Pairings: Wachey/Wufei, Freya/Yusuke, Abigail/Duo, Nenagh/Jin, Angel/Ryoko, Matthew/Relena, Shane/Kagome, Umbra/Vegeta, Kayori/Heero, Sahar/Quatre, Nikki/Trowa, Kita/Sesshoumaru, Vanny/Trunks, Akira/Yukina, Candis/Hiei, Ember/Kurama, Crystal/OC, Miroku/Sango, and Inu Yasha/Kikyo.

Warnings: Big crossover, a lot of self-insertions, and switching POV's, points anyway. Other than that, I can't remember.

The Year Long Contest Chapter 3: Getting Started

That first day on the beach of Hawaii was just fine, though the incident with Kikyo and the scouts was still being talked about in hut number 6. Luckily they had the kind Vash the Stampede to make them forget all about their troubles.

"Aw Vash, you're so nice," Serina complimented first.

"And so cute," Mina and Lita added, messing with his hair. Indeed, he was happy to have switched teams, though he wouldn't have minded staying with his original team. After everyone had come up with names for their team and ranks, all were led to the mansion they would be staying in.

"Hello, I'm Vanny if you guys don't remember, and I am here to give you the number one rule of the house," the girl with peachy-pink hair, in pig-tails, stated. Waiting for everyone to pay attention to her, she then continued speaking with, "You are not allowed to leave this building after 11:00 pm, and you can't roam around the halls at either. We expect you to be asleep by then. So unless you are performing a challenge, or have a special note from one of the staff members, you are not allowed to stay up any later than 11:00."

"Now tomorrow is your first official challenge. It's not one of the major contests, but a minor one that will earn your team points. It will be performed at 2:00 pm, after your last classes with Ember and myself. Your schedualed class is listed on the sheet of paper she is handing to you now."

As she had said, a girl with dark purple eyes started to hand out blue sheets of paper to everyone. From a distance, her eyes looked like one color, but upon closer inspection, one could find a few specs of silver in them. Of course, none of the humans could tell, but the demons could. Either way, they read what was on the note.

It included their class schedual, lunch time, dinner time, more rules, what room they were supposed to go in, what team they were on, and the ranks they had just chosen. Apparently informaton traveled very fast within this place.

"Okay, once you get your paper, please feel free to look around the island, for it is only three in the afternoon. Make sure to drop off your things in your rooms though, bye," Vanny said happily and walked off along with Ember.

"Well, I don't know about you guys, but I'm going to go swimming," Yusuke stated, running to the elevator. Several others followed suit, and soon all four elevators were crammed full of people and their luggage.

"I am so thankful I didn't get on there first," Wachey said mainly to herself, but her other team members nodded along in agreement. Looking around her, she found that only three of her group went into the elevators just now. But other than them, the gundam pilots had stayed behind, and were now going up the stairs instead.

"Should we follow them," Angel asked, sort of tired of holding her bags. Then again, so were the rest of them.

"Nah, I think we should just wait for the elevators again. Can you imagine all those steps we'd have to climb," Matt answered, pointing towards the many number of floors the elevators showed above them.

"Good point," she replied, putting her bags down for the time being.

"I'm going up the stairs. It's more exercise. Besides, maybe this is their way of training and building up for the strengths contest," the Hispanic girl stated, quickly going over there, if only to just stare at Wufei's behind.

"Something tells me she likes one of them," the black-haired boy stated. Only he was ignored, as Abi and Sahar followed their leader, with the same thought in mind.

"Oy, girls," he then mumbled, but was glad that he wasn't alone. He had Umbra and Angel still with him to wait. In the end, it took everyone about thirty minutes to an hour to get ready and leave for the beach again.

"Wow, you guys have cool bathing suits. And cool, you have a tail," Wachey stated, messing with her teammates tail.

"Do you mind? I'm kinda sensitive there," the curly-haired girl warned slightly, but not too harshly. Backing away, the hazel eyed girl went about looking at how much fun everyone was having.

"Hey, would you like to throw this frisbee with me," Kayori asked, standing in a purple and blue flowered bikini. Nodding, the Hispanic girl adjusted the top part of her blue bikini, before standing up, and then asked, "Would you like to join us Angel, Freya, Sahar, and Abi?"

"Why not," Angel replied, getting up, and dusting off sand from her light blue whole-piece bathing suit. The other girls, who were sort of oggling the gundam pilots responded with, "Huh? What?"

"Frisbee, you know, round flat disk you throw and toss to one another," Freya said somewhat sarcastic, but merely shook her head no to the offer. She then tightened the towel around her waist.

"Sure, I'll do it," Sahar said first, checking around her, before picking out a wedgy from her yellow Hawaiian flower printed tankini. In her black, with white flowers, bikini, Abigail stated, "No thanks, I'm going to see how Nenagh is." With that said, they departed and went off to do whatever.

Meanwhile, in some bushes, or at least behind some trees, to the right of the girls previous sitting place, Miroku had been watching the girls talk, walk about, and bounce. The bouncing part was his favorite of course. He had never seen girls with so little clothing on. /This year long contest won't be so bad afterall, / he began to think.

"Hey, what are you doing," someone said behind him. Startled, he turned around to find it was Yusuke.

"Um, nothing. I've just never seen girls dressed like that before," he said honestly.

"Hm, I understand. Now if you'll excuse me," the spirit detective stated, and headed towards the girl who stayed behind and were still sitting in the sand. That was Freya.

Again, meanwhile, on the opposite end of those bushes, and away by about twenty feet, Duo had noticed one of the girls getting closer, and closer to his location. Not that he minded, the girl he shared a room with was cute, if not very pretty. Her other friend, who had a whole piece bathing suit with a large fish on it, was cute also. But it was obvious she wasn't interested in him, or anyone else on the beach for that matter.

All and all, the first day on the beach was just fine, though Miroku was eventually caught spying on the girls, and Vegeta was nearly found spying on Umbra. Well Goku understood why his friend did so, but wished he didn't make it anymore obvious. When it was night, most were asleep around nine thirty, but there were still just a few who lingered at dinner.

"Excuse me, Yukina, may I speak with Akira, the chef," Kurama asked politely. He had noticed she helped in the cooking, and figured she must've been close to the cook.

"What do you need to speak to me about," the sapphire-eyed youko asked, appearing behind her. He said goodnight to the ice apparition, and waved goodbye to her as she left the kitchen. Turning his attentions back to the redheaded boy, he waited for a response.

"Do you not recognize me? I'm Kurama, your cousin," the much older youko finally stated.

"Kurama?! But you died," Akira said in disbelief. Maybe this was why he felt something about this boy, but was it really true? Was he really his dead cousin? That night, Kurama explained all that had happened to him after he was nearly killed.

Come morning, the majority woke up early, and started to get ready for the day. Only those who had first period got first dibs to the bathroom.

"Hm, I see my class is fourth...period? Well, I guess I'll head off to breakfast then," Miroku said, looking at his paper.

"Yeah, I'm used to waking up early. But I'm glad I got second period. I guess these two aren't morning people," Mina then added, gesturing towards Wachey and Yusuke, who were still sleeping.

"No I guess not, wish to join me for breakfast," the monk asked politely.

"Not this moment, I'm waiting for that Chinese guy to leave the bathroom so I can bathe," the blonde replied.

"Well this Chinese guy is done, you can go in now," Wufei said right behind her, having all ready bathed, and gotten dressed for class. Surprised, and laughing nervously, the scout of Venus went into the bathroom with one of her bags. Looking towards the girl still sleeping on the bed large enough for five, the raven-haired boy wondered why he agreed to do what his friends asked him. /A spy would've been up by now, or is she just doing this to bother me? No matter. /

Shaking his head, he nodded his head towards Miroku, and then left the room towards the swimming pool area. They had announced that today they would be there, so it was recommended that they bring their bathing suits too. Once there, he found Heero and Dorothy also had class with him. So he went to sit next to them on one of the benches.

"Good morning everyone! I'm glad you could make it. Now I'm going to take roll, and then we'll let Ember take over the class from here," Vanny said cheerfully. Looking down her list, she said, "Okay, say here when I call your name. Heero?"

"Here," he said in his usual cold tone. Smiling still, the light blue-eyed girl continued with, "Freya? Kiyone? Bulma? Trunks? Ami? Dorothy? Wufei? Kayori? Koenma, and Tenchi?"

"Here," they all chorused, surprised she said that so fast. Putting her pen down, she then explained, "Okay, today you will be learning some swimming lessons, seeing as your challenge today will involve being in water. Tomorrow you will learn biology with me! See you then!"

With that said, all looked to Ember, who was a little shy you might say. She was going to have to do this five times today. After first period, some were exhausted, and could barely hold their arms up, others were just fine.

"Hey, Wufei, would you like to join me and Yusuke for breakfast," Wachey asked, popping up behind him. A little startled, and about to say no, the Chinese boy stopped himself as his stomach growled yes in response. In the cafeteria hut, which was a large one-story building with several booths, and tables for people to eat in, just about everyone was there, except those who had second period.

"So, how was the class, boring," the spirit detective asked first. Normally he'd eat with his friends, but decided, since he was asked so nicely, (actually bribed), that he'd accompany Wachey and Wufei for breakfast. What a girl she was turning out to be, but hey, anything to get his homework done.

"No, it was just fine. We're just goofing off in the pool really," the Chinese boy admitted, and read over what he wanted to eat. He wondered why this girl had brought the boy along, did they work together, or did she just bribe him?

Meanwhile, in the second class, Ember had thought of a better way of teaching her class on how to swim. First, she asked, "Okay, who here doesn't know how to swim?"

Only four hands went up, and they were Rei, Kuwabara, Mina, and Shippo. Writing their names down, she then said, "Who here is an excellent swimmer? Not average, but really good."

Another four hands rose, the other three boys, and one of the girls. Seeing as there were two left, Ember asked, "Is it safe to assume you two are all right at swimming?"

"Yeah," Kagome and Sahar said at the same time. Nodding and finishing her writing, she then instructed, "I want those who don't know how to swim to partner up with those who are experts at it. Experts, I want you to teach them how to float on their stomachs, as well as their backs. Average swimmers, follow me." With that, their class began.

"Um, guys, can one of you teach Kuwabara? I don't want to," Angel admitted to Quatre, Trowa, and Shane. They looked at the boy and shook their heads. /Damn them, / she then thought.

"Thanks for joining me for breakfast," the Hispanic girl stated, all ready wearing her bathing suit underneath, and carrying a towel. The two boys merely nodded, and waited along with her for second period to end.

"Man, that class was easy! Hey, Urameshi," Kuwabara shouted happily, entering the hall. Both of them then proceeded to leave to wherever, as well as Wufei, who had went off with Trowa and Quatre.

/I wonder if he likes me all ready? No, it's too soon, / Wachey thought bored, and went to sit on a bench. Once roll was checked, and Ember had asked the questions she had asked second period, she found herself in a mess. She only had two experts, three average, and six who didn't know how to swim.

"Um...Matt and Michiru? You'll have to teach three people each, you decide who. Goku, Haruka, and Hiei, follow me," the black-haired, with purple and silver highlights, ordered.

"Okay, I'll take Relena, Cathy, and my leader Wachey," Matt said first, and had the three girls follow him. Smiling at who was left, which were Sasami, Washu, and Hotaru, Neptune simply stated, "Please face outside of the pool, place a firm grip to it, and dip your heads in the water for ten seconds."

As they did this, the three average swimmers were forced to swim back and forth, back and forth, back and forth in another pool, and at top speed. Needless to say the rest of the classes went like this, and those who had fifth period were greatful they had it then, because they are usually late to class.

When it was finally 2:00 pm, everyone was at the beach, staring at seven small, yet medium sized boats that hard large fishing lines on them.

"Okay, I trust everyone got to eat lunch and breakfast," Kita asked, holding a sheet of paper with the rules for the quest on it. After everyone nodded, she continued with, "Your first quest today is called, 'Shark Catching.' Today, we want you to catch the biggest shark you can find out there! Now each of these boats have the same equipment and supplies, as well as a copy of the rules."

"Your fishing team may consist of only four members. That includes the leader, two defenders, and nurse. Once you've captured your shark, bring it over here as soon as possible, and you will be rewarded fifteen points. You are not allowed to help, or ruin, another team's catch. Now you have until six tonight, hurry on board," Sesshoumaru stated, gesturing behind him, and with that, everyone hurried up onto their fishing boats.

Wow, we get to catch a shark! Well, that's in the next chapter. Hope you guys are enjoying this so far! It's fun writing it. Hope I got the details on your bathing suits right, and if you noticed, yes, I did mention detail on the bathing suits a little too much. But hey, I had asked for bathing suits, so I should mention what they look like. Anyway, I'm off to write that next chapter! Sorry if I misspelled, or made your OC's, OOC.
