over the world," he shrugged. " He wanted all of us to spend the summer together and since his father has business with Japanese corporations, he allowed Quatre and us to accompany him. How did you get here from England?"
" What does it matter to you?" he scowled. " You're the one that left me behind remember? Even after Kay told us we couldn't leave each other, you still left me alone."
" She said we could never be 'forced' apart without something happening," he corrected. " And we weren't, I left on my own."
" See that's where you were wrong," Sage's eyes were glowing red now with anger and pain. " You weren't forced to leave, but I had no say in it. I was forced to remain alone for almost a century! How could you leave me like that? Especially after what had happened, you left me alone. How could you do that to me?!"
" I-I didn't mean to," the brunette explained, finally realizing the pain he'd put his younger brother through. " I…what I mean…I wanted to…"
" What Duojo?" Sage pushed using his true name. Duo could feel the malice flowing off of him. But he understood. He didn't blame the blonde for his pain, seeing as he had been the cause of it. But that day he hadn't been thinking clearly, all that had been on his mind was revenge.
" The day… When you were hurt that day…" Duo didn't know where to start. " The day that you were attacked…Gods, I just wanted to get him for hurting you…I knew Omanti did it, I knew that he was alive…I saw it all…"
ONE HUNDRED YEARS AGO
/ He held his brother to his chest, rocking him back and forth. He wanted to keep cool, to not lose control. But this had never happened before. Never had one of them been harmed like this. They had always been quicker, cleverer, than those who pursued them. He had almost begun to think that they were safe as long as they continued to move on and stayed together.
" I'm so sorry Sage," he told him, his voice filled with remorse. " I don't know how this could have happened."
Duo watched as the blonde's eyes closed fully and he felt the link become dormant. It wasn't the pain he'd felt when their link had been severed only a short while before, only a silence as if someone had just stopped talking, even though you could still feel the heat and pressure in the air from them being so close. He'd lost sight of the blonde after he'd struck him and then felt the link become fogged, as if something was trying to keep them apart. He couldn't feel anything from Sage, but could still sense how close by he was. It was that small part of their connection that had led him to the large brick mansion.
He could still smell the thin scent of death and human decay in the air, showing that one person or more had been killed within a matter of days. And the entire home reeked of Vampire. He'd searched through the corridors until their link was miraculously rekindled. He felt Sage's pain, distress, and even fear, and used it to lead him to the room where his brother was. But the blonde had been alone, though he wanted to cover his nose at the scent of bloodsucker he encountered.
But why does it smell so familiar? He wondered. It's as if I've taken in this scent before. He wanted to dwell on the mystery further, but he knew that he needed to take care of his younger brother first. He walked back through the corridors, using memory to find his way to the front door and out the front gate, away from what had become a nightmare. How did this happen? Sage would have put up a fight; he's much stronger than any other vampire we've come against. I only smelled one, how could one get to him?
It didn't add up. What had lured his brother to the house in the first place? What had he heard in his mind that had taken him over so fully, causing him to even attack Duo himself to get to it? This has never happened before, he thought. How do I help him with this? He stayed from the main streets, following the back ways and alleys until he reached the street that the small house they were staying at resided on.
Before he even reached the front step, the door swung open and one concerned pale blue eye stared at him surrounded by white hair. " Dais," Duo gave a weak smile to the young-looking man. He was a friend of Kayura's that they'd sought out after she and them had parted ways. She said that he would help them if they needed it and she was right.
" What happened?" he asked in a mildly disturbed tone. The brunette didn't take it badly; the other man just wasn't one to express to many things. The amount of concern he was showing proved that he was actually quite worried.
" Get him inside first," Dais cut him off and moved to allow him entry. Duo gave him a grateful look and walked into the house quickly heading toward the small one-bed room that he and Sage shared. He placed his brother down on the bed and sat next to him, checking the bite on his neck.
" He was attacked by a vampire who was actually able to bite him?" Dais seemed somewhat surprised, proving that he was shocked. " How?"
" He just started to act really weird while we were in the shop district," Duo explained. " He suddenly turned around and went in the opposite direction we were going while talking about music he kept hearing in his head. I tried to stop him, but he basically punched me hard enough to crack a human's rib or something before he ran off. Then our link was blocked. I couldn't feel anything from him, but I could tell where he was. I got to this huge house and found him in one of the rooms. He was just like this, just barely awake. The whole house smelled like a Vampire so whoever it was had been there for a while, but he was gone when I got there."
" I see," Dais nodded. " Did Seiji say what kind of music it was he heard?"
" No, just kept saying he had to find it and wouldn't let anything stop him," he sighed. " Dais, is he gonna be okay? He's usually pale, but Gods not this pale. His heart is so quiet, I can barely hear it."
" Wait a while and we'll see," the white-haired man told him. " He probably won't awaken for a few more days with how much blood I believe was taken from him."
" O-Okay," Duo nodded shakily, sliding onto the bed next to the blonde, moving his braid so as not to lie on it, and wrapped an arm around the other's chest, pulling him close to him. He could hear Sage's heart better with simply that act and it eased his worry just barely. He'd never felt as helpless as he did right now. He'd always prided himself on being the 'big brother'. He always stood up for the blonde and protected him because he never did so for himself. Sage was not one for fighting, never had been, even though he was strong enough to harm or kill with ease. But now he'd failed. Sage had been hurt and hurt badly.
" Sorry, little brother," he whispered before falling asleep, holding the other securely in his embrace.
As soon as sleep claimed him his mind was assaulted by different images, flashes of a man with long raven hair and deep green eyes. He watched as he talked to him and showed him a strange instrument, smiling while describing its power. He watched as he circled him before feeling pain in his neck and the fire that burned through his veins. He watched as it ended and he lifted him up and laid him on the couch. But then everything seemed to become blurry and he couldn't see much anymore.
Duo jumped up, breath ragged as he eyes immediately flew to the still form at his side, one name floating about in his mind. Omanti… Sage was still as pale as earlier, but the fangs marks on his neck were not open as before. Now they were just two black marks on his flawless skin, a reminder of the ordeal he'd gone through. He listened and could hear the blonde's heart was closer to its normal beat.
He was sure now that his brother would be all right, but couldn't get the images from his mind. Gods, I was watching it through Sage's eyes. It was Omanti, but how? How is he alive? Did a Vampire feed him? Yes he was curious, but he was also angry and became more so the longer he thought about it. Omanti had been the man that they heard was a sympathizer with vampires and the like. They'd gone to him against their better judgment and had spent two weeks with him learning everything they could about Vampires and anything else they might need to know. But then Duo had found him in his home covered in his own blood, or what smelled like it was his own.
Gods, I don't get it. Why would he do this to Sage, even if he is alive? Nothing added up at the moment. Who cares why? He deserves to pay for what he's done. How dare he hurt my brother?! He growled and stood from the bed, closing his eyes and letting his senses flow. He set the on the smell that had been all over the mansion he'd found Sage in, the scent of Omanti.
He then felt it, the tickle in his sense that told him the other was still in the city. He could find him, kill him and be back before Sage even awoke. Dais said he'll sleep for days, he told himself. I can still be here when he wakes up. He snuck to the door and opened it a little, peaking through and sniffing the air. Dais was still there so he couldn't go through the front door. He'd want to know where he was going.
Turning around he walked to the one window in their room and opened it, climbing out and dropping silently to the ground. Don't worry Sage, he thought to his brother's sleeping form. I'll make him pay for what he did to you. With that he struck out down the street, following his sense towards his target. /
" I wanted to make him pay," he started. " I didn't wanted Omanti to get away with what he'd done. I could feel that he was close, I just thought I could find him and kill him, keep him from coming back for you. I HAD to protect you. But I didn't find him…instead a Hunter found me."
" What? A Hunter?" the blonde was shocked. He believed from what he'd last known that all Hunters were gone, killed off by vampire clans. But he couldn't remember a day that his brother had ever lied to him and didn't believe he was going to start now. He couldn't even feel a lie coming from the brunette, even though he was very good and acting when it benefited him.
" He tried to kill me, even threw Holy water on me thinking it would do something, stupid bastard," Duo frowned at the memory. " He chased me, did some sort of tracking spell. I couldn't lead him back to you. I thought that I could find someone to remove the spell and get right back to you. It didn't work that way, he chased me through four countries before I found someone who could remove it. By the time I got back to England you were gone, Dais didn't know where you had gone. You had disappeared two days after I left."
Sage recalled that. He knew why he had ran, but he could not tell his brother that. It would complicate things more than they already were. But now he knew that his brother hadn't abandoned him like he had come to believe, Duo hadn't tried to leave him behind. For so long he had refused to believe his would think him so weak he had to go on without him. But after a while…his defenses and emotional state had been so worn down that he couldn't help but believe it was his fault.
" I fled when I awoke," he finally explained. " I…was disoriented, confused, didn't know where you were. I panicked."
There was more to it, Duo could sense that. And yet, he could also tell that whatever it was, had been very painful for Sage. He didn't want to go over it and he wasn't going to make him. They could deal with all of this later. They had other things to handle as of now.
" I missed you, a lot," he said. " I used to talk to myself as if you were there…because I had no one else. Before I ended up at the orphanage anyway."
" Orphanage?" Sage glanced at him, confused.
" About five years ago I ended up at a Catholic church being run as an orphanage by a preacher, Father Maxwell, and a nun named Sister Helen, who happened to be his actual sister. I looked like some abandoned teenager and they took me in. I cook, clean, and even help with the younger kids. They feel bad for me 'cause they think that I have that disease that makes you look like a kid."
" If they knew you were 369, they would really believe you had stunted your growth," Sage chuckled. He then let out a short sigh. " And I was just planning on leaving. They all think I'm sixteen, but I haven't aged. I knew it was time to move on. And I really caused problems for us back there."
Duo realized now that his twin was probably right. It was time to move on, everything was compromised. And everything was actually beginning to grow on me, he thought sadly. The guys and I were so great together… I actually could stop thinking about Sage not being there when they were around. Duo thoughts were cut off by the sense of something about to happen.
Sage felt it before it fully hit him, the hunger coming upon him like a tidal wave. The pain was so great that he doubled over. Duo put a hand on his back, knowing exactly what had happened. " It's hitting you," he said. " You used too much energy and have to get it back."
" I…I can handle it," he stated through clenched teeth.
Duo frowned. " You know I'm supposed to be the stubborn one," he chided. " We have to find you a donor real fast. What do you usually get your food from?"
" Rabbits…deer," he replied. " In the woods."
" Well, the only thing we're gonna find in this place is rats," the brunette looked about the alley. Unfortunately, the dead end wasn't even very dirty, so finding even a rat might be difficult. But he knew they had to find Sage blood fast or else he would lose control. He didn't want that to happen.
A low hiss escaped his brother's lips as he leaned back against the cool stone of the florist shop. His eyes were cut into slits, but Duo could see the color fading from the orbs, changing them to the familiar whitish blue that physically represented their Hunger. Usually, they could go without for over a week before needing to feed, but when they exerted too much energy or lost too much blood, they had to find a way to replace it quickly.
" Sage, when was the last time you fed?" he asked.
" E-El-Eleven days ago…" he whispered, barley loud enough to be heard by normal ears.
" Gods!" The brunette cried out. " You're only supposed to hold out for eight tops! Do you WANT to go psycho on people? And now you've really lost it!"
" Duo-Duo…please, not now," Sage growled. " I - I -" A snarling sound, grimace spreading upon his face, fangs growing out of their own volition. It was obvious that the blonde could not control the transformation. It was taking all of the strength he had left to curl up against the wall of the alley, his body shaking in near-epileptic-like tremors.
" Oh man," Duo kneeled next to his brother. " Just try to hold on it for a little bit longer. I'm sure there's a butcher's shop somewhere around here." His eyes searched in his mind frantically. He sniffed the air, looking for something, even a dirty rat if he had to. Sage needed help fast.
Suddenly the tremors stopped. A strange calm settled over his brother and the turmoil ceased. The blonde stood, his eyes half-lidded, tongue flicking out to lick his lips, tasting the air as would a snake. " I smell blood, strong blood, half blood, live blood, human blood," he whispered.
" Human blood?" Duo's eyes widened. " No! Sage, you can't!" But he was too late, his brother pushed past him, his mind gone, only the Hunger left. He would not stop until he found what he searched for…unless someone stopped him. Damn it!! Duo shouted in his mind. This was NOT how a family reunion is supposed to turn out! With that he hurried off, knowing he would have to get to his brother before he did something he would regret when he was stable once more. And if his brother was left in this stage of mind for too long, not even Duo would be able to control him. He didn't think to question what blood had attracted his brother so strongly.
--------------------------------------------------------------- ----
He was alone, it wasn't that late. Only around ten-thirty. As it was, many people were out and about, mostly young teenagers now that school had let out. To them the short vacation before the next term was a well loved, yet also taken for granted, reprieve. He was somewhat bored, his companion out somewhere since they had gotten into town only a week before. Now he was alone and decided it was best if he learned more about the city they were staying in. Tokyo was such a vast place, himself being used to the smaller rural-like towns of Eastern Europe, but he enjoyed the challenged of going over the entire city from edge to edge.
He was aware that he was in the 'teen club district', a part of town that his friend had mentioned more than once. It was where people preferred to 'hang out', meet up with friends, go dancing, go to the arcade, the video store, and even a specialty ice cream shop/bookstore. Unfortunately for him, the last was not open this late, for he would had enjoyed its products the most. He loved to sit up late at night with a well-written novel.
But for now he was forced to travel around the streets, using well-learned skill to avoid being noticed by too many of the people around. Those who did see him did not catch more than a glimpse and he could easily move on without them catching another. It would not do well to draw attention to himself.
A new, unfamiliar energy filled the air, a fluctuation that he knew none of the civilians around him could sense. He stopped. His eyes searching about for what could have caused such a change, but he could not discern if one of those walking about were responsible. There was something about the energy that most definitely caught his attention, for it was wild, untamed and seemingly out of control.
Why would one of Them be acting so recklessly? he wondered. He tried to sniff the air, but found that there was little of an actual scent for him to go for. Whatever - or whoever - was coming had done something to mask their presence, or their scent was something he had not yet encountered. He was going for the latter, because he would have sense the cloaking energy if the being was strong enough to hide its scent. He was not one that could be tricked easily.
The energy concentrated itself in one small area, a few feet away from him, around the corner onto another street. He looked around, pale eyes searching to see if anyone was watching him, for that is what it appeared to be. He let his hand fall to his side, fingers ready to grab the weapon that was holstered to his waist. He could not take any chances.
With the calm and agile silence of a feline, he rounded the corner, keeping his eyes alert for anything that might be out of the ordinary. To his confusion, he found nothing. People were walking around, though not definitely as many as on the main street, and he could tell that none of them were a threat to him. But what is this feeling? he asked himself. I can tell that one of Them is nearby! But why can I not tell where?
Still walking down the street, he almost was prepared for the hand that shot out and grabbed his shoulder, nearly throwing him to the ground in its haste to pull him into the small nearby parking lot, which just happened to be in the back of a building. He acted quickly, striking out, catching his attacker in the face and allowing him to land on his feet before jumping back.
His eyes widened at the sight of his assailant. He seemed to be nothing more than a young boy, a child. He had insanely long hair (though he was not one to comment) that was pulled back into a long golden braid. His practically white eyes were wide and what he might have classified and maniacally unstable, though they would easily ensnare him if he looked into them for too long. And yet the fangs showed the truth even more than his hypnotic orbs; he was a Vampire.
But I cannot sense the vampire in him, only his uncontrollable energy, he thought.
" Hunger, blood," the creature whispered. " You have such strong blood. Half-blood."
" What?" Pale blue eyes widened. " I don't know where you came from, Monster, but I'm ready to send you back in ashes." He quickly pulled the long-barreled pistol and metal pole, sharpened on one end like a stake, from within the confines of his knee-length dark-red coat.
" So hungry," the boy-like creature went on, eyes glazed. " I can't st - I must feed."
" Can't what?" the man frowned, noticing something even more peculiar about his opponent. It's fighting with itself, he realized. I can attack it now while it is off guard, ridding the world of another monster, or putting a forced demon out of its misery. Accepting his decision, the man raised his gun and fired two shots consecutively…only to have himself thrown to the ground by a powerful force as the blonde dogged the first and the other missed by a few feet at the least.
" No!" He heard someone cry out as his head cracked against the wall of the building. Stars appeared before his eyes as bright flashes of darkness and white pain. He felt the grey at the edges of his sight and consciousness, but fought it off as he had always been taught to do. By doing so, he was able to hear the strange, yet mysterious, conversation going on so close by.
" Stop Seiji!" he heard someone that was not the blonde Vampire. " You can't attack him! You've never once fed from a person, don't start now!"
" Must feed!" It was the blonde demon. " So hungry."
" Well, I know where to get blood," the other sounded concerned, yet firm, as if trying to tamed the unbridled beast.
" No!" There was more noise, sounding like the two scuffling with one another. " Feed!"
" I…won't…let you!" There was more scuffling. " You know you don't want to do this. It's the Hunger talking. You have to take back power."
" Such…strong blood…so hungry…must feed…powerful blood…" It was almost as if he was listening to a robot with the empty, yet harsh voice. He finally managed to regain his complete eyesight and raised himself to his knees. It was completely abnormal for him to feel this way. Never had he felt so weak from only one hit, and it was believed impossible to hurt him as such, though he was not sure of what he had been hit with.
He allowed himself to look up just in time to see the two figures a few yards away struggling with one another. The blonde finally pushed the other away, but was shocked by the black mist that enveloped the Vampire, the dark smoke coming from the hand of the other dark-haired figure. The blonde was forced to stand still as the mist enclosed around him and then seeped in, as if being absorbed into his body. Then the Vampire collapsed, falling over to the ground unconscious.
" I'm sorry," the dark figure whispered.
" What are you doing?" he stood, the stake still in his hand. The person turned to look at him with wide violet eyes, his hair also in a long braid. " Who are you?"
" Forgive us, but no one must know we have been here," he apologized, sorrow tinting his words. It was the that the black mists came once more, but this time it grew until it attacked him, making him unable to run or defend himself. His eyes were blind, his voice mute. He could only feel the imminent darkness that slowly ate into his body like a bad chill until he finally lost it all.
JC: How was that for ya? Did you like it?
Kathrine: You can all probably figure out who that person was, but can you figure out his place in everything? I hope not. It's too soon for that.
JC: Anyway, we are trying to get to work on our other works before school starts back up. Our LotR is about finished so that will give us more time.
Kathrine: We're not sure which we will update next so just keep a look out.
JC: Yes, and please review. We love to know what you guys think! ^_^
